I was not aware of that. Thank you for that info. Indeed the R750 is not the same as the old 750. However, they did not test the same 800 as we tested. They tested the S800. Which also is a different tire. The S800 has a stiffer sidewall along with it's hard compound. Donny Williams said that the S800 was "undriveable". The regular 800 was just fine. It's sidewall held up, didn't roll over and had adequate grip. Jeff conveniently didn't bring any of the regular 800's with him for this test (even though he provided them for our test). You know, the one you insultingly called the "internet" test. And BTW we tested the 800 and 700 EXACTLY the same way Jeff conducted his tests (this was confirmed by NSS). Only our test was more thorough than Jeff's since we also tested USED 800's. Jeff's test did not include USED R750's. Maybe Jeff can learn from us "internet" testers and provide USED tires in the future so that the performance of how the tire holds up over time can be measured. That's one of the things that NSS was interested in. The performance of the tire as a take-off tire. Jeff's test provided ZERO information on how the R750 will hold up over time. You had a funny way of trying to "help" us with your condescending and "holier than thou" attitude stating that we didn't know how to do a tire test. You know Don, despite all the bad things I have heard about you, I always showed you respect on this board. I was raised to judge people based upon your interaction with them, not what other people say. I tried to do that but when you suggested I should "bust my smart mouth in the wall" at NSS and insinuate that I am stupid and have no clue how to test tires and then try and push my buttons, in addition to denouncing my real-world based research of the 800 as "horse crap", well, It's hard to remain unbiased. I was all fine and good with letting the tire people do their thing, but the tire people had left us on this horrible 650/450 combination that left support class racers on a tire combo that lasted 1 race at a whopping $550+ a set. More than a set of F-53's. Hardly a good scenario for budget strapped support class racers. When I put up my post asking for a change and suggesting the 800 it was July 8th. When I talked to Critter and Kim neither mentioned anything about Jeff having any plans for getting us off those crap tires. They were working on it 3 years and Jeff was pushing for a new tire? Well, they kept it under tight wraps because no one knew anything about it until Critter and Kim asked for a set of 800's to test with. I'm convinced that if I didn't start the ball rolling with my thread we'd still be on the 650/450's for 2015. The only thing I don't like about Jeff is the way he handled this whole deal. Like I said, when asked about the 800 he should have just asked us to hold tight, wait for the new tire and commit to having it ready for 2015. No sweat. That's all we were looking for. A better tire for 2015. If you look back, you were against changing tires initially. Boy have you changed your tune. It's really no big deal. I have a pretty thick skin and none of this bothers me. I DO wish that Patrick, myself and Shannon (as well as the NSS staff and other volunteers from our crews) didn't have to waste our time and money on our test. In the end this R750 appears to be somewhat of a revolutionary tire and that's pretty freakin' cool. What absolutely sucks is that this tire is getting rammed down the throats of the OWM guys who don't want it and are perfectly happy with the F-53. They shouldn't have to be forced to use this tire (which most of them say they will still only use for one race). They are being made unwilling donors of take-offs. I am guessing the ribbed R750 will also cost more than the F-53 like the 650/450's did. Real crappy to pay more for something you don't want. If this was the intention from the beginning (our test only had a Sportsman and a Super Stock) then they should have had a seat at the discussion table. If the intention from the git-go was to have ONE TIRE for all 8" rim classes that was suitable as a take off, then the also brand new 2040 slick should have been the tire Jeff brought to test. In testing at Stafford the tire performed as well or better than the R750 (20 heat cycles and lost less than a half of a tenth in 500 laps). Although the OWM's have struggled to draw big fields at NSS, they are drawing enormously well over here on the West Coast and have tons of big races between Desoto and Showtime. It would suck if any of them parked their cars over this issue. As you can see on this and other threads, they ain't too happy. Now don't get me wrong. I'm very excited to see the R750 mandated as the tire for Sportsman classes on down across the state. It appears it will be a good take off tire from "well to do" Sportsman teams to Super and Street Stock guys. That was one of the goals from the beginning. Will it last as long as the 800? That remains to be seen. But I'm not going to split hairs. I'm just happy to be off the 650/450 garbage. But let's use some common sense and keep the OWM guys on the tire they want. The F-53. There's no plausible reason why we all can't win on this deal. If Jeff truly cares about Florida racing, as you claim, then this shouldn't be an issue.
Do you rember me telling you that they had a differsnt 800 and a new 750 tire and you told ne that they were the same tire for years?
I wanted o give you this new info before you got every thing going the wrong way. At the time I could not post any of this info so I asked you to call me and you refused.
Rember?
Im not trying to do any thing but keep the info on here right and now after all the books you post your still in te dark.
Your the last person that Jeff would let know anything.
try catching the bear with some honey.

