  • OSW Strictly Stocks do NOT require a ROLL CAGE

I have been calling around to drivers from last year and asking where they are..

There seems to be some confusion as to the requirement of a ROLL CAGE in your Strictly Stock.

I do not see that in the rules as put forth by OSW.

    Call em and ask.

yes it is in the rules under Roll cage it says four (4) point cage is mandatory for driver safety . I just read it and it would be crazy to go out there with out one.

He is saying that its your butt strapped in the car, and that each driver has to take responsibility that they are in a safe enough vehicle.

That's what modracer basically said, then zerofor comes in and gets sarcastic about it.

I don't understand why zero said "it's your ass" when modracer said you shouldn't run without a cage..

It seems like zero misunderstood modracer..

funny how a safety rule, especially something as cheap and easy as installing a rollcage will turn away so many cars. (Ive seen people selling used roll cages as cheap as 2 for 50$)
lets all take a long ride on a short bus.

I quit fishing because no one was standing at the docks handing out money when i got back, why did you quit racing?

A tad-bit few years ago, also required was brake lights, or the car couldn't run.

I don't think that rule is in place anymore, is it?

Roll cage needed or not, just point out some facts:

Formula cars, from the low level Formula Ford to million of $ F1 DO NOT have roll cages.

All motorcycles, in any forms or shapes, from Daytona High Banks to free style back flips , going by Stadium Motocross DO NOT have roll cages.

Snowmobile racing, way over 100+MPH DO NOT have roll cages, and the new free style, back flip competition neither.

Those Prototype ''Le Mans'' type car, DO NOT have roll cages.

And we ride everyday through traffic way more dense then on a race track, coming from the back, front and side, often at speed faster than on some of the race track and we DO NOT have roll cages in our every day cars.

Enduros all across the North America, for the most, DO NOT require roll cages.

This is not an incitative or a ''go kill yourself'' advertisement, just the facts.

I really like the idea of a "painted junk" class, where someone can get a running car together in a day or two and try out our sport. Its critical to have a feeder class like this.
In the case of Orlando Speedworld, there are 4,000 pound, full size cars in that class. If a 4 cylinder with no cage is sitting stalled at the end of a straight, and a big tank is coming at them at 70 mph, well you can see where I am going with this.
If everyone is running the same size cars on little tracks, or on a slower dirt track, no cage should be required. At Speedworld, I'd make sure everyone has some door bars.
It doesn't matter what I think, go by what the track wants.

                        No cages?

IMHO, I would think that a cage would be a requirement by thr track's insurance carrier?, additionally in today's litigous society, there are many ways around written disclaimers normally signed at the pit entrance, why even think of taking any extra chances?

actually they do. they have 2 roll structures, one up front (where the dash would be) and another behind the drivers head.
