  • asked why?

have been asked by many fans why where not going to FUPS double header?after the way we were treated by tech,(rusty) we well never run with them again, asked many times by several people to come run with them,i guess as long as your not fast its ok,after being told on thurs.practicewe were to fast for a crete car, supers were complaining, guess they never had a crete car faster then them in this series so we must be cheating.then told to do techs job.on thurs night was told to have all specs for motor by noon fri or we will not race.to me that is there job, never had to supply them to any other series, the motor is listed in there rule book as legal dodge motor weve been running this motor many yrs in many series, teched many times never illlegal,on friday was pulled out of tech line and parked till after practice then run thru tech.was cused out on phone, called names for not doing his job, crew and driver treated without any respect so we knew we were destend for a dq no matter what,i guess the crete cars can run with the supers, justdont be faster then them,we are ther to be a field filler,to bad we did put on a show for the fans, was told it was the best finish the series had this yr.if we were raced clean by certain super drivers it would have been a win, doesnt matter so called tech man would have dq us for something.to bad the fans well be the ones to suffer(another boring race)same 2or3 drivers allways win!!!!!!!!!

    another

Reason crates dont belong in RACING. Too much finger pointing and too much B.S. Same rules for everyone or Different class

        No Sir

Not a hater......And meant no disrespect to you. And definately understand you running well and they dont like it. And really understand racing on a budget. I just dont like the crates vrs open motors......WHY...because a different set of rules for the same type of car. Dont like crate motors and dont like grooved tires. The sportsman have the same thing going on....can run 4 barrel with crate and not the limited motor. Again no disrespect just pointing out another reason crates should stay in a street rod .

The problem with not allowing crate cars to run is that just about everywhere else in the country they are allowed.. Alot of places have FULL divisions of them running and they usually put on a great race (ex- Speedweeks, where they come down to run; ACT series, etc. etc.)... As for tech with this car I wasn't there (at the race at all), but it seems as if some more information is needed before anything is decided...

Now finger pointing is just not limited to crate engine cars.. There is Finger pointing in every division at every level no matter if it is a 100,000 super late, nascar, or a strictly stock... So one cannot just say that it is exclusive of crates.. So let's take a breath, take a look at what happened and go from there... And hopefully we can all learn from this and move forward to bring another car BACK into the fold...

It is sad that yet another car will not be racing on this double header weekend...

I am not a big fan of crate motors either, but the price is right for many.. And I am one of the BIGGEST HATERS of those damn groove tires, but we have to deal with them until something else is put into play.. But please give us a warning so we can use them up. For my two cents I would love to be back to the Hoosier slick, but hey I have had to learn how to use the ribbed tires because of the rules that we all play by...

          Have a great night all..

            All good points!

The thing I dont understand though is this. Some say money doesn't make a differance. That if you cant keep up you need to work on your car more. You should be able to keep up on old tires, 2-3 man crews that get together at night after work, and "Work on it". The ones that win work on their cars and if you can't keep up you need to work harder. I'm sure this is true but I still say, USUALLY unless it a combo of both, you Ain't gonna win much! I'm not bad mouthing anyone, already said I'm no expert, but.. lets say Wayne Anderson, David Rogers, Tim Russell, Jason Boyd that DO work on their cars a lot, but they also are money teams, and I say good for them. But if they total out, within a very short time, maybe only a couple weeks, they're right back out there with a new car or at least one as good as the last one. Many of them have 2-3 or more cars, someone spent some money, lots of money. Many racers wreck, they can't build another car for a couple yrs, if ever. So it took work AND money. I dont know Fred, but I assume he's not what I call a big money team, if he was he'd probably have a Super Late, I don't know. But it sounds like he has worked on his car to the point he was keeping up or at least running so good the Late Model guys complained and he was made to sit out??? So where did he get rewarded for all his work. Remember, I'm just asking. Sounds like another one gone, I hope not.

I can say that I don't think that the 28 is a big money team and don't bash me just judging by the fact they pulled in with a open trailer. I was not in tech when everything went down but was at the races helping someone else.
I will say that they had a good run going as did some other cars and did put on a heck of a show.
Here's my thought on the crate cars and I also not a big fan but if that what it takes to make a full field then so be it. I hate to see the 28 not run because I met the car owner a few months back and seemed like a really nice person and truely enjoys racing.

Hey Jeff. Sorry to here that you were treated that way. I didn't expect that. Every time I have spoke with Fups about the crate rules they have treated me good. Even Rusty. There was only two track owners that were hard to deal with. What did they dq you for? We have raced with you with that motor for years. Didn't Ricky Brooks go thru that motor at Speedweek?

It is not a problem weather or not to let the crates run. The problem is that they let the supers run in a pro/crate cars division rules. You won't have that problem in the PASS series. They don't allow supers to run with the pro/crates. To much of a disadvantage to the pro/crate cars. Remember, in PASS you can run bee hive springs, crate tranys, ect and even get a weight break against the llm spec motors on the bigger tracks. When I asked PASS why they don't let the supers run they said they wound have to weight over 3200 to make it even close.

In Fups they have the weight to hp ratio at 420 hp for a crate and 455 hp for a supers. They are about 150 hp off on the supers.

Right now the way the rules are, the supers don't have to do their homework to beat a crate or limited. If a crate is beating them something must be wrong because there isn't no way on paper a crate can compete with a super. Right? Like I have said before. If they would put the weight to hp ratio the same for the supers and crates, then us good crate teams will spank the big money super teams.

Congradulations on ANOTHER good run anyway!!!! Miss running with you guys. You guys are on the same end of the budget spectrum as us and it is just like I said in an earlier post. Just as soon as the big money teams start getting beat by a low budget crate team the crying would start. Hummmmmmm

                      Confused

I must be missing something here...the Supers at all tracks but Auburndale and Citrus have to run a 1.050 restrictor...With that being said I believe the "Crate Car" stands one heck of a chance. A Super Spec with the restrictor makes 485 hp max on a good day, a good crate makes 450/460.. the Super weighs 2850 and the crate car 2700. Is 25 to 30 hp worth 150 lbs. I dont think so.. Shawn has a good Crate Car that runs well they have done their homework. He showed up to race and put on a show. The fastest car there didnt win that night and yes it may have been a Crate Car..but it wasnt the 28..Rusty and the FUPS people are doing all they can with what they have, Please give them a break their job is a tough one.

By the way I will take 485 over 600 hp at Citrus or Auburdale any day....you just cant put it to the ground..And I still weigh 150 lbs. more than the Crate Cars...

WTF are you talking about? The PASS series is THE top Super Late Model series in the country. They DO allow crates to run with them with a weight break....do they now have a crate series that I don't know about??? If they do then no $hit they dont allow the supers to run with them....

                          What am I missing here?

Mr South, what FUP race did you run and what was the outcome?

Biggest problem I have with this thread is the that this thread (without saying his name) associates Sean with this. He's a good racer! And he never has a problem getting beat....he comes back stronger....and he wins......you make him look like a quitter which I don't believe he is.

Jeff28 is the owner of Sean's car. Also the restrictors are not 1 size. They are matched to whatever engine you have. BTW a restrictor on a Florida Spec isn't gonna kill it down to 485 H.P.