Ok done with this tire deal
Good luck and Merry Christmas

He did say that he is only running a few Modified races next year, he was looking at the tire for his normal Saturday race classes. The tire had real good feedback from the modified car as well as the other classes.

Modifieds need to run on a slicks in my opinion, and this tire is a hair slower.

I will buy 4 tires for each race either way, hell on the big money races we practice on new tires as well.

We will not run away from the R750 tire if that what the tracks want to run, they are a tire you can race on. We all have a bad taste in our months from the 450/650 tire and I can understand your feeling against the R750.

Anyone that want to try the R750 we will have a set mounted from the test as well as a new set to look at, at the 12-31-14 race at Showtime.

The first practice at Showtime we will be running the test set of R750 to see how it changed since the test.
Depending on how the first practice goes I may bolt them on...... If its still an issue.....

Don I painstakingly spelled the out the truth of the matters and you still don't get it. A lot happened way before then. It's all in the thread from July on. You can believe your own fantasies if you want to. Everyone that can read knows what happened. Good grief.

And a Very Merry Christmas to you and your family, Old School! And also Merry Christmas to all the KARNAC posters who thoughtfully, respectfully and honestly debate the issues concerning local racing on here (YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!). When we debate in a respectful and intelligent manner, our opinions and recommendations can sometimes be considered by the powers that be. This tire deal is a good example. Happy New Year, too! I have a feeling 2015 is gonna be pretty cool...

Indeed. I can tell you that prior to reading your posts I was a lot more indifferent to the Sportsman class in general.

To be honest, I will probably still travel to see the high dollar cars first, but I also made a pretty good run to see the Sportsman event at Auburndale and was not disappointed. And will do it again.

I would not have given it a second thought if it wasn't for the posts on this board.

The problem here from the beginning was Jeff. He was his own worst enemy. A little tranparency and some up front honesty would have made this whole ordeal less of a soap opera and eliminated the drama. When I started the thread and the consensus was that this made a hell of a lot of sense we were told that we better get on the ball since the distributor needed to know pretty rapidly what the tracks tire needs were going to be in 2015, if they expected those needs to be met. It was July. They were in a hurry, not us. I was aware of the demand to know the tire needs early. That's why I timed my thread when I did. I had been contemplating this for a long time. Critter was informed by Jeff of the new tire being developed and they wanted Patrick to test it and the 800 in early August

So you knew in July they had a new tire to test??
you have been contemplating this. Are you running for KARNAC tire promoter of the year.
They all had it under control . The only thing that went wrong is your loose keyboard.
I have taken a spot in racing agin so I cant play on here anymore..
Merry Christmas to all

Keep cherry picking my posts to support your delusions if it makes you feel better, Don.

I really don't care about winning any internet pissing contest with you. Call yourself the winner if it helps your ego.

The whole point was to get the budget divisions off of a crap one-race tire. The R750, from early reports seems to be a very good tire that will last. Mission accomplished. All of the other nonsense is immaterial and just noise at this point. But feel free to keep posting if you want, Don.

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!!
