  • The "Mayor of Vernon Center", Sonny Seamon.

No, he was not the Mayor, but he was one hell of a chassis man, and a great driver to boot. Not many driver were ever trusted in Maynard Troyers back-up cars, but Sonny was. That alone speaks volumes for his talents.

        • The Kosiski family in Nebraska is like the Kinsers in Indiana... it's hard to find a track that one of the family members isn't running at.

This shot is Joe Kosiski, who races with brothers Steve & Ed, as well as father Bob.

          • The team pictured here started out as W.I.N. Inc., one of the partners being Harry Ranier. Ranier was the team owner with drivers such as Bobby Allison, Benny Parsons and Buddy Baker, and eventually who Davey Allison his first big shot in Nascar in the #28 cars, picking up Havoline just after the Daytona 500 that year. This same team evolved into Robert Yates Racing, which is now controlled by Doug Yates and is still out there with Travis Tvapil and David Gilliland driving.

The driver in this shot is Lennie Pond, who was the 1973 Rookie of the Year, beating out another guy that is just a bit more famous now... Darrell Waltrip!

              • I always thought this was one beautiful Dirt Mod. Driver Gary Iulg was a great wheelman himself on both dirt and asphalt, in Mods, Supers and USAC Sprints.

                  • Alabama's Darrell Brown, in a nice looking car. Many of his cars weren't nearly as attractive as this one! He was a former regular on the All-Pro and All American Challenge Series circuits, and was a consistent top-5 car. I seem to remember him winning a big race at New Smyrna one time.
