but while the train is barreling down the tracks it gathers a HUGE crowd. and you are one of them. i apologized for what really did happen but was a little confusing. when you are talking to kevin the phones ring off the hook and the door swinging open all the time. its hard to concentrate.... i thought the date was a done deal. it was tentative and i didnt realize it. i was just so excited that kevin would help me with it. i agree with kevin. when he has an event planned the information should be released by a track director and i should have waited. i really dont think racing history will change because of me Matt... i just need to control my excitement.... lol so please try to control your laughter.

well if your almost 70 then youve been around for all 44-45 years that the govenors cup has been run on the same weekend.. that should be common sense for any florida racefan. espically one as "involved" as you.

you say you give praise to good things.. well last time i checked, the govenors cup was GREAT. so how are you giving praise by putting another big SLM race (a series finale) on the same weekend? DONT GET IT!! if 12 cars show up then that will be good... just know they will be the 12 that arent fast enough to run at NSS...

im only responding to you because you always use the Reutimann name on your posts and there are hardly any ppl i respect and admire as much as them.
I have been involved in Fl. racing for about 12 yrs. the first ones i spent pretty much at Charlotte County Speedway. after i met several drivers and got involved with Jack and rick and Karnac i then started to visit other tracks. DSS was one that i loved and i went frequently. NSS and the rest are quite far from where i live so the visits were less frequent.
i can barely remember dates anymore. I have trouble remembering names until i think about them for a few minutes... it isnt funny... it scares me.
when i talked to kevin about the boyd race we did not even think about the Govs cup. it was long before anyone had their schedule and neither of us thought of the cup... its so far away from here that i only remember when i see it posted. it would have been stupid for us to plan a SLM race on the date of such a special race.
i called Kevin the other day and told him we screwed up. he was shocked that i said "we"... he said the date was just tentative and set way too soon. i told him i would get back on the board and fix it which i hope i did.
i try so hard to do things to help racing and to help ppl who are part of the racing family and i just cant believe that some are so mean. i used to spend alot of time crying. it hurt me. now i just try to shut out the mean talk and concentrate on ppl who appreciate someone who cares.
ive made alot of mistakes but mistakes mean you are at least trying. most of the ppl who insult me dont try to do anything. ive been insulted and hurt more than anyone on Karnac and sometimes i probably deserve it.. but i will never stop trying because there are way too many ppl who appreciate when someone supports them.
i hope you understand that the date was in error and it was my fault for posting it. i cant do anything but apologize ... PGS had NOTHING to do with the date picked.
I feel like this lack of judgement on my part has cheapened the purpose of trying to honor Dennis. i hope not and it will happen...and it will not be in conflict with anyone elses SLM or OWM race...and it will be announced first by the staff of PGS... thank you for listening.

OK a mistake was made...if it was a mistake BIG DEAL fix it and move on.
It is good that a bit of over anxiousness got out and this can be fixed. When you are involved with the inside of racing...I think I remember when I was LOL...you get excited about things...yeah somtimes you jump the gun and it is not as good as you thought or somthing has to be different. It sounds like Kevin did not have the intention of scheduling on the Gov Cup or any other race...this is what I gather out of it anyway...but someone got excited about racing and got a little too excited....GOOD! People need to get excited about racing! Now let's see if it gets fixed or if it was some EVIL attempt to destroy racing in the State of Florida

If this is the worst thing that is going to happen it is a good world

check the dates on the Gov. cup, Pete orr memorial and Clyde hart..... any of them on March 5th?... i guess the jokes on me....i did learn a lesson or too tho... i will TRY to contain my excitement from now on... Carol is defending the choice to have a Dennis Boyd Memorial race (but the 6-Pack schedule doesn't even mention that) on March 5th, while Mark is defending HIS point that the November 19th at PGS is scheduled against the 45 year tradition of the Governors Cup race.

Other than the November race, there doesn't seem to be ANY conflict.

I have to agree with dd38 about having the race so far away. If it is March 5th and at PGS then I know I can't be there because I have two fundraisers in two days. If it had been closer, I might of been able to go. Carol, I wish you the best on putting together this event. I will be there in spirit while getting ready for Sunday's big bicycle event raising money to find a cure for diabetes.

i had my kids and my grandchildren AND my great grandchildren with me all day. it was awesome.
I jumped the gun. i was so sure March 5th. was the date we had planned for Dennis's race .It was but i didnt know it was tentative. so when Mark wrote his post i reacted. i had no idea the race was one of Kevins 6 packs.
anyways its over as far as im concerned but the race for Dennis isnt over. just have to be VERY careful we find a suitable date. i am really looking forward to seeing you and sandy again. i tried to call you but all the numbers are not working. email me the new number or call me... ;-) hope your Christmas was special.
