    It Can't Be This Easy

From Summit, an MSD HEI module with TCD?

"The Digital HEI Module has a unique Traction Control Detection (TCD) code built into its microprocessor.
This technology carefully monitors and examines the signals of the ignition. If the TCD determines
that any signal has been modified in any way, the ignition will be put into a low rpm rev limit mode
to immediately slow the car. Before this rev limit is imposed, the TCD goes through a list of cycles
and checks to qualify that the trigger has been modified. There is no way to bypass or deactivate the
    TCD circuitry."

It would be easy enough to hand these out and watch them be installed before qualifying. Probably they can be defeated, but hey, it's a start.

Anyone familiar with the MSD TCD?

ps--Luke, thx for post #72. Lots of good information for those "looking" to consider.

Mr Brooks, you're the top tech dude around...how many tachometers have you taken apart?

I would love to hear from him as well. This is a interesting thread and no one is bashing. What's your take on T.C. Ricky ?

I started a thread about HEI ignitions in the past. But I never knew about this one. It seem that tech would only have to insure its hooked up properly ?

I dunno. Unless they are hermetically sealed--and the hermit ain't a racer--I would say they would need to be handed out by a track just before a race.

And even then I am uncertain if they can be "gotten around" by the sneaky electron guys making all the money off the racers.

Any additional input regarding this module...?

I was at NSS saturday night, the tech guys brought out an MSD box for the Symons and Bruns cars. They had them remove there's while in Tech and were told to install the exchange boxes with the weatherhead connectors so they can be exchanged at any time. I was told that the Tech guys had NSS buy 5 used boxes, sent them to MSD and they were refurbished and renewed etc. Evidently NSS started working toward this at the end of last season so it looks like they were looking ahead. I was told more Modifieds will be having the same thing done. The removed boxes will be sent to MSD to check and be refurbished.

                Agreed.

Am hoping they are in touch with MSD and are getting their direct information regarding detection.

Sounds like the PN 83645 module might be good to go with the boxes.
