Scotty is correct, the last 3 managers quit in frustration. EZTOPASSGAS is correct when he writes that Ozzy inherited the oval track, and had no experience or interest.
I have met with Ozzy Moya a few times. This guy knows his business, and has proven that he can make money in racing. If he directs his time and treasure to the oval track, it will prosper. If his plan won't change from this terrible year, then the place stays closed.
A leased operator is always a possibility, but who would be crazy enough to take that project on?
I'm an optimist: I think Mr. Moya will change his approach regarding an operating budget, concessions and support staff, and we'll be back to racing in 2014.
Provided it doesn't all become a great big pain first.
The drag strip had always done well Before ozzy took it over. remember when ozzy got it the guy retired he didn't give it up because it was failing.
With all due respect , you absolutely don't know anything about the history of the drag strip with those comments. Go to any drag racing forum and read the praise for Ozzy and all the positive changes he has made to the track.
You guys are lashing out of emotion. I've heard some of the same comments from kindergarten children on the playground. No offense, but reach down and see if they are still there, no not you kat. LOL !

You are correct. Carl did retire, but the rest of your post was way off.
The track was on a steady decline and people were complaining about the surface, car counts, and the poor condition of the facilities. He was behind on the rent too. Ozzy has turned that place around.
Carl did retire. And he was not behind on the rent. I heard the same thing and Carl told me personally that it was not true. I have known Carl for almost 40+ years. He would have liked to buy the drag strip alone, but Robert would not separate.
Know what I hope happens? I really hope they pull the plug on the rest of the year. I talked to the guy today who is willing to take it on and finish the season, but IMHO the 2013 season has been so horrible that there is no reason to keep it on life support. There has been plenty of people who have poured heart and soul into the place, and I've got an excellent reason to race on 12-7. The fact is, if it can't be good then why bother?
Whoever is in charge, I hope they regroup over the winter, and reopen with a bang in 2014. Not a regular little show either, have a GRAND reopening.

At this point, there is not much we can do except wager on the outcome. Lets make a pool with 3 groups: one that says OSW roars back to life in 2014, another that says it gets leased, and the third group that thinks it will go the way of St. Augustine, Ft. Pierce, Hialeah and Palm Beach.
Lets have Katlizy hold the money. I'm in for $10 in the group that says it roars back to life.
