I actually like Jerry in real life but somebody has to keep him on his toes on the interweb. He's usually right about everything racing so it's fun to get on his case when he makes a blooper.

I have a good ideal why don't you guys quick worrying about it . the guys that run e mod run it because they want to . if they want to spend more money they would be running a different class. there are some classes I don't like to watch but I am not on here running them down. its funny really out of all the classes. this is the one everybody is worried about why because it makes the most since and NSS are the only ones running them . talk about someone sounding like a broken record.

The problem I see with the Open Mods is the somewhat unlimited engine rules. There are guys running with used NASCAR SB2 engines. How do you compete with that? Over here on the west coast its not a problem because we have big car counts. At NSS & OSW the car counts are painfully small. Even the Gov. Cup $5000 to win race couldnt draw a big field. IMHO ideally one Mod class with the 400 hp 604 crate that costs $5000 would grow the division yet still be good fast racing. Problem is, everyones motors now would be no good. Not sure what the answer is but it will likely take a bold decision that will piss a lot of people off to get the division growing again on the east coast. I don't know how the decision got made to allow the nearly unlimited engines but jt is killing the class. Im sure there are a lot of them in mothballs because they dont feel that they have the hp to compete anymore.

I know dd. The e mods use the 602. I made reference,if you read again, that the 604 in LM seem to do ok.
At least 2 of the e mods I race, with 602 crates, stay with the built motors we run and very competitive.

You have an idea here Scott. Run the 604 and the current built SS motor. Only allow the SS motor to use roller rockers and a 4 barrel carb same as the 604. Also put them on the 8" slicks, not the treaded tire. Right now I can change rockers and carb and run with the full mod about 1/2 second off the pace..
Don't really know why the track runs us on the treaded tire and not the slick. All other tracks, except Ellisville, have gone to the slick..

              OK TRY THIS..
AM NOT SURE BUT I THINK A E MOD WOULD GO SLOWER ON 10' SLOCKS
              AT THE BIGGERTRACKS OSW NSS'
It would help them at inverness ant alburndale.
The idea is to slow down the big mods not make the e mods faster.
When you go faster it cost tires breaks engines and when you crash it hurts more.
Think I know someone will get it...LOL

76, Is that a 1/2nd off the pace for 1-2 laps like in qualifying? In a race at I/2nd off the pace that would be 1 full second every other lap in racing conditions. And that's if everyone maintained the same speed.

Scott McDade won the track championship at SpeedWorld one year using an engine that had been in his dad's Bomber-type car (I think they called the class Roadrunners at NSS back then)... Somewhere along the line the whole thing morphed into manufactured chassis and $15K or more engines... Same thing that has happened to other "affordable" racing classes in Florida and elsewhere...
Part of what happened was crate engines. Up until recently, engines and engine parts were cheap. Most came out junkyards just like the GM front frame clips. You could use the 350 block you had under the work bench, a set of cyl. heads you had traded for, a crankshaft you bought at a swap meet, a cam you bought from another racer, etc. When the crate engine rules came along, you just paid thousands of dollars up front for about the same performance you already had. A lot of racers didn't have thousands to spend on a crate engine they didn't need but felt they couldn't be competitive without. And in some cases , misguided rule makers forced the racers into crate engines thinking they were saving the racer money. And looking for that track support money from GM and Ford.

I know many of you have complaints about the way things went this year. I bet some of them are perfectly valid too. I hope they will be learning experiences for the new management, and that the competitors and fans can put them aside and focus on the future. Will you be part of the rebuilding process, or part of the problems from the past?

No results or updates on the website in about a month...no schedule out yet when other tracks have had theirs out for a month...History always seems to repeat its self
Check out the dragway sight & 2014 schedule on the website...clear to see where priorities still are.
