“There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely games.” --Ernest Hemmingway

Hey, one out of three ain't so bad...

But there is an indirect point in Shortrack's comments. It typically, but not necessarily, follows that if one is prone to breaking the law (or has exhibited anger related issues), they by default are guilty this time.

In fact, am not sure that sort of thing is not inadmissable in a "regular" court of law (key words in that sentence: "am not sure").

At any rate, each supposed "offense", IMO, should be weighed on the facts of that particular deal.

Otherwise it is easy to point out "Let he who has not [made a mistake] cast the first stone".

LOL ! The depth of this comparison is hilarious.

It's a good thing Hemingway had spell check when he was doing all that philosopher work.

Hemingway's book, " the old man and the track" was a best seller.

Like him or not, Kurt is done in NASCAR.

Indefinately means it's an undetermined amount of time.

I suspect Kurt will do the wife beater rehab camp, speak out against domestic violence, and he will be right back in a seat.

He's in the drivers seat for his future, where he steers it is up to him.

Reportedly, Kurt's attorney is going to attempt to get a court order to get him back on the track.

Stay tuned for next week's edition of "As the Wheel Turns".

If this was "pre-Ray Rice" then Kurt gets a fine and maybe probation. You see what he got "post-Ray Rice" video. Not saying it's right or wrong...it just is.

                        Kurt Busch reinstatement petition

Well if you feel someone is innocent until proven guilty in a criminal court of law, then yeah he should not be suspended yet.
If you think he should be reinstated until he is found guilty then here is a petition you can sign- around 8000 signatures so far.

"Kurt Busch has agreed to the terms and conditions dictated by NASCAR that he must complete to get reinstated from his suspension." --NASCAR

No details, no timeline were provided.

Of course, guilty or innocent, Kurt does not want to take the Jeremy Mayfield route, so...he agrees to their terms.

Again, the worst part of this deal is the societal reinforcement (yet again) that the rules are..."You better not make me mad (or else)".

Clearly, there should never be abuse, in either direction in a relationship, but when zero can be objectively proven...

You didn't add it, so i'm still going to use a write in,

                            It's none of our's or NASCAR's business

Matt, technically, no doubt, you are correct. But...

Let's assume it was Jeff, or Jr. and they have absolutely zero to do with the allegations. It's all fabrication.

Nonetheless, NASCAR needs to protect itself, and is doing so. That is NASCAR's business.

"Jeff" wants to get back into the car and make the big bux so he is playing the game.

But it is all in the news, and just like the dog that saved the kid from the sewer drain (or whatever), it then becomes part of our "business".

We did not will it so. The deal is certainly not "our" fault.

For my $0.02, my part is not about that soap opera, but commentary in general.

Rather than a Jeff or Jr. example, let's look at a real incident. Rick Hendrick ( Hindrick as Larry Mac would say ) was caught bribing car manufacturers, along with some other illegal activities, about 20 years ago or so. He was convicted. In other words, he is a convicted felon. I haven't kept up with the story, so he may have used his money to get the conviction overturned, or buried forever.
Now that actually happened. Did that harm NASCAR in any way? No, it didn't. NASCAR doesn't seem to mind having a felon on board.
THE ONLY REASON that NASCAR is involving itself in this incident is that the NFL decided it had to in the Ray Rice incident. The knee jerk reaction NASCAR is famous for. This incident, if it actually happened, was between Kurt and his girlfriend. Didn't happen at a NASCAR event, wasn't on NASCAR property, was in private. And he hasn't been convicted in a court of law. And it's really none of my business what goes on in his personal life, just like it's none of Kurt's business what goes on in my private life. It's an unfortunate situation, but NASCAR has no interest in the matter.
NASCAR doesn't have much to protect itself against, there isn't very much on the list of criminal offenses that hasn't been common in NASCAR over the years. From moonshining to drug smuggling, to fraud, to weapons charges and beyond. It's all been in NASCAR. Even drunk driving through the streets of Daytona, right Brian.
By the way, after a session of prescribed classes, NASCAR will let KURT back in.
