  • Kurt Busch Suspension Opinion Poll

    To Recap:

Kurt Busch & ex-girlfriend Patricia Driscoll had a disagreement in his hauler at Dover in August.

She said he "smashed her head three times against the wall of his motorhome."

He denied doing so and said she is a habitual liar, pointing out many supposed exaggerations in various stories told by Ms. Driscoll.

There was no police report, no doctors report, and witnesses that saw Ms. Driscoll soon after reported no visible bruising or etc. Of course, an injury to the back of the head would not be immediately visible.

Subsequently, the "Family Court Commissioner" determined that "it is more likely than not'' that Busch committed an act of domestic abuse, and issued a restraining order against Kurt, and NASCAR suspended him "indefinitely".

Although the whole deal is a "he said-she said" thing, state your opinion in the poll and/or add comments if you would like.

Nascar has no wiggle room since the court ruled it was abuse. The sports world has been served notice that they must address this issue with sanctions if they are to maintain any credibility. Remember some polls show women making up almost half of the Nascar fan base. I am NOT a fan of any Busch unless it is in a can. That being said I will not pass judgement until his appeal is heard. I find it difficult to believe that some of his assertions are not based in some degree of fact as I do not believe he is subject to delusions. He too good of a driver to be delusional. Sadly for him and others accused, their price to pay is immediate and they have little recourse if exonerated later.

EG--all just for the sake of discussion...

Kurt could be 100% correct in his allegations regarding Driscoll--but that does not preclude that he may also have been a physical problem himself.

Am curious--how do you see the appeal being tied to your opinion? Do you think additional "facts" will come out, or...?

Point being, I guess, is that neither public opinion nor court opinion is the "objective truth"--just their opinion--an opinion that carries legal weight, but is still not necessarily the truth.

To begin with, am in agreement with you--I am not a Kurt Busch fan either.

        That said...

Regarding NASCAR "needing" to make this decision due to the fan makeup, it is a sad deal indeed, IMO.

To begin with, the "objective truth", IMO, is in "The Good Book", and that states that Men should protect and watch over their spouses--or be answerable for it.

Equally--and I mean equally--important is that they in turn are to be supportive and helpful.

That is a 100% symbiotic deal and requires both party's efforts in order to work.

In today's society, it has been completely turned around and all one need's to do is be "upset" with an allegation and the case is closed.

The huge irony is that neither the current societal views, nor the court rulings, nor the current NASCAR judgment are supportive of the Original Directive, and ultimately Kurt Busch is not the biggest loser.

The Jameis Winston case is an excellent example of the court of public opinions clout. To this day The New York Times and USA Today still consider him guilty. Every manner of law enforcement prosecutor and a Supreme Court Justice have all said there is no basis in fact. Why, her story changed so many times nothing could be relied on. One factor has remained constant throughout this deal and that is the intent to seek civil redress(MONEY). It would not surprise me at all to see money come into play in Buschs deal

He's a hot head and it caught up with him.

If he was a rap star, the racing community would have a different opinion.

            I'm not a bush fan.

His last hope was his appeal to NASCAR. Since his suspension was upheld his career in NASCAR I believe is over. Because he has a history of anger issues before, I don't think another team will take a chance on him. Not a fan of Busch anyway. Maybe he can get a ride in Indy cars somewhere and try to start over again. I just feel sorry for his new girlfriend. Maybe she should sleep with one eye open at night.

                          Don,

Perhaps, but one would think they would have passed the info on to the authorities.

                          Timeline:

2/20 Kurt Busch races in the qualifying races.
2/21 Afternoon--Delaware "Family" Court finds against Kurt Busch
2/21 Evening--NASCAR suspends Kurt indefinitely and released the following statement:

"Given the serious nature of the findings and conclusions made by the Commissioner of the Family Court of the State of Delaware, NASCAR has indefinitely suspended driver Kurt Busch, effective immediately,"

well you talk about her story changing to many times. well when he decided to rob the local Publix of seafood, crawfish and lobster that proved he is a liar as well. I guess he figure he got away with the first crime he could do that and get away with it. why because of football. there's only three sports that's Racing, hunting and fishing the rest are just games.
