One of the main problems with Florida asphalt racing is there are too many different rules packages. If I was the governor of Florida racing we would see two classes of asphalt late models. Crate lates and super lates. I would race them on alternate weekends at tracks close to each other.

      Andrew...

well thank you for such an awesome compliment. i love our drivers and Dustin has always been a favorite. it was never really about his driving ability. it was that beautiful smile and some of his "antics". he is a true performer. i will never forget the time he came to PG looking like a rodeo performer. ;-) i looked in the pits for a horse. well he can handle more horse than one... HP... we have so many wonderful racers who i have watched grow from children to manhood. Of course we know why they are such wonderful kids. they have wonderful parents!
      love u all as always...

Carol. You are very welcome. You are basically just a race fan Carol. You could just come to the track every week or two to see your favorite drivers and go home until the next time you wanted to go back to the track. You didn't. You worked behind the sense every day to help promote the drivers and the tracks. You didn't do it out of greed or for personal gain. You did it because of your passion for the sport. For that I thank you again and will always thank up. I am sure that there is many other driver, car owners, and track owners that feel the same way. There are a few on here that just wait for you to post so they attack you. They know who they are and they are ASSHOLES!!! (sorry i had to say it. Its true) If they would have spent 1/10 the time that they did attacking you, towards the betterment of the sport, the sport and this forum would be a better place. Thanks again for everything that you have done.

Almost forgot. EZ for GOVERNOR!!!!! So Governor, what are we going to do about the combined classes. The rules are not working at all of the tracks. It is in the rules that they can adjust the weights to equal out the classes. They need to do something so ALL of the classes have a chance. Make it so everybody has to " work on their stuff" to have a shot. That would only be fair.

Has anything other than a super won a race in Fast or Fups??????? Anybody???

try this out... a Late model stock car on the tires and rules that are now in play 500 hp is all the car can use. 600 hp wont go any faster just spin the tires.
try to bring them all to the 500 range. a limited spec motor is 500 one the money...Hmm Russell just ran one. whos smart!!
Does anyone believe that a 100lb heaver car is faster in time triles ?
That most of the guys that know what they are dooing are trying to work out the racecar not the engine.
But if you cant keep up it must be the the engine! DA!!!

Don. It would be nice to bring them to 500 hp Don. But a good crate from a certified builder only does about 425 DA!!! 425 can't compete with 600 even if they can only use 500 of it. DA!!!

So Don. "most of The guys that know what they are dooing" How do you get 500 out of a crate.

We are talking about the crates not being able to compete with the supers under the Fups rules. That i think the rules need to be adjusted because in two years only one crate has got one top five. Did you even read the post before you jumped to your reply???

                  Dont run a cate
There is and was no reason to have them to stat with.
they were to be cheaper and they not. Buy the time that you got the package you had to run it cost more than what we were running..
The class of the future. I has failed everyware.. the big thing down here was ASA. GONE. bobby..GONE Buy it from a chevy dealer GONE. easey to teq GONE make them trade engines GONE factory suport GONE ford and mopar factory engines GONE the fans didnt wan to see half powered cars they wanted to see cars that hade more power than the driver could use so there would see a race.
It was a good class for the ritch kids to compeats in but what is the big thing about makeing them the same so they can run with suppers?? If its not the right package for ware you want to race geta engine that is. That is the way it had olwase been.
dont get me wrong i not trying to beat you up but every time someone changes a rule everyone has to spend money and right now is not the time.
The rules can suck but everyone has to play buy the same ones then it fair.

Done tooting my horn thanks for the time and sorry if its hard to read!

Don. I guess you really don't understand what this topic is about. You should really read the WHOLE thing, you see, the crates are already in the rules. It was asked if we thought that the Fups rules were far for all three engine. I think the weight rules need adjusted on the big tracks to be far for all. ADJUST THE WEIGHTS DON. I don't know what the hell you are ranting about, rich kids, chevy dealers, ASA. And then to say it is cheaper to put a super in your car than it is to put a crate in your car is, well,,,,,, how do you say it. (bit my tongue) Uniformed. Let's leave it at that.

