THIS HAS GOT TO BE SAID:
First of all, let us not lose sight of why this race is run. It is a charity race and I commend Rick Bristol on what he has done with this event over the years. He has helped a lot of people. But that is where my compassion for Rick and his crew stop.
Carl and Rick..you have opened a can of worms on this transmission issue. You both have known for years that the accepted transmission for the trucks across the State of Florida and for the charity race has always been JW Transmissions. However, after all this time you now call the #37 truck wrong. I have known this family a number of years and can tell you straight up...they do not cheat unless people like you come up with bull to call them wrong. Like other posts have stated, this is an after market part, in reference, the off the shelf ZZ4, the built 305's, the Chevy metric rear-end with mandatory Moser axle and the JW Transmission are all after market parts. You have known for years since this charity race started that most all teams use JW. JW Transmissions has come on here and explained in depth about the transmissions for the trucks and has been used for at least 8 years now. Carl you know yourself you have to run the best equipment available in these trucks and JW has been used for years. Carl and Rick you now have double standards. I think it was a set-up (a conspiracy if you will). Who supplied the so called stock parts that you used for reference? Carl I know what you whispered to Mr. Hernandez at the start of the transmission tear down but for your sake I will not print that. When you make calls like this and Carl you did have the final say (supposedly) you put the integrity of a driver and team at risk. Nick Hernandez is a fine young driver and has a great crew that always handles themselves professionally. This sport could use more like them. Since 2006 this truck has won many races and championships and has always been targeted. It has been through several tear downs and even claimed and has always deemed to be legal. I will add, never an engine, rear-end or especially a transmission failure. I know the #37 team will never see the money or the trophy but you need to make right where right is due. And to quote a great philosopher "Carl's tech is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you are going to get". I know for a fact that you have let some very questionable trucks thru tech in some of the past charity races. The #37 team always strives to do things legal and does their homework. It is time for you to step up to the plate, if you are going to change the rules race to race or event to event, you need to let the teams know ahead of time. Do not be blindsiding people or some teams may choose not to run your events. Now let's all see if Carl and Rick are going to change what a good percentage of trucks run in this state races and events. I challenge all the tracks and their tech officials to come on here and state their opinion.
