Strictly Stocks - Change the rules to FWD 6 Cyl. cars ONLY.... I agree that we need new blood in the class... That was a boring race Friday night...

Legends - The big problem with the Legends on Friday is that most of these drivers are not "local"... Saturday was no problem for the ones living in Lakeland and further west, but the guys I've talked to say it's impossible to get to Speedworld in time to get at least one hot lap session... Instead, they've opted to run Auburndale on Saturday... In fact the Legends had 16 cars at Auburndale Saturday night which was the biggest field in any class there... Of course, they eliminated half of them before a lap could be completed.. but it was still a pretty good race...

SLM - Great run by David Rogers coming from 13th to win... Found out some interesting info on the new chassis he is running which he really likes... Look for the old man to win a few more this year...

Jim Erb won the strictly stock race Saturday night at NSS, driving a fwd 2001 acura TL. The car passed tech with no problems and no others drive had any complaints.

Jimmy , does that come from a racers point of view or a fan in the stands ? I would think the fans would enjoy closer racing .
A little bit of both, I guess. My dad is a SLM car owner/crew chief, and my brother is a driver. All we saw from the stands was guys on the outside dive-bombing to try and get to the bottom to get out of that high groove after every restart. Winchell was the only one to try and get the leader on the outside, and after about two or three laps of frustration, I think he wanted that bottom groove. You could see that the track was weeping from the grandtstands on the outside groove. I don't think they make for "closer racing". I'll give ya an example: That Legends feature. I hate to see guys that DOMINATE, especially when there's a short field of cars. The only way that 99 car got to the front was because of double-file restarts. Seven in a row - against a six- or seven car field? I'm not impressed.

My main complaint was the spectator side of the track. Like I said, drinks are priced above even Disney...and you can't even bring in your own food/drinks. $2.00 just for a cup of ice? It's a buck-eighty-eight for TEN POUNDS of ice at Wal-Mart. The grandstands look like they're about ready to fall over, what with all the railing/supports rusting through, and the wood seat benches definitely need to be replaced. There's nothing for the kids to do there, no playground or anything like at New Smyrna (although NSS' playground thing *is* small, it's still *something*). The track isn't bringing in once-in-a-lifetime tourists (like Disney); price the food/drinks/admission so that the average family can afford it. Hell, it cost me $30 to get in (two adults), $6 in tolls to get there, $25 in gas, plus whatever we spent on food/drinks on the way over since we can't bring our own stuff in. I had to leave my cooler in the car. :\ I don't think that "features only" is worth $15 a piece per adult.

Well , maybe the passing will get better when drivers get used to the double-file restarts and realize that an outside pass really is an option . Although it sounds like OSW needs to take a hard look at fixing the drainage problem , if its even fixable .

i'm a racer and i like it just fine.

and once we get past the rainy season i think the top groove will do well. for right now though, yeah, it can suck.

That was a boring race Friday night...

don't know what else i can do for ya Dave. started last, caught Kirby and Walters both, passed Kirby twice and was working on the outside of Walters for the second time when they threw the caution/checker.

we do need more cars though.

sorry boys jimmy is right . common sense , singl file restarts equals less wrecks , less cautions , and less torn up racecars . if you or the fans wanna see wrecks , go set up a lawnchair by i-4 . obviously none of you have had to spend thousands repairing your racecar due to some inexperienced bonehead on a double file restart . as far as the facility improvements , dont hold ur breath , as long as you keep showing up fri or sat , why should they fix anything ? empty pits and grandstands will help them get the message . cause they arent listening and dont care .

Well I like the double file restarts as a driver and a fan.the only ones that don't are the ones who are to scared to run the outside.if anyone is worried about wrecking there car or how long it takes to get to the track etc...you Should just stay home.if your a car owner and you crap get torn up all the time you should get a better driver. no one makes you go.I go cause I like it no matter what wrecked car or not. 5min drive or hour
Hey todd what class did you run sat. Night and how did you finish?

That's not common sense. It doesn't really make any sense. True, if you are single file with all the fast cars in front, you have a train race that spectators stay away from. If you are a faster car, but are in the back for some reason, you still have to pass the "inexperienced bonehead" and risk wrecking the car. Double file restarts are more exciting for the spectators, a huge benefit to the driver who know how to restart, and will cause wrecks as long as no one shows any patience or respect. If everyone drives to their ability and maintains their line, there should be no problem. If you drive over your head, cut off others, etc. you are going to have problems whether you are single file or double. If you are a racer, race.

thats ok if your racin a 500 dollar strictly stock , who cares ? but for those who have 20,000 plus invested its not worth the risk . the real racers have gone to other tracks where brains and common sense prevail . or they have just covered them up in the garage . have you checked the car count lately ? or notice the 35 to 40 fans in the stands ? people are fed up with fascar and the soap opera ,no tech , rules change every week , insulting payoffs ,etc , etc . deny it all you want but its reality . the sad part is both tracks could be the top tracks in the south but with the current management they are the embarrassment of the south .

                          haha

dude there is no such thing as a 500 dollar strictly stock( i wish that was true mine cost me 3,000 to put together)...and the people who care are the ones running in stock or lower level classes that dont have money to spend like you (big baller)...they dont want there cars torn up either but we all come to race just like every other class. i do agree that both tracks could be the top tracks in the south.
wrecks are going to happen, single or double file restarts it happens.
the only thing i miss are heat races cuz practice in the heat of the day isnt helping you get set for a feature at night.

My main complaint was on the grandstand side of things. Features only? Ehhh...wasn't *bad* racing, most of it was OK, but for the money, I don't feel like it was worth $15.00 each to get in.

And again, I feel like the "No Coolers" policy should be changed to allow fans to bring their own food and drinks. Like I said, it took me over an hour to drive the 53 or so miles, and that was doing 65-70 on the toll roads to get there. Normally, I have to work on Saturday mornings at 6:30am, and that's what has kept me away. We did take some stuff with us in the cooler, trying to save some money on food, but then saw the sign: "No Coolers, no outside food or drinks." So, again, three bucks for a 20oz Coke is ridiculous. They're not catering to the tourists like Disney is; you're trying to draw in the weekly fan that'll come back week after week.

Nothing for the kids to do, either.

Jimmy , you're right about the prices at the food stands . The tracks over here are just as bad . The old business model these track owners use is going to have to be dropped . Grandstand seat prices have to be capped at $10.00 . Even for special shows . Again , the tracks are competing with movie theaters and other venues that charge at the most $10.00 per person . And the prices don't go up by $5 or even $10 dollars because of a " special " movie . Now the drinks and snacks at the movie theater are priced about the same as the racetracks , but thats just greed . The tracks could make a handsome profit by charging half of what they do . But of course people line up 10 deep at the track to pay those prices for drinks and snacks , so why change ?

No offense but that is exactly what has ruined the strictly stock class. My first 5 strictly stocks didn't cost that much combined. My first one cost less then $100 for everything and I ran several races before crash a rama did it in. I had an absolute blast in that car.

I loved the double file restarts, as a fan and as a driver. I actually saw what the rear of the 111, 25 and 23 sportsman's look like at Nss.
