  • Orlando SpeedWorld Updates

These were posted on Facebook... First by Rusty Marcus:

There WILL be stock car racing at Orlando SpeedWorld Sunday Feb 7 ALL divisions are welcome!!! This is a fun day and I want to reintroduce Orlando SpeedWorld to all of the racers!!! It is a fun day with trophies only!!! Ozzy Moya Moved a Drifting event so that we can accommodate this event!!! We CAN and WILL coexist with the drifters and all others!!! One step into bringing OSW back for Stock Cars!

This was posted later by Bobby Owens:

The Southern Pro Am Truck Series will be at Orlando Speedworld on March 13th for the first of two races. We're all really excited for this opportunity to get Orlando Speedworld back on the map. Visit our website at southernprotrucks.com

Rusty also posted this photo showing the new asphalt that has been put down behind the existing pit area...

It defies logic to me that a facility as nice as this one with no bad seat in the house and paved pits cannot attract a competent promoter with a love for stock car racing. Granted Orlando is in no way a destination city for motorsports but it does have a huge population from which to draw. Hopefully someday the right combination will come along.

Trophies only? Good luck. First question is always "what's the payout"?

I counted 'em and I think Kendo is a few Dollar Signs short of a Speedworld!

If it's for trophys do you get in for free to or do you have to pay for a pit pass

"The first question is always "what's the payout?"

We will be racing for the same purse as SCCA put up last weekend at Sebring. Remember that event? There were 350+ cars racing happily for trophies and points. Yep, plenty of modern, expensive cars, out there driving around for fun.

Some of you guys need to get over yourselves, and race where and when you can. Orlando has not raced stock cars for 11 months. Clearly, they are not interested in paying for hobby level racers.

If only one sprint car showed up, they could have a figure eight sprint car race.

I have a great idea! $5 pit fee for insurance... Then I'll be standing at the pit entrance too... For ten bucks, I'll announce your name, hometown, sponsors and anything else you want within reason... No money, then I'll just refer to you as the blue #93 (sorry Bruce... had to do that LOL) etc. That's of course if there is a working PA system in place - about a 50/50 chance of that happening LOL...

last week i watched racers who had $150,000 race cars race For a payout of $0. The entry fee was $500, a set of tires for $1800. Did not hear one of them Complain about the lack of payout. There were even quite a few drivers from the pro series that brought their cars to race. And Some of you guys are Bitchin about having to spend the $30 per person so that you get to race your car? Hope you enjoy seeing it sit on those jack stands.

lets all take a long ride on a short bus.

I quit fishing because no one was standing at the docks handing out money when i got back, why did you quit racing?

does " All divisions welcome" really mean ALL divisions?