Since you really don't have a clue about what we are talking about I would like to see your cost break down that explains how it is cheaper to install a super than it is to install a crate. This should be good. When was the last time you bought a super? Don they don't still cost 6 grand.

OK they cost $6,000!! but a $6,000 engine wont fall out of a tree.
How muchare they from the engine builder that buys one from chevy new then fix it so it will run. You might be right but hen i left the price for just the engine was $11,500 from the top 3 builders and if you didnt have one you wernt in the hunt. Now you need a diff clutch and trans and it goes on and on and on.
If you are racing at alberndale then we are back to that hp to track..All you need is 400hp there and everything else you have will heart you.
I think its good to try and make rules to make all the cars go the same speed but its not cost efective for the other guys to keep changing is what i said.
How much will a super weigh and how small will the carb be when the streetsocks want to join the race?
MR SOUTH dont take it to hard im just trying to get you to see how you got to this point and when will it stop...It cant be fixed now because the hourse is out of the barn. If the tracks would stop expermenting with the rules with out looking at the big pic the racer cant aford to change to race.
How many teams have cars that they cant run in there shop.
A lot of that was my falt and ill take blame for it but we can learn...DONT CHANGE RULES!! they cant aford it anymore.
ok go and tell me all you know
o to answer you the last engine for a super late racecar I payed for was $5,500. it wa 460 hp and the best you could get that year. then Baker built a better one for 10,year latter. 2 yearslatter protype built them for $15,000. 10 years later they were buying them from Yates for 42,000 .
The fl engine builders were $30,000 avg. It had to stop.

                        OK your turn

Don a good crate is around $8500 and a good super is around $18000 plus you need the dry sump system. There is no way to do what you said. Get real and at least supply SOME facts.

And please read all of the post. Every one refers to the "bigger tracks". This has nothing to do with Adale. Get with the program Don. I know you joined in a little late but it is all here to read thru. Please do.

If you will read post #25 you will see where I suggested a weight adjustment. Not adding weight to any car just changing the way that the "handicap weight" is add to a car. There is no cost associated with moving lead around on a racecar. A super stills weights 2850. They still have the same carb. You just change to a minimum right side weight. It is not rocket science and it cost nothing. Don. It can be fixed. And its easy. Or they could take your mentality and think "it can not be fixed" and sit on your thumb and do nothing and we will just keep our cars on jack stands. It is that mentality that is the problem.

I have offered a simple and cost effective way to try and level the playing by field. It would be a step in the right direction anyway. Or we could just sit back and think like The Don thinks. We know how good that works already. Don you need to have an open mine.

Mr South I'm not trying to argue or give you a hard time but there is a concept here that I don't understand. Why should a $18,000 engine be forced to compete with a $8500 engine ? Only a fool would spend the extra money if they were equal in competition. I'm sure every engine builder in the state cringes at the thought of equalizing these cars. I hold firm on my opinion that crates should race crates and built engines should race built engines. There should be a crate late and a super late race on alternating weekends. I would allow the crates to run with the supers is they so choose for car counts. This is just my opinion, and I have a late model roller that I've considered crate racing but I don't want to have my arse handed to me by the supers. I see both sides of this discussion.

EZ. To answer your question. Because it is a combined series. It is for crates, limiteds, and supers. They made it to where the limiters can compete by removing 250 lbs and adding 2 percent left but the crates can't compete. I am not saying to de tune any car. I am saying make it far for all cars if your going to run a combined series. It is not a super series or a crate series or a limited series. It is a combined series. They did that to raise the car count. Why should a crate be a field filler? Why sould a super be the dominate car. Make it far for all or don't have a combined series. It is not far to all of the cars in the series to not have a shot at the win at EVERY TRACK. Is it? It is a combined series.

During Speedweeks we will not run with the supers and the supers will not run with the crates because that is the rules. But the Fups rules have them running together. Shouldnt it be far for all?

Let's put the crate motor in our pickups and put " race car " motors in our racecars.
                                The money comes and goes.
The trophy we get to keep.
