2 exits down from the World Center Of Racing and close to I-95 with population quickly expanding inland, location is the least of their problems.Originally posted by Phil Jacques View PostWe have already gone over the more cars per class deal. NSS struggles cause they are pretty much out there alone on the east coast with OSW not operating regularly..

another one in the "It'll NEVER Happen Dept"
You know they could pave a modestly banked turn right in the middle of the infield just north of the go cart track, providing a smaller track for weekly shows that would tighten up the competition.
NASCAR could do a similar deal at Daytona and avoid the plates.
And after all that I could open up a sno-cone stand in hell...

Apples to hammers dude... The big track means nothing to any of these little tracks in any way at all period end of story. People travel to DIS from ALASKA... Not so much with NSS... If you aren't getting the word out to those people, they aren't going to come.Originally posted by kendo View Post2 exits down from the World Center Of Racing and close to I-95 with population quickly expanding inland, location is the least of their problems.

Sorry dude you are wrong again,,,Having the big track so close is a gift if one knew how to capitalize on it.Originally posted by Phil Jacques View PostApples to hammers dude... For the win, name the driver who won the 1903 World Series Of Stock Car Racing.Originally posted by OldSchool+ View PostThe locals know.
The out-of-towners have been hearing about the "World Series of Stock Car Racing" since 1903.
The word is out.
The racing is in the Tampa Bay area, and the race fans are in the Tampa Bay area.

WRONG! 90% of big time NA$CAR fans are so brainwashed that they think what you see on TV is the be all end all... Remember in the 80s and 90s you would walk around tracks and see Richard Petty jackets and Dale Earnhardt shirts and Rusty Wallace Hats? Don't see that anywhere near as much anymore now do you... There is such an incredible disconnect these days that it's unreal. Corporate NA$CAR isn't doing anything to help us and they don't really care. They are lining their pockets with the money from their mindless minions and they are laughing all the way to the bank, meanwhile WE the lifeblood and base of their sport is dying a slow death.Originally posted by kendo View PostSorry dude you are wrong again,,,Having the big track so close is a gift if one knew how to capitalize on it.
IT DOES NOTHING for us to have that big track there. Doesn't hurt, doesn't help. NOTHING The theory has been tried and tested time and time again all over this country.

Why Ab Jenkins, of course, in the "Mormon Meteor".
In fact, he ran the whole week without stopping. Every so often, others would join him and they would throw flags and stuff, but Ab never, ever, stopped.

Actually, it's many, many, many exits down from the World Center of Racing, because that's Indianapolis. But you're right about location not being an issue.Originally posted by kendo View Post2 exits down from the World Center Of Racing and close to I-95 with population quickly expanding inland, location is the least of their problems.

Question for Pheel
Phil,
Here is a thought:
Ever considered that NSS may be happy with the status quo?
>They chose to close OSW
>They chose to drop the emods
If, as Scotty & others have alluded (& it makes sense) that the big events pay zee bills, then maybe they are happy with a few high dollar cars every week.
Advantages:
>They know the guys that show up, and like them.
>They have the fast cars and the fast tracks. Like NASCAR likes their 1.5 milers. Never mind the show, they feel "big time".
>Not many accidents to clean up, and they can take their time when there is one.
>Not a deep field payout for obvious reasons.
After all, they could come up with some version of the "Affordable Late Model" just as they switched to the grooved modified tire.
Those folks know how to run New Smyrna. Am suggesting they like just the way it is running.
Food fer thought...

Man, you younger guys. They were of course built of boards, and they charged by the board. Obviously, a wooden nickel each. Or you could trade them a chicken for all of the boards in your "slab", your choice.

There isn't a track in FL that has a location issue. My original statement was in regard to NSS being trapped on the east coast compared to the rest, a fairly distant drive from even it's closest track. A large number of drivers and teams I have found seem to be located on the West Coast between Sarasota and Clearwater and south of Kissimmee. They aren't going to make a weekly trek to NSS nor will their fans. It's easier for them to go elsewhere than make the cross state trek to NSS in a lot of cases. The fact that DAYTONA is there means nothing honestly. Most people travel from all across the country and world as I previously stated to come to DAYTONA. Just because the place has 100k fans in the stands doesn't mean they all came from downtown Daytona...Originally posted by Matt Albee View PostActually, it's many, many, many exits down from the World Center of Racing, because that's Indianapolis.
