Well damn, if thats the way it is I am just gonna sit back on my fat lazy ass and collect checks from the government. I don't have motivation to work 80 hours a week anymore to provide a better life for my family, the government will do it for me. I don't know about you but the last time I checked we were still in the United States of America. If it was up to me I would start a revolution just like our forefathers did.

Ahhh, to be 30 something again and have ALL the answers! Talk to me in 20 years or so. It's amazing how perspective changes as the decades roll by..... I can almost SMELL the testosterone! Fire in the belly is a GOOD thing, can't fault you for that. It could be aimed a little more effectively though. Me, I thought I had it all figured out too and fact is, I didn't even know the questions!

Yeah, I suppose I pretty much did that. See, I got my life all ass backwards. Spent my youth chasing checkered flags and I'm just now starting my family. Got 2 live in grandkids now, wife, mortgage, all that good stuff. Not a snowball's chance in hell that I'll ever live to see retirement or a paid off mortgage for that matter. I'll breath my last breath trying to earn a paycheck to keep the wolves away from the door for one more week. Racing went bye bye quite awhile ago. That's MY problem, not yours, I made my choices and it is what it is for me. Y'all seem to be totally missing the point. Remember what Kennedy (gee, he was a Democrat, wasn't he?) said. Something like "Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country." I ain't real big on nationalism either. OOOOOOHHHHH! I can hear it now! A commie pinko longhaired tree hugging hippie fag! We KNEW it!!! As far as I'm concerned it oughta be more like "ask not what mankind can do for you, ask what you can do for mankind." Yep, heard it all before. Spoken like a man with a paper asshole. I grew up in the age of aquarious. I took all that stuff seriously and I really believed that our generation was gonna start turning things around and make a difference. I was an idealist then and I'm gonna DIE an idealist. Might do some bitching and whining along the way, and god knows I can't imagine why but I still BELIEVE in the human spirit (God?) I know it's always gonna be a battle but long after I'm dead and gone I believe that good is gonna win out over greed, materialism and self interest.

I just watched a television commercial that about broke my heart . Maybe i'm siding with the wrong group here . It sure opened my eyes . I've heard that the Obama plan is nothing more than a way to kill off old people . but this ... OMG . Its paid for by the Family Research Council , a down the middle organisation that avoids taking sides at all costs . It opens with a white haired gentleman , a war hero , and his wife seated at their dining room table , lost , alone , betrayed by the Obama Health Plan before its even been written . The old man is distraught , he somehow knows the Obama Plan would not pay for his operation , yet the Obama plan would happily pay for abortions . Gut wrenching i know , unfair in the extreme , just what FOX news has been warning us about . And even though the Obama Plan in no way even mentions abortions or payments for abortions , its obvious that this mans dream of a sex change operation is going to fall 100% on his shoulders , while the Obama plan ignores his pleas . This commercial certainly made me think about what could be if this dangerous Obama plan becomes law .

Hey Joker, you don't speak for everyone on this board. I've given my whole life. Just thought it was the right thing to do. Still do if I can. If I hadn't given anything in my life I would probably be a fairly wealthy man now. Unfortunately, I'm one of the poor but I still feel I did the right thing and wouldn't change.

Tedrichard makes one very good point. I, apparently like him, knew everything when I was young. As I've grown older, I know less and less. I expect to die knowing nothing. Apparently, I'm very close.

Did'nt realize it even looked as though I was trying to speak for everyone, but I will correct that in a minute.Not that it makes any difference, but just for the record, I too have spent much of my time over the years giving. I have given away vehicles, money, time toward anyone who needed it. I have opened my home to friends of my kids to try to help them get on thier feet and get their lives straightened out. I own my own business and have given people jobs just because they had nothing else.I love to help people and anyone who knows me knows that. Thats the difference between us. I used my brain, hard work, blood, sweat and tears trying to secure my future so I don't have to work when I am physically unable. 12 years of Football and 4 years as a Machine gunner in the Marine Corps and 11 years in hot Florida Attics and now a business owner working 80 hours a week will do that to you. Now the government wants to take it from me. Not without a fight!

Boy, can I ever relate to that! The older I get the less black and white things look. How come we seem to live in a universe where you can't help one group without taking from another? Guess we just have to make do the best we can. Keep digging till there ain't nothing left to dig with.

Edm , the fact that you worked 80 hours a week and used your brains , blood , sweat , and tears to build a future for your family really only makes you average . Most people do the very same things for their families that you've done for yours , and believe me there are a lot of people who have had it far harder than you .
I'm curious about the " it " that you feel the government wants to take from you . What exactly is this " it " they want , and how are they planning to get it from you ?
