  • So you were worried about Speedworld...

To all of you who thought that track wouldn't be cleaned after Crasharama, please note that the racing surface, the infield and the pits were the cleanest I've ever seen them. They not only cleaned up after Crasharama, but they also pressure washed the track using an estimated 20,000 gallons of water. It looked great! How clean was it? The sprinters usually have to scrub the tires before restarts, but we didn't even bother because there was nothing to build up on the tires.

To all of you who worried about the wrist bands from the rainout. Yes, the track honored them like they always said they would. Sorry it took 6 months to reschedule the event, but it was clearly a turbulent year at Speedworld that ended on a good note.

I've heard a lot of the plans for 2014, they are bold and make good business sense, so I am really looking forward to it. Changes are coming and it will be for the better. Stay tuned and bookmark their new site http://www.raceosw.com/

I know many of you have complaints about the way things went this year. I bet some of them are perfectly valid too. I hope they will be learning experiences for the new management, and that the competitors and fans can put them aside and focus on the future. Will you be part of the rebuilding process, or part of the problems from the past?

I've always said that Speedworld is the best racing surface in Florida, and after last night I am more convinced than ever. It is a great track for sprints and it looks like we will be there in force in 2014!

That is good news. I will attend when i can in 2014.
Normalcy is a myth. what is perfectly normal for the Cheetah, Becomes absolute chaos for the Antelope.

Congrats on your 7th place finish Boneman. (unofficial) Truly the best I have seen the Boneman run in his sprint car career. Started on pole, held onto to second for quite a bit of the race. Got trapped up high was passed by #31 Teate, #11 Aguilar, #16 Fritz, #3 Green #7 Kempgems, #55 Nichols who started second won the race followed in order by the above drivers then 7th to #85 Hollinger, #23 Chris Gimmler, #63 Taylor, #9 Alfonso in the top ten. Super Fast at this track. 15 Sprints on hand. Good show. Have other finishes but am looking forward to Announcer Dave's report. Encouraging night with many announcements about 2014.including the TBARA returning for some Saturday night shows. (regular programs on Fridays) Very clean!!! Restroom attendants on hand. Friendly concession people. Good food. Nice start for the Ozzie people. Great to hear Announcer Dave with the call again. Thanks to all the drivers and track staff from this fan for your support of this night's race. Things are looking up for OSW!!! See you 2014.....

Boneman you did good last night good job. well as far as osw goes its diffrent when the sprints are racing. people come to see just you guys race and leave as soon as you guys finished last night it was a mad dash out the gate when they are able to bring fans in on a reg night of raceing and they stay for the whole show then that will show me something. I never could understand why people spend the money to get in and then want to leave early I like to get my moneys worth.

Thought it was a great show. Felt like it ran slow but maybe I'm just used to no heat races and the show being over at 9pm. Not complaining at all heat races is extra racing!

The sprint cars always do a great job of putting on a show. Thanks Boneman and I really appreciate your positive attitude.
However, you seemed to have missed a few things about OSW.

The lights in turn 2 are still not working. (over a month)
The PA system still only has 2 speakers working. (seems like forever)
The "new website" is just a link to the old useless website with no information.
The super stocks had a 50 lapper that nobody knew about and only started 6 cars.
Other racetracks have their 2014 rule books and schedules posted on informative websites.

OSW doesn't have a clue what is going on or what will happen next year. It seems like another year of "let's try this" strategy.

I heard that they want to race the Open Mods with the E-Mods together and all of them on 10" slicks. Really, a 602 crate motor with a 4 barrel (350HP) against a 650HP open motor on 10" slicks. Nice try bubba.

Racers need to have a solid confirmed rule book, payouts and schedule posted (no changes) on the website NOW so that we can make plans or else we will just have to go elsewhere.

Good luck OSW, I really hope that you can get it together.

Ooops, I almost forgot a few other minor points about last night.

OSW had no (ZERO) tires available. I guess it's a good thing that only 6 super stocks showed up. Someone said they were all returned back to Hoosier for credit.

OSW had no air compressor last night. It's broken.

OSW has not had a parts trailer all year. Doesn't Ozzy own a race parts store???

I hate to keep going on and sound like another complainer but it's getting embassising and there is no clear indication of anything better to come next year. Just the same ole BS, only now with drifting cars. Is that going to fix all of the problems?

Lets face it there is nothing OSW can do to satisfy you guys so why don't you save yourself the aggravation and do us all a favor and never go back. I don't think anyone will miss any of you and we won't have to read the negative comments from you just stay away and we will all be happier.

I would love to OSW work we don't need to loose another race track "but" 30 dollas for pet fees and then not even honor NASCAR license discount. Good job Boneman! Hope they can make it work.

OSW created a new fan last night also. I took a friend that had never been to OSW before, and he had a blast. He can't wait to go again, next time bringing his girlfriend and the kids.

I had a great time also, and with the switch back to Fridays, I'll be making it out there more often next year.

well from what I was told last night nascar won"t be back at osw next year and you won"t have to buy any license at all to race . so when I asked what kind of insurance coverage would there be if someone got hurt I was told it would be the same as the drag strip but they didn't know what it was. and also I am not buying any 10 in tires so if they want to run them good luck.

The smaller the tire the better chance you have to run them together. 10" would be a no hope for the crate engines.
                          Try something else....think....

this attitude right here is what hurts the sport and the track. if the complaints are valid (which I haven't seen one on this posting that wasn't yet) why get panties in a bunch? would you rather people lie and say how great everything is, shine shit and act like nothings wrong so no improvements are made?
I did see a little more of an effort..... very little. bathrooms were slightly better. the show lasted longer, but at the same time it was intentionally dragged out. I saw more interaction with the fans, not sure if that was because of the sprint show or the track though.
as far as OSW plans and the being part of the past or the future........ it would help the cause if anyone had anything solid to give us hope. this very vague hype doesn't do anything really as we heard this before with poor results. how about clueing us in if any real plans are in the works instead of only a select few favs.knowing and to the rest of us it is top secret?? as it was left with Jimbo I have no clue if i will be able to run next year at OSW. you want support from the drivers.....give us something to support. will SLM be on the schedule next year? being on Friday nights some people work...... some need to plan ahead to be able to make it, yet no schedule.
its not like we don't want good for the track, we want to know what the plans are so we can plan to support them if at all possible. how hard is it really? damn near every other track has schedules out, and is communicating with the drivers. OSW we get: " it'll be a great year! big things coming. sprint cars and crash a rama will be back. stay tuned to the website " see a problem here?
