Tim, I have no idea if they contacted any promotor in Florida. My comment was i wondered if they did and what was the answer. Second, I'm sure they/northern and southern promotors had there hands full with this issue. Is it good, I guess so. They don't seem to mind. Have progressive or other SPEC motor builders here in Florida "that you can only run in Florida without a chip" run WITH a chip out of state that's regulated by the series or track promotors.
These promotors see what the difference is by the weight. Not only are you getting a 50lb weight break but, your running ALUMINUM heads. Hmmmm. Wonder how much of a weight break is that compared to a STEEL head motor. never weighed them, don't care too.
Once again here we go, I'm not trying to stir things up, just pointing out that somebody has taken the bull by the balls and done something about it. If you want to know if they called FASCAR, call Nerone. Don't know, don't care. he's dug his own grave with this issue.

I understand. When a racer takes their car out of state or runs with another sanctioning body, it is up to the promoter there to impose restrictions or give concessions as they see fit. That has nothing to do with Florida racing or its Promoters.

As far a S.E.A.L. goes, the answer is no. Nobody involved in the Florida spec motor program has been contacted, much less invited or asked an opinion about it. It is a self serving alliance to protect the product of its founders. It's simply a line drawn in the sand to define the sides. And I do believe that's a good thing.

As far as Don digging his own grave, I beleive Don will go to his grave defending this program because it helps the racers. The engine itself needs no defense or an "alliance" to protect it. It has proven itself in cost, performance and reliability.

Ok, I have to get to work or I'm going to get fired. Thank you for everyones input and comments. Hope I have not offended anyone. Have a great day!

this is a joke, so is Nixions comments

And everyone wonders what is wrong with Late Model racing. Tim I am sorry, if Don said put 4 bangers in em you would agree. He's your boss. Don't ask a guy for opinion then rip him on it.

Nixion says you have to have 25 to 30 cars to have a better race. Before I left I had asa late models south and asa southeast lined up for SGMP. He got rid of em. Want to know why? They don't bring enough cars and it isn't a good show. I'm not the smartest man but 30 to 40 or 14? Geez hard one to figure out there. Last year I started on the package at SGMP that I ran in the north. This started over half way through season. I was going to run it full time this year. Heck I had 14 showing up. And knew of 7 cars bought and some more being built. New manager and new rules came in. Most of them sold cars right away. Another couple basicaly ran out. SPEC motors or sealed motors what ever the hell you want to call them is not all good. Nixion made comment engine builders have the control. WHAT? NEVER and I mean never did a engine builder have control where I was. No offense to engine builders. Why would you let the kids run the school? This hole deal is on a spiral downward in the south. Open it up and deal with it with the carb and weight and tires. Run a hard ass tire that you can use for couple races. Hard tire will even it out. It was said when Nixion came in as a "consultant" that he has ran tracks and knew what he was doing and that track at SGMP had to get organized. Basicaly then the knife went in my back. I have sat and not said much while he has run it back in the ground. So Dennis, what track have you ran and been so great at???? Chasis dude can vouch for my success in building a late model div. Where have you done this? You my man have no clue what it takes to build this. I am beginning to wonder if late model racing will even survive in the South in Florida and Georgia. Good luck to all ya. When it falls go to what has been proven at many track and some series.

Mansfield Motorsports Speedway's 2006 NASCAR Weekly Racing Series season was completed on Saturday September 9, and with the completion of the event also brings with it the end of weekly racing at the banked half-mile asphalt oval. In 2007, MMS will present an 8-10 event schedule of major specials rather than offer a weekly program. The track was the last weekly racing track to hold a national-level NASCAR touring series race with the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series visiting each of the past three years.
"Anyone who knows me personally knows that this is a hard decision for me to make," said MMS president Chris Mize. "I am a big supporter of weekly short track racing, and once we decided that is the direction we were going in 2007 it literally made me sick. But this is a business and what our business model tells us is we need to focus on a schedule of eight to ten events on the oval track rather than trying to race 20 or more times.

"I'd like to thank all of the drivers, teams, and fans that have supported us the past several years," Mize continued. "We have had a great field of drivers this season in all of our divisions. Things just haven't gone quite as we expected with our weekly shows, and with today's business environment we thought it made more sense to make the change now rather than wait until things got worse and hurt everyone.

All respect for your supporting weekly racing but apparently, with your largest car count in America, it wasn't enough to justify continuing. I agree with the concept, but you failed in making it work for EVERYONE. I can tell every racer what they want to here but that is not what will make the sport we love survive. What is the point in making people happy and then telling them to find some place else to race next season. Like me or hate me but I am for the show that fans see. The racers bring the show which makes me for them as well, but I will not let the show or the racers break the bank. I'm in it for the long haul, not a popularity contest. I refuse to tell the racers "I'm sorry but it didn't work".

If you want to call my boss.....I haven't asked him for permission to write anything on here. Who knows he might fire me. Then you can have the job that you were already hired to do once..........until I said I would stay.

Have any of you folks read the artical in Circle Track mag (July issue)

Keith Dorton has some pretty good insight on this stuff.

Oh and Tim,,,,, Chris was a great manager here and really knows what he is talking about. I will admit when I first met him I thought he was an a$$ but I got to know him better I found out what made him tick. I believe he and I made a good team. If things had stayed as they were the track in south Georgia would have had a great season in 08, we had reworked the rules built driver and owner trust and they were excited and we were to. Then came the knife.

