I see your point. But keep in mind that we were all on the f 53 some very short time ago. and also keep in mind that the guys I race with INCLUDING myself race at Citrus, Desoto and A dale. We all want to stay on slicks......period. Yoho has heard us ??? Get it ? How many of the best drivers in our class on the west coast have said it right here ???? Ok and I know what your thinking. They are being discontinued..........I really don't believe that because I was told different by a man who has been selling tires when we ( except prob old school ) were in diapers....lol. But Like I said when I get home I will find out personally. Do you think Hoosier is no longer making 8" slicks ?? If Scott is right well I for one will rally for them.......I am only one guy but I bet I could start a thread on here AGAIN and get 30 mod guys on board. If memory serves me correctly I think that before sunshine closed up our left side tires were indeed 2040's...........oh and they were slicks.not the west coast grooves

I see no reason why tracks would switch you off a tire that you already like and that there were zero problems with if they were still making them.

The 2040 is absolutely a great tire. Stafford is running them on the LM and Limited LM.

I inquired about the F53 moments ago with Hoosier Tire East... They are in fact being discontinued according to what I was told.

Now, I absolutely understand your desire to stay on slicks, and if you want to do that, I suggest very highly that you lobby for the 2040... It is in fact a great tire. I will try to get my hands on a lightly used set and send them to you (at your cost) to run in a practice session and see how you like them if you would like me to do that for ya. Last time I shipped tires down for the tire test last year, it was about $180 to ship 4.

One point I would like to make though, is that the grooves in the 750R add to the reason it holds up so well. The grooves are a cooling device of sorts and it helps the tire be more forgiving. Let me know what you want to do about the 2040s, if I can come up with a decent set I would be more than happy to help man. My only goal is to help you all the best I can, even if I am 1400 miles away. I love FL and just want to see things succeed down there.

It was bugging the hell out of me so I just got off the phone with Jay the tire man........I think most of you know who that is ? He told me that hell no they haven't discontinued the tire. What they are doing is not making any more 84 and 84 and a quarter because Hoosier is sitting on 400 of them. I asked Jay then why the hell are they all wanting to run these 750's..............and he said whats been said here before........If you have more cars on one tire you don't have to order different types and get them for cheaper if you buy bulk of one tire .........Hmmm makes ya think huh. Rex is selling us them at cost ??? lol does anyone here know Rex....he is a business man. I bet you will see soon that sportsman,mods and streetstocks will all be on the same tire ?? I then asked the man about these 2040's and he said that he hasn't heard about them.but that don't mean they aint making them.....Then he said........bless his heart.........why would we change its a good tire now.............And for you old sunshine fans...we ran the 2040 on the right then the 2035 on the left........just sayin

Sounds like we are getting some conflicting information from our respective tire suppliers.

The man I spoke to is the hoosier tire supplier for showtime. I cant even tell you how long he has been dealing with Hoosier. I think his brother was selling them at east bay raceway.........But that don't make him right

I am fairly sure that nothing but the F53 will be running at Showtime until 2017.

Everyone else is already on the 750.

Money......greenbacks.....easy to purchase one type of tire for three classes.......ah money....tell the stupid drivers they stopped making them and cram the tires they are getting way cheaper and selling at the same price down our throats
