    how to run a track

if you towed over 50 miles Golden Gate would give you tow money. owners now could learn from the past. Leroy at ccs in 90,s paid more than they today

OS, what do you say we drag the mod down there if I don't sell it before?

        DONE!

Hell, like Boneman, I will rent the thing if you want to defray costs and worry a lot!

ps--De gear, Boss, we need to change de gear...

We could do it here if you got here early enough and you have the appropriate gear.

Or...I dunno, run it in second?

How about $25 at the pit gate. $10 at the front gate and half of the money goes into the purse.
This might not be much but it would be something for the teams and the track to build on.
Every one could share in the out come.
The sponsors money would be 50 50 with the track and the cars. a true partnership.
If you want more purse go out and help to raise the crowd, sponsorship or car count.
I see post all the time that its not the racers job but no one is doing it now so help or park the junk in the backyard.
Sure would like to see the track come back and show a new way to put life into the tracks that we might loose.

IF you think about it, everyone loses money every time you race unless you show up by yourself, don't buy tires or fuel and win every night.

We are basically doing the same as the SCCA.....except we actually exchange money back and forth to make everyone feel good. When the year is over, with MAYBE an exception or two, everyone lost money.

I agree, it is at least fun to know you are racing for money, until you get to the pay window and the reality sets in when they hand you the $100 for finishing 5th and as you walk back to the trailer and are adding up what you spend just that night, you are disappointed again.

I guess it is basically all psychological in how and what you expect....

Michael (altere) has a great line comparing fishing and racing as a hobby as his tag line.....and I know for a fact that he races SCCA on a shoestring budget just like the roundy round guys.....

                        Great post.
I do rember leaving the track and stopping to eat and the bill for the crew was more than we made.
Man we had a great time.
I made a deal at the track one time that I would pay the purse. The track kept track of the tickets for our class in the pits and if we didn't bring in enough to pay the purse I would pay the difference. In the end it didn't cost much.
Then I started to do car shows in town on sat morning and gave pit passes away that I was going to have to buy anyway.
the croud started to talk about the class and things were going good.
The rest of the class wanted more purse or they wouldn't come anymore.
They went away in the next year. Sure miss the old southern mods..lol
Does the racer ever learn the track cost more than the car.
                        Pay me to bowl
                        Pay me to skate
                        pay me to hunt
                        pay me to fish
                        sounds good to me

Hey Boneman. We're bringing our winged sprint. Could use
someone to run with. It would be lonesome running solo.
