Hey short track1. The strictly stocks might be the only ones that show up but our stuff isn't junk. We're racing within our means. I'm sure we would all have a modified if we could afford it.

    Long live OSW.

A few years ago I rember the same tread on here and I posted something about its not going to work and it hasent.
The idea of showing the tracks that they have to pay more money or we will leave them on jack stands has killed short track racing as a sport.
the car counts went down. Then the fan counts went down. Now the tracks are going down. How many have we lost .
Soon you will be taking your car to the scrap yard and scrap is down also.
If you want to race in the years to come supporting your local track might be a good idea.
When the land is sold for some other money making venture and the tracks are gone we all can say....wasent racing great..

This is off topic, but still kinda relevant. I heard this rumor a few weeks ago, but it looks like it is true. The 1/2 mile oval at South GA Motorsports Park is in the process of being converted to a red clay dirt track. From what I heard they are removing the asphalt, not just dumping dirt on top. I figured the drag guys would revolt? I wonder if this will be the future of Orlando?

Don I think most have already wrote OSW off nobody has said a word till now . and cake I don't know what strictly stock you run but New Smyrna only had 4/8 cars in that class and they got a pay out . how many you think are going to come to osw and race for trophies ? and pay to get in really tell what you think .

If we racers were totally logical, we wouldn't race even if every track doubled the purse, because it's ALWAYS going to be a money losing proposition. ALWAYS! So...is it better to leave it on stands out of some misguided "principal" that you deserve to get paid to race? Do you know WHY you think that? Because that's how it's always been in circle track.

Know why the SCCA guys race their $150k cars for a trophy? Cuz that's how it's always been.

So back to the REAL question. Do you want to race? Then race. Does the $125 dollars for finishing 4th REALLY the difference between you racing or staying home?

I haven't been here in a while so haven't kept up with this. However, today I was reading a post where South Georgia Motorsports Park was covering their track with clay. I don't know if they tore up the asphalt or just put it on top. I believe the same guy owns that and Orlando.

4/8 most likely. And the payout helps a lot at NSS with the tow bill for the 100 mile trip back and forth. But racing at OSW with no payout is better than no racing at all am I right?

Yes sir. you are correct. my measly purse didn't even tip the scale of cost to race.

                      Cake--you are right.

BUT, with no payout fewer cars will come, and far fewer high dollar cars.

                      The rear gate falls flat.

With fewer cars, fewer spectators will come. Give me a 100 lap Modified race or even $1500 to win Sportsman race and I will be there.

The "better than none" racing? Maybe, but probably not.

Now the front gate falls flat.

Annnnnnnnnd it slowly, painfully, grinds to a halt. Again.

Go boneman Hopefully this might get something started at OSW. I remember having one of these a long time ago at OSW maybe 20 years ago ran a ministock on a sunday race don't think there was any payout and I had a absolute blast. If I remember correct there was a decent car turn out. Almost worth the time for me to try and find something to rent.

all I'm saying is nut up. Shut up. Bring your car and go race or watch. There might not be another chance to race a stock car there again. Why piss away what could be one of the last if not the last opportunity to race a stock car there?

short track. You will be there regardless of what you say. You always support the place by being in attendance and I appreciate that loyalty and commitment
