There is no such thing as a cheap hobby whether it is boating, fishing, hunting, camping, bowling pick anything from a long list of them they ALL cost a lot now so just because you happened to pick an expensive one does not mean you should be paid just to be there to do it your fun is worth something isn't it?

Just one problem. "there" if there is no "there" than what difference does it make. You invested your hard earned money into a hobby and now there is no "there".Originally posted by Jeff42442 View PostI think there should be some sort of pay out in every class for the racers cost of being there.
If a business isn't making enough money than why stay open? The business/race track is closing and racers are still bitching about pay outs. I'd be more worried about loosing a place to race.
All that money you spent on your cars and now what?
I have spent this year road racing, auto cross, drag racing, and 3500 miles on the Hot Rod Power tour with my street car and didn't receive one dime from any event. I had wear and tear, replaced parts, no sponsors etc etc.. you get the idea. I didn't expect anything and have had the time of my life.
With all that being said I know some race tracks are still greedy. Fuel and tire prices, pit slab fees, entry fees are all factors. Tracks should make every rule change necessary to keep costs down.

I just bought a pro truck 2 months ago and only have drivin it once due to this orlando issue, I think it's a little ridiculous that people are really making such a big deal about pay outs. I still can't believe there is a AMATURE race event that pays!!
Now I have had my truck for 2 months and have no place to drive, this sucks. Could also be another reason more people don't get into the sport.
Orlando was to be my home track, now I don't know? Could someone tell me a track close to orlando that has a practice/race schedule that they stick to. And something bigger the a-dale!

EdM,
Obviously you don't have a cash flow problem...LOL.
Years past OSW charged classes that had no purse HALF of the usual entry fee. This year full price and no pay out. Obviously they really needed the extra $60 they made off us..
Thats the point. It is a slap in the face.
Now back to your 3500 miles and racing all over the country....congrats but you are NOT on the same page or even close to those who race the lowest classes.
Please have some "class" and don't try to impress with your world travels.
You said in an earlier post..."STFU about payouts". Really? Really? They are only important if you need them.Last edited by Lizzard; 07-27-2013, 03:47 PM.

No different than anyone else, not spending any more or any less than what I was on racing. Saved for a couple of years and have excellent credit. My wife and myself sacrificed an entire year of anything extra to have a good vacation this year. That is completely beside the point!Originally posted by Lizzard View PostEdM,

They also let them in free and it still didn't help.Originally posted by Lizzard View PostYears past OSW charged classes that had no purse HALF of the usual entry fee. This year full price and no pay out. Obviously they really needed the extra $60 they made off us..
Comparison not to be mistaken with lack of class. I am not the one on here complaining about $60.Originally posted by Lizzard View PostNow back to your 3500 miles and racing all over the country....congrats but you are NOT on the same page or even close to those who race the lowest classes.

Yes really, how is that payout working for you without a place to race? I would rather have a place to race for free than not have any place at all. I know all about costs and budget racing. My first season in the sportsman was all done on tires from the junk pile. I ran half the season with a miss because I couldn't afford a set of spark plug wires and carb rebuild. When I raced strictly stocks 2000-2005, I would find them for $50, race them until they broke and find another car. Didn't need to spend thousands of dollars on them.Originally posted by Lizzard View PostYou said in an earlier post..."STFU about payouts". Really? Really? They are only important if you need them.
And like I said in an earlier post, how are the payout now that there is not a place to race in the Orlando area.Last edited by Edm; 07-27-2013, 04:24 PM.

Did anybody understand any of that? :POriginally posted by Jeff42442 View Posthey ed do you no were anymore 50.00 cars are i paying way to much for our cars our cars do have motor trans rear ends drive shaft wheels body frame how much does it cost when you add all that stuff if you can find a running car that you can race find me 10 of them for now
How about:
"Hey, Ed. Do you know where any more $50.00 cars are? I am paying way too much for our cars. Our cars do have a motor, transmissions, rear ends, driveshaft, wheels, body, and a frame. How much does it cost when you add all that stuff? If you can find a running car that you can race, find me 10 of them for now."
Why is it so hard for some people to post something that people can actually understand?

Nascar,Indy car, even lower series like ARCA,Nascar modifieds etc...would they be there every week if there was no pay out of any kind?
Those are professionals teams that make a living out of racing. Different ball game And even still, beside some very few special events, the payout compare to what it cost to compete in these leagues are peanuts.
the racers who bring the cars out are the ones who put on the show.
If the grandstands are always empty, it give you a pretty good idea of how entertaining the show you are providing is....................André Fortin

I kind of know what you mean, there may not be anymore $50 cars but running cars under $500 can be found. I am hearing strictly stock guys spending 3 and 4 k for cars. Super stocks 8 -10 k and sportsman upwards of 12 k. No wonder everyone is demanding payouts. The fans don't care how much anyone spends as long as there is good racing.Originally posted by Jeff42442 View Posthey ed do you no were anymore 50.00 cars are i paying way to much for our cars our cars do have motor trans rear ends drive shaft wheels body frame how much does it cost when you add all that stuff if you can find a running car that you can race find me 10 of them for now

Well, bottom line is we disagree.
You obviously could care less about a $100 payout. Most racing the lower classes do.
If you really think that the lowest class getting a payout shutdown OSW then you are well, misinformed at best. Because we NEVER DID get a payout.
And for your $50 Strictly Stocks you ran in 2004...... Can I buy 10 of them from you? Oh, they are required to have roll cages too so I will give you $55.Last edited by Lizzard; 07-27-2013, 08:14 PM.

If you need that $100 dollar payout so badly you can't afford to race anyway. Like Jimmy said Quitcherbitchin where did you race last night? Oh that's right no where cause there is no where to race anymore.Originally posted by Lizzard View PostWell, bottom line is we disagree.

You were so quick to criticize me for comparing my other racing activities to circle track racing but you completely failed to recognize my point about cost vs payouts in other forms are car racing.Originally posted by Lizzard View PostWell, bottom line is we disagree.

This you cannot deny or argue with....
-OSW doubled payouts, result, SAME!
-OSW gave free entry to ALL strictly stock drivers, result, SAME!
-Sponsor money WAS given to help promote strictly stocks when Rick was running the track and the result was the same!
-The biggest super stock race at OSW in the last 15 years didn't have a payout!
-Now it doesn't matter what payouts are because there are NONE and no place to race!
"If you really think that the lowest class getting a payout shutdown OSW" -QUIT being a dick and speaking on my behalf because you obviously don't know me or understand me very well,
I NEVER SAID or thought this. I am only commenting on drivers/owners complaining about payouts when there is currently no place to race and NOT reasons OSW IS SHUT DOWN.

It's no big deal who gives a crap, once it's gone who will give a shit. I raced at Palm Bch and the payouts were the same as today....gone, Hialeah payouts were same as today...gone, Hollywood payouts the same...gone, Naples payouts same...gone, Okeechobee payouts worse than I ever saw and the place was packed...gone, Jax Raceways...gone.
Maybe they shoulda paid higher purses.

There are a lot more tracks that are closed than this list Ft. Pierce, Vero Beach, Golden Gate etc. etc. I don't think any of them closed because of small purses or the lack of cars or arrogant people who thought they were the reason a track was successful. Most if not all of these tracks closed due to growth of the population of Florida. This is what will close most of the tracks around here not the poor payout when will all of you realize this you should race while you can it won't last forever. STOP thinking the promoter or track owner owes you something for driving through the gate!!!!!Originally posted by Lurkin View PostIt's no big deal who gives a crap, once it's gone who will give a shit.
