I wish, OSF. "Upon further review" this deal gets even more bizarre. The only Brighthouse race run this year was the Icebreaker at Desoto, won by Scofield. The only other NSS cars in the field were Tyler Scofield, Sergi and Bowman (not all guys you think of as NSS guys) and they all finished waaaaaaaay back. Fontaine finished 2nd and I don't recall him being much of an NSS guy. So if no more Brighthouse are run at Desoto, Scofield now has a HUGE point lead over all the NSS guys that didn't run Desoto. If NSS doesn't replace the Desoto dates there are only 3 more Brighthouse races. That pretty much makes Scofield a lock for the Brighthouse title. Even if they add races he has pretty much a one race lead over everybody (except Fontaine should he choose to out-of-the-blue make NSS his home track). I don't understand this move by NSS at all. This is supposed to help your Brighthouse car count? The NSS Super guys are supposed to be warm and fuzzy about this? On another note, do you really want to make Jeff Scofield a shoe-in to be your "Brighthouse Champion"? If it were me I'd think about the ramifications of this decision. It's not too late to change your mind. I got a call from the new GM at Desoto today. He sounded like a real nice guy. You might want to call him.

You are spot on Old School, it's like a soap opera. Will Fontaine change course and battle Scofield (his Showtime nemesis) for the Brighthouse title at NSS? Will the NSS Super guys care? Will Steve Dorer bring 5 cars from the midwest to Desoto? Will Desoto and NSS ever work together again? What will happen to the Brighthouse Series now that Brighthouse has been bought by Charter? And whatever happened to Jimmy Cope???? Stay tuned......

Either way I'll be at Desoto saturday. Should be an exhibition of hard clean racing in the Supers with no Jokers in the deck. Us Sportsman too (but we don't usually have these types of problems since we all are, you know, Sportsmen...)

well to me this sounds like a promoters dream- and I bet $100 Fontaine shows at NSS

I saw Cope in the pits at Bronson after the Tommy Dunford race- think he was talking with Robbie Cooper

hey Scott wait until they un-ban Jeff and Chris, if I was the promoter I would hand out a pair of boxing gloves to the drivers with their wristband- LoL!

Come on up to Bronson and race this weekend, the return of a local champion to his home track===> Kevin Durden
hey ask Don Nerone....this guy won it ALL in Florida against the big bucks, he can wheel a car....

From what I understand.... Jimmy Cope bailed the same day Critter did (as well as Critter's wife who ran the concessions).... three main souls in one day....They kept Cope's departure quiet.... not sure why but his name was a big attraction for sure.....OSF
Thank a Police Officer for what they do........... OSF:

          Huh, part XVIII

I thought Desoto was Cope's deal.

That seems to be a good little track. Hope all this doesn't affect it's growth.

And it still seems bizzare that some compromise could not be worked out between the tracks.

Still, reinforces my point about track owners/promoters being "independent".

Something maybe to remember for the racers--as Scott says, pick a car/series that you like and can afford, special series and liaisons are fragile agreements...

" [All us Sportsman Racers] are, you know, Sportsmen..."--SG

Do you have those round leather patches on the elbows of your suit?

              (yep, a drunk old guy...)

              Age= It's inevitable I suppose.

Actually, am glad to have lived during the time that I have.

Grew up during the 60's, muscle cars, street racing (with V8s), close stock car racing with lots of cars, mini skirts...

Scott, you saw the same exact thing that 99% of the crowd saw, Although the incidental contact started with the 07 brake checking the 30, Dutilly is a clean driver, who left the track that night with a destroyed car, for no reason at all. Vince P.

Well, if Cope is no longer at Desoto, that might explain why NSS isnt too concerned with them. He at least had their respect in the Fl Racing community and from a distance at least, seemed to be doing a decent job. What happened that him and critter left?

I understand that people respect Jimmy and Critter (myself included) but is it wise to write off Desoto just because they are gone? The new GM doesn't even deserve a chance? I don't know what precipitated the change but I do know Desoto is still a great place to race. I was there on 3/21 with my Sportsman and was very pleased how things were handled on a very difficult night. A fiery crash created a necessary delay and it was all handled very well. Chatted with Boneman in the payout line and it seemed the Sprint guys were happy too (even though Rex had some tough luck). Payouts are still great (best in the state for Sportsman). In my personal opinion, they haven't missed a step since those guys left. Gonna be a great show tomorrow. Come on out!
