So, there is a "comics corner", but this seems soooooo appropriate here (and now):

Didja hear about the "Hillary Special" at KFC?

Two small breasts, two large thighs, and a left wing!

(apologies in advance to anyone that is offended. If you like, send me a pm for further apologies)

Never said that either If you do it right and it's an entertaining show, it WILL work. Fans want to be entertained. Florida racing for the most part currently is not entertaining.

I am far from liberal... Unlike you, I am absolutely 100% against splitting divisions up continuously to make everyone in the pit area happy. I say put all similar divisions into one larger total and if the drivers don't like it, either learn to like it or move to a division they feel more competitive in. You won't lose back gate, you will only gain front gate. That's what goes on in every other part of this country. Enough with this politically correct make everyone happy bullshit. It's killing the sport. Desoto for one has become insane, I count about 17 divisions on their schedule and most of them could combine down to make about 5 total weekly divisions plus touring series.

You know what happens if a division maintains less than 10 cars per week average here? It gets absorbed into another similar division or abolished completely. Sure, people bitch and moan that their divisions was killed off, but if it's not putting asses in the seats, what good is it to the track?

No, i've never been one that says we have too many classes. And i've never suggested that the classes be combined into one big class called stock cars.
No, wait.......that's exactly what i've always said on this board and everywhere else.
As for the famous "Waterford formula for success", you say it packs the place, you say you never said it would pack a track in Florida, and now you think it will pack a Florida track, but only if it's entertaining. By the way, you're the only person in history to suggest that a program consisting of V8 Bombers, 4 cyls. and Legends and Bandoleros would be entertaining. We're all confused.

But no matter, the races in Florida and many other parts of the country ( including the Northeast) are simply not very good. And in most cases it's because the track owners and promoters aren't doing their jobs. But tracks like Desoto and Showtime have made remarkable comebacks, that tells me that other tracks can do the same.

Actually, am starting to think Pheel is an "abolishionist".

So far he has abolished not only toilets but entire 4 car classes...

The waterford formula for success is simple. Good on track product = entertainment for fans

Let's do a quick rundown here.. Waterford facilities SUCK, Waterford food SUCKS, Waterford Management SUCKS Waterford racing AWESOME... Is that black and white enough for you simpleton? Scott just text me, he has seen 4 different management teams through Waterford since the 90s. They have all driven the place deeper and deeper into the ground but, the racing stays consistent and so does the crowd. There is an obvious connection right there despite the major downfalls of the facility and it's ownership/management.

I have never once stated I don't think the same type of racing would pack the stands in FL. It might take a little bit to get it built back up and get the word out which would require the tracks doing their jobs, but I 100% believe it can be done. The only time you will EVER fill any entertainment venue be it racing, sports, music, amusment etc is if the product is entertaining. FACT

I am apparently not the only person to think that a race comprised of V8 bombers and 4cyls would work because if you look at some pictures of the events held at that little shithole track in Melbourne, they easily had more fans than NSS, Citrus, Bronson etc and it was standing room only, no real grandstands. So, there are people who find that racing entertaining and enjoyable. There IS something for everyone. If it's not your thing, oh well, but you can not rightfully say it won' work because it doesn't interest you particularly. Truthfully, it doesn't entertain me either really, but you know what. It has PROVEN to work at Waterford, Wall, Caraway and other tracks up and down the east coast. Hell, when Charlotte Motor Speedway does their nights where they only host School Bus races, Bandos and Legends they easily pull 2000-3000 people... Something for everyone, anywhere you go. FACT

Nice name calling for the Melbourne track. Get ready for angry responses from the fans and management.

The place is/was a shithole... Just stating facts here. Doesn't mean they didn't have a good show, just like Waterford. It also, as I have stated, is a shit hole. If it's a good show, people will come. My exact point proven, thank you.

                    Hasn't Melbourne been abolished?

And aren't the cars and fans coming to Bitlo?

                    And isn't Phil a Pro-Bilthlonian?

                      I am pro-anytrackian lol

I want to see all tracks succeed and thrive.

Melbourne was closed down for a number of reasons from what I have been told. From county issues to flooding on the property. If not for the issues, I bet the place would still be open. From the videos I have seen, it looked like some pretty good racing.

As soon as we figure out what your constantly shifting point is, we'll decide if it's proven or not.
I don't think the problem with OSW is as much being run into the ground ( which it certainly was ) as much as it's been essentially closed for the last 6 years or so. So the fan base such as it was, found something else to do on race nights. Same goes for Showtime, Putnam, Lake City. Showtime has made a comeback, but then St. Pete has always had a strong fan base for stock car racing.

My point has never shifted skip. Stop using that as your excuse here. I've stayed as consistent as your ability to mix words and make up stories to suit your beliefs here.

                          • WHY has St Pete always had a strong base? I have always looked forward to driving 3 hours to St Pete as opposed to attending closer venues.

Is it the folks? If that is the case, a lot of this is a moot point. And I am not certain that it isn't, to some extent. St Pete--always packed, Bithlo (mostly) always empty.

Is it the promotin' money? To some extent, certainly. Hard to yabber up promotin' money on KARNAC.

Is it the prize money? The place gets plenty of cars--and one can count on plenty of cars being there. For a "regular show" do they pay more?

Is it the racers? Do they simply like St Pete "better"? If so, that is also hard to overcome.

Don't know why it's always been popular, i'm not sure anyone can tell you for sure. Maybe Jim Fenton has some ideas on that. It always seemed to draw cars and fans over the years. I think toward the end, it kind of dropped off. But then Yoho fires the place up again and the fans and racers come out of the wood work.
I'm sure it has to do with the money he pays. I'd imagine he also talks to each racer all the time to make sure they're coming out to race each week. And most of all, he promotes.
On a side note, i've been told that he pretty much ignores the dragstrip that he has on the same property. Been told he's not very popular around that track. But again, the cars still seem to show up there every week anyway. St. Pete just seems to have a big fan and racer base for some reason.