LOL Funny Tim you post all that. Mansfield left weekly racing because the owner didn't want to do it anymore. His overhead is the downfall and will be. Weekly was making money but he and his better half didn't want to be at the track so much. And one of my points exactly that I made in my post. You say what your boss tells you at times. It wasn't a cut on you when I said you have to agree with Don. One of the reasons I left Mansfield was because of no weekly racing. You decided to stay? That track got sold. There was talks going on 3 months with me before Don bought it. I didn't realize you wanted to get into a pissing match. I never said you was doing a bad job. Don't know you or what you are about. I was approuched I didn't go to them. So why was I approuched? Did you know of this? How is the car count at CMP? What I thought Tim. I have no beef with you or Don. But if you want to fine with me. I been gone after by way bigger then you. My whole point in that post is that Nixion has no clue what he is doing. Not you. But if you want to stand up for him go ahead. Nixion is a backstabber that will say anything to make you believe he knows something when he doesn't.

I have no desire to "go after" anyone personally. I apologize if i made it that way. Obviously your beef is with him. I intentionally avoided your topics until you basically referred to me as a tool. I choose my own words by the facts that I see before me. I don't know you, just looking at the facts. People don't usually stop doing what is that successful. It doesn't make business sense. After being 17 million dollars (in improvements alone) in the hole, with being credited for haveing the largest late model fields in the country, they just stopped what was making money?

As far as CMP car counts go, they have grown by 70% in 9 weeks. We still need a whole lot more but it grows a little every week. We will continue to do what we do. Good luck in your future plans.

On a good note for you, after this I bet your phone doesn't ring so much on Saturday nights anymore.

Tim, believe me, it wasn't my idea. I think we went way off track. I will say this and everyone can check on it. Avg car count in 2006 season for 16 races was 27. The rule package is a great package. BUT I can not take all the credit. Dave Erhet from Massilon Ohio, a car owner and Jerry Mack a former tech director at Mansfield had a great deal if not more then me in this back in 2004. First year in 2005 avg was 18. It worked. Why reinvent? If it works use it. Alot of tracks up north are using this. Facts are facts. ALL TRACKS WILL HURT THIS YEAR. This past weekend wasn't good. Stop and look. Cordele ran PASS series, SGMP ran late model race and so did CMP. There isn't enough cars for this under current rules. Tracks have to start working together. Lake Erie Speedway in Pa. ran close to the same rules as MMP. I can remember letting Joe from Lake Erie come to our cavalcade race to do a tire test for there group up there. WHY? Because when you get along and stay on the same page you get cars. I walked into a land mine with rules last year at SGMP. I tried to make minor changes to make it work. then came Greg. My tech man. We clicked. And yes I do sometimes come off as an a$$hole but when you done this for awhile who doesn't. LOL I'm against spec motors or only getting them from 2 people or even having all crate deal at a weekly track. I am not a Nixion fan. He came in as I said as a "consultant." I know I am going through crap in Mansfield now and I know I do have faults. BUT I have ran the Hooters races. I have ran a NASCAR truck race. Ran I mean set them up and had everything ready for them. I ran ISMA shows. USAC shows. HOSS shows. NAMARS shows. I put together an evacuation plan NASCAR uses for facilities. I have ran 2 and even 3 day big shows. Fall modified nationals being one of em. I have dealt with racing from the very top to the very bottom. Take all them groups, big name groups and throw them in a bag. I love weekly racing way more then being involved with them. I wish CMP all the best. I'm not a big Don fan but I don't dislike him either. The man has been in racing for a long time. And has done good with FASCAR. You have to repect that. My deal with Dennis is different. He blew a line of smoke 20 miles wide about how he has run so many things. The knife went in me every chance. I ageed with SGMP owners that it would be best if I left because we had 2 different directions and it wasn't working. It was agreed by both. I didn't get fired and I didn't quit. I left. Now what is going on there? Like I said Tim no beef with you or Don. Don has way more then proved himself years ago. I don't have to agree with everything he does to respect him. BUT everytime Dennis says something in public that he has no clue about I will write about it and let people know how much he doesn't know. If he is at SGMP or any where else. He knifed the wrong person. He is not liked by alot of people in the racing world and it is time people know. You can only bs so much before it catches ya. Good luck Tim, I really hope CMP does well. It is a great SAT. night short track.

This whole conversation started talking about a Dirt Late Model

Then in that March 4th interview came this "You can't run the McGunegill or the Hamner down here and you can't run the Florida Spec Motor up there." and a few other comments opened the flood gates. First the post on the message board that now has over 4,000 views. Jeff Choquette was the first of many calls after he was named in the interview. That night along with Jeff we had two of the key players Steve McInnis one of the main builders of the Florida Spec Motor and DeWaine McGunegill of McGunegill Racing Engines. In later weeks we heard from many more with names like Dennis Nixon and Don Nerone. Now R.J.Scott boasts the new S.E.A.L. Motor, good idea? Maybe........

Well this week on Real Racin'USA R.J. will tell us all about it!

I beleve that the reason for the drop in sunbelt is nerone, his bull spec motor which is one reason why cra will not be back for speedfest of course a spec motor that has 645 hp on another dyno that is suppose to have around 600hp. the whole reason for this motor was to be a cheap way for a low budget team to become competive has spun out of control were everyone is taking out there 30,000 dollar motor and is putting in a 15,000 dollar motor tells you there is a problem with the people in control of the program and a chip should be installed in them just like the hamner, mcgunegill but that won't happen because the person in charge of the sunbelt series is making money on the motor to so he wants as many sold as possible. anderson is right in the fact that florida late models are in trouble and if this problem isn't fixed there will less and less lte model each year in till there won't be a series what a shame that will be.
