Doug,
A couple of questions:
Why are the outer sides of the frame removed where the springs pass though?
So that the springs can be quickly changed?
Will they later be "plated"? If not, is the frame not compromised, strength wise? I realize it is common practice, though.
Also, the A Frame mounts--while the whole deal is beefy, will you be adding gussets there perpendicular to the mounts back to the frame for strength?
I also realize that weight is the enemy...

NSS has the wider track so the ford lowers can be used with the WIDER offset rules. If you go to the other tracks you just change the lowers back to GM and you use the same wheels to get back to 78". It is not perfect but it works for certain teams to have the advantage.
THERE IS NO GOOD REASON TO HAVE A WIDER TRACK AT NSS.
I SEE THE TRACK HAS NOT ANSWERED THE QUESTION ABOUT ALLOWING THE WIDER IMPALA FAB CLIP CARS AT SPEED WEEKS
IS DICKY PULLING THE STRINGS ON THESE RULES????????

Doug, looks good man, you do nice work, great job man. I know you are busy but can you tell me the dimension differences of the GM bottom A arm to the Ford. I ask that question before and never got a answer, I wanted to put on Ford arms on our Ellis so I could get away from those 1 inch offset wheels on the right side that we have to use to get the 78 in width. Just curous if the Ford arm will mount into the Ellis chevelle clip??

I think there should be more concern on the height difference from the bottom a-arm mount to the crossmember. I'm not a believer in these fab front clips on modifieds but if they are going to be allowed they should be checked to meet spec's of a stock front clip. Some where I read the difference is 3 1/2 inchs and when we was checking roll center on our Ellis chassis that is exactly what it measured, so don't let these fab clips get away with moving the mounting points of the lower arms. I tried looking up a lot of modified rules around the country and everywhere I seen was 78 inch width, maybe this 84 inch was to help the guys with the fab clips, not sure but like I said we don't need a fab clip in modifieds, you want to run one build a late model. Who's stupid idea was this to start this fab clips for modifieds, Ricky's or Dickies???
