Yeah I sposin' yer right there, OS. It's just not cool whoever is pushin' their agenda by lyin' to the OWM guys. At the end of the day I guess who it is doesn't matter. The bottom line is everyone operating except for Showtime is on the R750. Not so sure this is so great for the OWM guys. Yoho has the biggest OWM races in FL.

I can guarantee you that the tracks aren't getting rich off this if its true. Just trying to keep afloat I'm sure. At the end of the day, I'm sure Matt Albee will have the answer that will set us in the right direction.
I agree with you sir.....I have been supporting florida racing for a decade. I hate seeing our beloved little tracks close. Im really hoping Citrus gets straightened out and I miss Punta Gorda......This tire deal is a mess..........Keep in mind that all the tracks were on one tire....So the reason im Bit#$%ing is that they changed on us.....1 track at a time. Leaving ....It was Showtime, Citrus and Desoto on the slicks. It seems that the tracks who sell their own tires are going to the 750 because of money.

I firmly believe that a modified belongs on a slick......I would agree with everyone that a tire that has good bite and lasts would be great but I will tell you that our cars need a good tire......Ask any mod driver....get on the gas just a tick too hard and you will leave black streaks down the straight.

I really don't care about the tracks making money and Like I said about Rex....they are running a business. Devon I Kinda disagree with you about the slick hurting Showtime. I can remember just last year people supporting him because of the slick. I am all for a new tire that lasts for several races and is as good as the f-53........I want to ask everyone this question that has run this .........if you practice....race....one night on this tire. Is it truly as fast as if you bolt on 4 new ?? or like every other tire that I have run.....goodyear, hoosier, American racer...white letter...yellow letter.........you will pick up 2 to 4 tenths with brand new????

              • Again, I only have 2 race nites on the car and tires, but I was just as slow on them the first night as I was on the second night, to the 10th.

                • Don't let Joe fool you.

The car is neutral through the corners if a bit sketchy going in. He is a good shoe and, like all but a couple-three modifieds, is mostly getting out-handled down the straights.

                  • You know... I keep hearing about these big power OWM engines so now I am curious... What are these OWM guys paying for these big crazy power engines? Anyone have any idea?

                    • PJ--Part of it is New Smyrna. From late models to modifieds the straights are long enough that it amplifies a HP difference.

At Auburndale or St Pete it looks more like Waterford. They have to work on the outside, and it takes a while to get by each car. NSS is more like Pocono.

One interesting thing about NSS: When the NE mods are down, there are typically 6-10 with similar (big) power, they appear to draft down the straights.

                      • What in the hell are you talking about? lol Have another cup of coffee OS...

I asked what the price tag is on these big power motors... Not why they need them... I race at a track bigger than New Smyrna, I understand why they want power completely...

                            • Along the way I believe I have heard $15-20k, but I do not know the answer to your question.

That was an angle that seemed relevant to me, but obviously not to you. Threads drift. Fecal Matter Happens.

This one has gone from restart cone to tires to motor, for instance.

                              • I wonder how much of the difference in finishing positions is due to knowing how to set up a chassis, tune the engine correctly, using the correct gear, and driving ability, rather than " them big motors "?
But as the sign over the door says ( thank you Banjo Mathews ) Speed Costs Money, How Fast Do You Want To Go. I've mentioned before that i know of a pure stock racer who sends engines out of state to be blueprinted and tuned.
The last time i was at NSS, i heard that Symons and Bruns had " them big motors ". And of course others do also. But if that's the case, then most of the front runners have em, and that just means the competition is level. I saw that Boyd won over there a week or so ago. Was it one of " them big motors " or was it Boyds driving and a good race car?
