I never said the guy couldnt drive, its just his personality sucks. In fact it far worse then anybody that I can think of in a long time.
Gordon and Edwards both wore out their tires trying to pass by that point too.

What is NASCAR for anymore? Is it a personality contest? Who gives a----? What ever happened to the racing? Like him or not Kyle Busch can drive anything he straps into.

Maybe I am wrong, but I thought bump and run was part of racing.

i agree with most of the rest of the drivers on here ... you'd better not be trying to shove me out of the way unless you want to get driven the same way. but that goes hand in hand with giving the car behind a lane if he's fast enough to catch you and hardly anybody does that either.

having said that:
1. this is a NASCAR race. this is the way NASCAR officiates, this is what they want. they wouldn't penalize Carl if he had destroyed Kyle's car. and they wouldn't penalize Kyle if the situations were reversed.
2. this is Bristol. as rough as NASCAR is, as often as the chrome horn gets used, this track is in a class all it's own. that's about as easy a tap as you're going to get there. Kyle should have been expecting to get hit a lot harder than he was. he should be thankful he finished 2nd instead of near last like Terry Labonte a couple of years ago.




Any racer, whether NASCAR or local short track, will do that if they see they can and win the race.

have you checked out that 'payback' video from Bowman Gray stadium? you ought to take a look at that. there's a price to be paid for this kind of crap, and the other guy doesn't always wait a week or two to cash in.

if you're that much more concerned about holding a trophy than you are about the competition itself, maybe you don't belong on the track.

i agree with this except, it wasn't Dale Sr that "made it acceptable". there have always been drivers who will wreck you to keep from getting passed.

it was NASCAR itself and the way they ( don't ) officiate that legitimized this.





However, don't bump in the turns. It's asking for a wreck, sometimes both cars.

bump and run is only really effective on corner entry. if you're going to do it and make any pretense of having "class", Carl's move was a text book example of how to get it done.

i was somewhat surprised that Kyle didn't cut left in the center of the corner and hook Carl ( destroying Carl's car ). maybe Kyle was a tick late ( he did swing into line behind Carl very abruptly ) but i thought it looked like Kyle just intended to run down the back stretch and do Carl the exact same way but Carl was able to get off the corner well enough that it didn't work for him.




If a faster car gives me a bump, then I go high in the turn.

if you're just talking about bumping a guy to let him know you're there, that's different than a bump and run. and besides, he should have been aware you were all over his bumper in the first place.




I guess Gordon should go tell Gibbs you reap what you sow because what Chubby did to Jeff was uncalled for. Not only move him out the way, then drive into the side of him when fatso had plenty of room at the bottom of the track.

Tony door slammed Gordon because Gordon had just gotten into Hamlin in the very same corner.

do i think Tony was over-reacting? yeah. it looked like pretty incidental contact between Hamlin and Gordon to me. i know, i'm totally shocked that Tony is hot headed myself.

but the door slam didn't have anything to do with Tony trying to make a pass, it was him sending a message to Gordon not to screw with Tony's team mates.

I think the one that should have had the bump and run was Juan Montoya.

actually, i thought Juan was doing a great job for a lap driver.

he was giving a full lane at the bottom of the track, he wasn't crowding the leaders and he was motoring on down the straight. given that he wants to stay on the lead lap or be the first car one lap down, that's what he was supposed to do.

Carl just lost his temper once he lost that huge lead and then had Kyle drive right up and dust all three cars ( Montoya, Edwards and Gordon ) off without breaking a sweat. maybe next time Carl will work more on making his car work on the bottom.

and i like Carl.




Kyle is only mad because when he went to tag Carl back he missed. He could not get in deep enough and he was just slow enough that he did not get another chance

i thought the reason it didn't work is because Carl's car had worked better on the high side the whole night.

Kyle bumped him up off the bottom of the track and only wound up putting Carl where his car liked to run anyway.




Thing about Dale Sr is he had charisma and personality.

that doesn't excuse the on track behavior.





now for the only wreck nobody has paid any attention too so far: Mears, Waltrip, Bowyer.

i think Bowyer was right. Casey's spotter was wrong, but it's not like Casey swerved at the wall. Micheal, already running a lap down, could have eased off the gas or drug the brake and given Casey that 6-12" he needed to pull up in front of Waltrip. but Mikey kept his nose in there. hey Mikey, what'd that get you, anyway? you could make a case that Kyle Petty is actually worse than MW but at least Kyle normally stays out of the way.

now, Bowyer is trying to back off the statement because he "made it in the heat of the moment". :shrug:

you can get away with a lot of crap if you get beau coup face time on various racing shows all week long. makes people afraid to call you out for being a dipstick.






You gotta admit, Kyle Busch calling Carl Edwards "MR. ED" in the interview was classic.

i was somewhat confused as to why he was comparing Carl to a horse at first.

then i figured it out.

Kyle has heard his mom compare Edwards to a horse on several occassions ( i'm guessing usually late at night ) and he just up and assumed it was an insult.

Neither one can keep from shaking their butt when the Backstreet Boys are on the radio. Even though they are both second generation racers, it appears to me they got all their driving skills by playing "Super Mario Kart".

Put the glasses back on Todd. Gordon did nothing wrong. It was Hamlin who had some apologizing to do. He is the one that came up on gordon and almost took his left front tire out. Then I cant believe its not subway knocks the hell out of him, then continues on to run into gordo's door.
