  • OSW Well this speaks volumes.

I am just as guilty as the rest when it comes to criticizing tracks for lack of car counts and fans, but when you get right down to it racers/fans just need to get out there and race and everything else will fall into place. We ALL need to put up or shut up or watch our sport disappear like the drive-in movie...

I bet the payout isn't that good and they will only get 1 night on a set of tires...

If they had about 20 of them I would pay good money to watch figure-8 drifting races.

I am generally intrigued by any form of motorsport from both a driver and mechanical point of view. This "sport" is definitely for the deepest of pockets in that it is about the complete abuse of motor and tires the only skill I see needed is who has the best ability to abuse the aforementioned. Yes it is entertainment of a motorsports nature but in my eyes has no kinship with real racing.

            Perfectly nailed it, sir.

Still, they are filling the parking lot and making money. Gotta respect that.

If it allows OSW to live another day for the roundy rounders then I am all for it. OSW has long been an excellent venue for racing. Great seats, mostly paved pits and not a bad seat in the house. I didn't get there often but enjoyed every Joslin Memorial I made it to. Little out of the way from Tallahassee.

I agree Kendo. They paved the pits behind the paved pits that used to be grass. Photo courtesy of Philthy

Hard to believe that this race track that I grew up at
Would go to this! The nicest track in the state
Is only good for drifting and crash a ramas!
Spent many of Friday nights there waiting in line to get
In the pits at 5 or 5:30 in the afternoon, but I'm thinking those
Days are history. I do have fun racing these little 1/4 mile tracks
Just hope they can stay afloat.

And you guys wonder why they don't do our stuff. This weekend for them will net them more than any oval track does all year very likely.

Flame me and tell me I'm an idiot all you want but this is proof fans want to be entertained. Are you guys paying attention now?

One things for sure....that's money. Think about this... I'm sure it wasn't cheap to convince Robert to cancel Crash-A-Rama. This is a great deal for Robert also. Probably the first time he's made money every Month this long in a row for a long time.

At $35 a pop, some quick math tells me that is at least $100,000+ just through the front gate,,,before concessions.

Phil is dead on. The fan wants to be entertained. NASCAR is living proof of what poor racing will do to your attendance and TV viewers as well. That being said I do not think the drifting fans give a rats ass about circle track racing. Like a lot of new forms of entertainment they are huge draws early on so I will have to wait and see. Again if this breathes new life into OSW for circle track racing then I am all for it.
