I've been quiet (yea, that's right - QUIET) for a few days because I dont get into certain subjects that won't change one way or the other by my feelings and/or statements and this HEALTHCARE REFORM CRAP is one of them for sure.
Besides, I'm still waiting for OCALA76 to repay me all the big bucks (NO, Not BOBBY BUCKS EITHER) that he owes me. He thinks by paying the nurse for her "Care" he doesn't owe me... but she (NURSE) said his check bounced and she is now gonna have him charge with rape (but her problem is that she's not sure if he was "There" or not) (But I don't judge! - that's between her and him or should have been BETWEEN her and him). And OCALA76 can munch down on that ZUBER he's been bragging bout (bet he'd be good at it).

Hey everyone... if anyone tries to get under your skin or always has something to say on EVERY TOPIC/POST... use the IGNORE OPTION... greatest thing since ice cream... LIFE IS GOOD.

Maybe you shouldn't have taken what I said out of context. If the government decides that you fall into the category that's going to be taxed X amount, you WILL pay X amount. Like it or not. They'll take it away from you, not me! And they'll do with it whatever they decide. Not a damn thing you can do about it. MY point is, once you have the basic needs of your family covered, ANYTHING else is gravy! How much gravy do we need??

When you go without gravy for as long as I did, and worked as hard as I have you would think different. Anyone that knows me knows that I would be the first one to help anybody. If it gets taken from me its a different story.
There are many ways to hide money, not exactly legal but then again thievery is illegal too unless its the government.

I don't blame you, but on this topic I can't stay quiet.

Since when did you start calling Patches your nurse. Jim, I hope you washed her first.

I guess it all boils down to what one's personal philosophy is about why we're here on this planet. There are those who seem to believe that "he who dies with the most toys wins". They must believe that we're put on this planet to look out for number one and to hell with anybody who gets in their way. Then there are those who believe that we're here to take care of each other and that the true measure of a persons life is how many lives have been better because of their efforts. That's the choice that we all have to make. Once you make that choice, then you take what you have to work with and do the best that you can.

              flawed philosophy

tedrichard, I’m guessing by reading your posts that you are a person that believes that no matter how many hours a farmer puts into working his fields, planting his crops and maintaining his equipment, when the crops are harvested, he should share them with everyone even though they did nothing to help, they are still entitled to a portion of those crops. How does that make the farmers life better? Sounds to me that your philosophy is flawed. If you want your life to be better and your family to have more, it's your responsibility to provide that. Not mine or anyone elses. How is anyone that is accepting anything from the government making my life better? They are taking food from my family and toys from my kids. If I choose to give and make someones life better, than it's my choice. It's not 'he who dies with the most toys wins', it's he that has done the best for his family and provided a future for them wins.

Yes,it's pretty pitiful that Cuba ranks ahead of the US in healthcare

HOW does Cuba accomplish this? by forcing monthly prenatal checkups and forced abortions for any fetus considered at risk in any way? which is how Cuba brings up their infant survival rating so high even though they are a 3rd world country.

by nationalized health care being "available to all" being counted as far more important than the actual quality of care given or the complexity of procedures that are actually available? oh, so sorry about that, in the States they have the expertise to remove that deep brain tumor and you'd live for 30 years yet but as you're stuck here in Cuba we're just going to give you a morphine drip and you'll be dead inside the month. enjoy!

if you believe anything that comes out of the transnational organizations, you've already given up your intellectual integrity.

there are problems with health care in the US, and they are all caused by the government and health insurance regulations.

you want proof? go price LASIK. 20 years ago LASIK was over $10,000 per eye. the last time i heard an ad, they were under $1,000 per eye with lifetime touchup work guaranteed.

you know why that is? LASIK is/was considered elective surgery and no insurance plan covered it. now that insurance companies are starting to cover it, look for the prices to skyrocket just like all the rest of the medical pricing over the last 40 years.

health care and college education have both maintained inflation rates well over 10% annually since the 70s and they have both done so because of the goverment regulation and subsidation that was in place.

you'd think people would eventually wake up......

There are those who seem to believe that "he who dies with the most toys wins".

and there are those who seem to believe that "he who takes the most toys from someone else wins".

you know once upon a time in this country, it was regular practice to tar and feather federal tax collectors....

and the war for independence was actually initiated over taxes....

also, that you don't have the courage to walk up to me and demand your money in person, that you put it off on some anonymous government functionary and pretend like you don't have anything to do with it doesn't impress me very much.

A couple that have not been brought up are frivolous law suites and malpractice law suites. Both have done a lot to hurt the current health care system.

<<How does that make the farmers life better?>> Like I said, it all depends on what you believe life is about. If you believe that all we are here for is to acquire as much material wealth as possible for you and yours, then I suppose it would be foolish of you to part with ANY gains to anyone outside your circle of responsibility. No matter what one's belief system is, of course the first priority is the survival of yourself and your family. It's what happens with whatever surplus that we are able to generate that we're talking about. Nobody can make that choice for you. We're not talking about materialism here. The farmer who tries to help others with his crops isn't doing that for material gains. He's doing it for [I]spiritual[I][I]reasons. Ever heard of spirituality? There's no dollar value in the world of the spirit. Whatever floats your boat dude! If you think that materialism is going to give you happiness and fulfillment, hey, knock yourself out! Didn't do a damn thing for me though. I do regret though that I didn't figure it out a lot earlier in my life. I was so wrapped up in my own little world thinking that all of lifes answers would come to me just as soon as I started winning lots of races that I never bothered trying to acquire the tools and knowledge that I could have used to be a better person. Guess my old man was right after all, he always said I was great at putting the cart before the horse. Like I said, you play the cards that you're dealt and it pretty much is what it is. Nice if you know what the game is going in though. In the material world, enough is NEVER enough and they keep on changing the damned rules on you. The rules NEVER change on the spiritual side.

So it's ok for you to go up to the farmer, put a gun to his head and take what you consider to be surplus.

Well, at this point in your life I'd say you line up real strongly in the first category. The folks in the second category, well, if you really follow the logic, they're pretty much one and the same. It ain't about TAKING. It's about GIVING. Of course, I'm a brainless idiot, what do I know? Hope it works out for you. Kinda doubt it though.

Your right, it's about giving. Everyone is free to give as much or as little as they want to help those less fortunate. But you are talking about taking. Is that part of your spiritual belief? It's ok to take from everyone else regardless if they can afford it because you say they have a surplus? You’re wanting others to provide you with health insurance for your wife and grandkids. And what are you giving? Oh yea, your giving them cable, cell phones, a computer and internet service (assumed with you spending your time on here) while you expect everyone else to take care of your families health care needs. It's ok if I go without and pay your health care cost so long as you are not deprived of your luxuries.

then why do you keep talking about getting the government to take from me and give to you?

you've already acknowledged that you expect the government to take whatever it decides it feels like from me whether i like it or not....

Well damn, if thats the way it is I am just gonna sit back on my fat lazy ass and collect checks from the government. I don't have motivation to work 80 hours a week anymore to provide a better life for my family, the government will do it for me. I don't know about you but the last time I checked we were still in the United States of America. If it was up to me I would start a revolution just like our forefathers did.
