  • Although this is Dick Trickle in this shot, this was really Mike Alexanders ride. Mike was a Nashville area racer who dominated the local tracks, moved to the All-American Series and won there. He climbed into the Busch series and pulled off a few wins and was assigned to the Miller Beer ride teaming with Bobby Allison.

Mike had a bad wreck at the Snowball Derby in 1988, and his head injuries were worse than first thought. During 1989 Daytona testing in the Cup car, he found that his brain would shut off and quickly back on, like a circuit breaker. He said it would take a second or 2 to realize he was driving a racecar, at 200 MPH, and had to re-gather his composure. Knowing he was a risk to himself and everyone else out there, he retired from the ride and began rehab.

Dick Trickle took over the ride, and went on to become the oldest Rookie of the Year in Nascar history in 1989.... but it really WAS Mike Alexanders ride!

Perhaps my Natalie Sather posting has caused everyone to be so completely captivated by her that no one can concentrate long enough to play this game any more.

              • Bill Elliott at California in I think '04. (at least that's what it says on Jayski)

the only thing I don't know about is that doesn't look like Bill's trademark signature over the window.

                  • From my original "hometown" of Willaimsville, NY, Bill Brainard.

Bill was a high-school mate of my Fathers, and was gracious enough to make it to last years Reunion. They hadn't seen each other in almost 50 years. I had never met him before, but has been a great guy and very encouraging with the get-together efforts.

                        • How about "Night Stalker", Billy Bishop. His Grandson (or is it son?) Scott, has torn up the local Truck series' around Florida, although he hauls in from SC for each race.

                          • How about this one. The D1RT car... obviously on asphalt. This car looks about identical to the car that Jim Dunn ran on dirt, and won the first Dirt Track World Championship. Tragically, he was burned to death in a racing fire less than a year after his biggest win.

                            • A couple of Ed Howe's creations. He also had a team car, #GOing" that Tom Maier drove. Sometimes they would remove the fenders and race against the Modifieds. The "H" car was somewhat of a test car for Hoosier Tire Co. (notice the actual shape of the "H").
