Man I really hate to be a Negative Nelly but this is why the modified is sitting in the garage. This is why I've tried to not get excited over all of this years hype regarding the east coast asphalt tracks. This is why rather than spend a bunch of money to just end up being disappointed I decided to watch it shake out.

    2013? S.S.D.Y.

See you at the Chumpcar races. 14 Hours of Sebring in Sept., Charlotte in Nov.

If any track is to be taken seriously on the east coast, looks like I'll be looking for a dirt car.

A funny thing happens always if there are nearly allway no fans in the stands to see the racers, even if there is a fair payout for the racers, they don't show up in numbers. Why I know this is I did promoting back in time and found that out. The racers like a full grandstand to show off too,we race cuz we have a competive sprit,it's not really for $,but it helps some, and yet if the $ get too big it will screw up the racing by gitting super high $ guys showing up and run off the low $ ones that make a full car count. So fan count is more importen then the payout is in the long run for weekend type racers from more then a few standpoints.. Sat nite is the only nite any track can in Florida now days have even a snowballs shot at lasting.
As for myself,so far it still looks like Hart's only real thought about Speedworld is to keep it from be compatsion to NSS in any way=it seem to explan a lot about why OSW is not aloud to do what is need for OSW to be a hit again.
This also be why any good promoter with not stay, but long enough to find out the deck is stacked I'm thinking.
Actuly I hope not! but it is how it looks when adding up the years.

I spoke with Bob today, him and Ozzie are trying to work things out. Prior to this Bob has already gotten things moving in the right direction with sponsors, promotion and of course making the move to Saturday nights. Bob sounded optimistic that if he and OzZie can work things out Orlando will be on the long road to recovery.

Well. I want my $95 (NASCAR license fee) back and my $35 pit fee for the cancelled sprint car race.

That is fair. Especially since we (the strictly stick drivers) went the whole season so far paying the same as everyone else to race with NO PURSE. We ALL Thought that was BS.

everyone on here seems to be worried about payouts.... really???? you should be worried about losing a great local track! and what i think its the best track to race on in fl. i grew up going to this track every weekend and even racing my first racecar there.yes it needs work but things wont and cant get better if we dont show up.when the gates open again(i hope they do soon) show support. ive met ozzy he is a very nice guy but no matter who is running the place if cars dont show it wont get any better.

We've been saying this for years. If everyone out there wasn't trying to outspend the next guy the low payouts would be that bad. The ones bitching the most are the ones that don't show up anyways. OSW and NSS both doubled the payouts a couple of years ago and the cars still didn't show up.

You want to keep a track around, here is an idea, STFU about payouts, quit spending too much money on your shit, you don't need a stacker or pit crew and you or your teenager will never make it to Nascar.

Local racing has turned into a show case spectacle of high rollers trying to prove who has more money and whose teenager will be the next Jeff Gordon.

The high rollers with their big money teams are pushing the little guys completely out of racing.

Well if you race at new smyrna you need it anyway. besides 95.00 spent for a million dollars coverage if your hurt in the pits or on the track well worth it. what kind of coverage does the other tracks have.

True. If I race at Bristol I'm good also? How about Homestead?

The point? I paid to race at OSW. Now they are closed.

Does anyone remember when Rusty had the contest for the drivers that had the most fans show up? I believe it was lower classes of cars only that raced for free. The stands were packed and, close to 30 super stocks raced. The other classes had a pretty good turn out too. Did you catch the part we raced for free meaning "NO PAYOUTS"? We didn't expect anything, nobody complained!

Is racing a lost hobby? Do today's racers expect/demand to be paid for having fun? Does it cost too damn much to race therefor everyone needs to be paid?

Not that we do this for the $ but unlike a lot of other sports hobbies it costs money to race and to keep racing.I know you say well pick another hobby,we love racing and i've been involved since 1979 and it cost a lot less to race back then but they still had a pay out.Racing is basically a "show" or "event"..the racers who bring the cars out are the ones who put on the show.I think there should be some sort of pay out in every class for the racers cost of being there.Nascar,Indy car, even lower series like ARCA,Nascar modifieds etc...would they be there every week if there was no pay out of any kind? just saying

And yes it does cost a lot to race...I live five minutes from the track, race the lowest class and spend $100 every weekend...pit fee, gas, taking your family in etc..that is if nothing happens to the car...
