The problem with inverting heat winners is you will get guys sandbagging. Might want to roll the dice and determine how many of the heat winners are inverted. No one knows how many are inverted going into the race.

Mini Stocks". Nope. This class has/had become nothing but 4-cylinder Late Models. Tube frames, coilovers, 350 horsepower out of a 4-cylinder (I'm just guessing here...)...Build a Sportsman (put a V-8 or a V-6 in your chassis...) or drop back down to Strictly.

Many mini stocks still run stock frame rails, floor and firewall. Even the tube frame cars have to run stock crossmembers, control arms, and the suspension design must remain stock. and the Best ministock motors will only make around 180 hp.

There's some great ideas and grand plans there guys. Unfortunately, I don't think any of that has a snowball's chance in hell of happening. I think I figured out Ozzy's game plan with the Speedworld. "Calculated Loss". The dragstrip is doing awesome, probably even better than Ozzy had imagined it would at this stage of the game. Anyone in business will tell you when business is real, real good you need write-offs somewhere or the I.R.S. will take a big bite out of your profits. That's where the oval figures in. Each of the G.M.'s hired have quit out of frustration. I'm sure that frustration is derived from having your hands tied and having very little budget to work with. The formula is perfect. Keep the oval on life-support enough to keep the gates open and have events that lose money. Not enough of a loss to hurt you financially, but enough to look good on the books to the C.P.A. come tax time. When the current G.M. quits out of frustration, hire another. The prerequisite? To care so much about "saving" the Speedworld that you will take peanuts for a salary because you are the last "hope". You hype, you try and try and give your blood, sweat and tears and plead for competitiors to come and race because "together we will make it happen through will and determination". After a while you realize that with no budget and being dictated what to do that it is futile and you quit. It's like a dirtbag who hates his elderly father but will keep him on life-support and not "pull the plug" because as long as he is "alive" you can cash his Social Security checks when they come every month. Same premise. As long as the oval survives, however how barely, you can use it as a write-off for the I.R.S.. That, my friends, is what I am afraid the future of the Speedworld oval holds. Unless someone will "sublet" the oval for a better bottom-line than what Ozzy can write-off, then we are stuck with the status-quo. I think we are all being played.

The oval track event has been removed from the website and replaced with the cashorama schedule...

Would Be Nice If Speedworld Works Out

First fasson do you want to lease speedworld ? Lets face it VERY BAD YEAR for speedworld but Ozzy is looking to keep it open at least and maybe lease it out for next year. He is a drag guy first he has spent and done a lot of work at the drag strip and looks like that is working just like his track in Lakeland heard he made that place real nice. OK let's back up the opening night of speedworld this year he had less than a 75 people in the stands now some of you guys and girls might say not my problem. Well it is because with out the fans you can not make it, the back gate money will not keep a track open stock car racers pay a pit pass $25.00 for racing at the track very cheap if no fans show up. At the end of the day the place is a business and a racers hobby and needs to make money to stay open. NEXT POST
