Osw does not have the money to do what you expect, but you all want a track to race at. If you are racing to get rich or earn a few bucks, sell your car and get a real job. This sport ain't gonna make you rich. Oh..... And I am about done with all you Whiny bitches. I sit here, watch what you all have to say... Been totally on your side 100%. I will take my hard earned money.. And spend it elsewhere. When the track is torn down .. And you are all crying, I will buy you some Kleenex.. And maybe a trophy.

"...if the track don't start acting like they care..." ST1
Kinda hung up on that, aincha?
It is what it is. It is hard to imagine anyone pulling into the OSW parking lot that does not know what they are in for.
In a perfect world (pun intended) I agree with ya. In this world, why waste the time hoping for that...?

Supporting OSW no matter how bad it gets, is maybe not the answer. It would be different if the owner were an Earl Baltes type guy who was on the track equipment every day making his track better every way he could afford. You respect guys like that and don't mind supporting them. And you can see steady improvement in the place each week.
That isn't the case with OSW. It's leased by someone with plenty of money and connections. That somebody has never lifted a finger to improve the track. In fact, as was mentioned above, even the track lights still don't work. I doubt you'll see Ozzy out there in the sun, painting and fixing things. Sadly, he also hasn't bothered hiring people to be out in the sun, painting and fixing things. He hires track managers ( many track managers ) and then gives them nothing at all to work with.
Losing another race track to make a parking lot or wal mart would be sad for sure. But nobody should be ashamed for not supporting OSW. Ozzy has had the place for a couple of years now, and has given fans and racers no reason to go there.

The funniest thing in the world to me is that everyone points fingers directly at Ozzy and Donnie over and over. If you can do better, pony up... That place has been in turmoil for 15 years or more this is merely a continuation of the past. It's still better than nothing when they do put on a show. You guys all sit and armchair manage that track till the cows come home but for what? It hasn't made a difference, and will continue to not make a difference. At least the track is still there... Where is Lakeland? Where is the paved track at Volusia? What about Hialeah? There is still future hope here. Even if you don't like where it is now, hold on to that hope until the last fence post is pulled out of the ground.

I don't think the track is going anywhere. But the drift guys bring money and the circle track guys don't. So we lose and the drifters win.
Unless the pits are packed and there's at least 100 in the stands on the 29th, I doubt there will be another circle track show at osw this year unless someone pays for it.
As far as not "lifting a finger to improve the facility"
They paved the infield. Case closed.
I reckon that the drift shows there this year are daytime shows which explains the light problem.
Not only that but the track is STILL RACEABLE without the light... Really doesn't cause huge problems visibility wise just a little darker. I think NSS lighting has spoiled some of you.
See you on the 29thROOOOOTAMANN!

No, i don't think Ozzy is going to change his mind about the oval track. But knowing that, it's hard to make a case for supporting the place. Supporting the racers, sure. But not the track.
It's always a great idea to support the small independent shop near your home. But as the place begins to fall down from neglect, and the inventory drops off to nothing, and the owner openly demonstrates that he doesn't care if the place stays open or not.... you're wasting your money and goodwill. It's time to find a new place to shop.

I do love the fact that people bitch about the lighting... Even missing that 1 light, the place is like daylight compared to Riverhead NY and Seekonk MA... It's absolutely indescribable how dark those places are...
Some things are in the works for more upgrades soon thanks to Formula D coming in. Bitch about the dirfters all you want but they bring in some bux.

A couple of thoughts...
Jacko--the infield is reportedly paved. Maybe the SCCA would like to rent the place and throw some pylons out there. Autocross-with-some-banked-turns might be interesting...
I would pay to see the drifters actually race on the oval. Mandate about 2" of stagger and a hard compound and let me cheer on my favorite sideways ricer!
I heard Donnie was a drifter (in this case, a low-plains drifter...), maybe run it by him.
