Great minds think alike..... It's pretty ironic that both of you guys attached the same picture too. It was "Tiger" Tom Pistone. The answer that I was looking for for the other question was Bristol Motor Speedway. But Ancrdave I don't doubt your answer of Daytona one bit.
Only two minutes apart....... pretty cool.

Famous Firsts
Here's three more to keep your brains busy over the weekend....
1 - Who was the first driver to win a NASCAR Cup race on Hoosier tires?
2 - Who was the first driver to finish a 500-mile race in less than three hours? Let's make this a little harder..... What track was it at? What was the official time (hours/minutes/seconds) of the race? and.... what was the average speed of the race?
3 - Who was the first driver to win the Most Popular Driver Award and the NASCAR Cup championship in the same year? What year did it happen?

Tiger Tom
Was this the same Tiger Tom Pistone that was featured on a episode of "Americam Pickers"?Originally posted by ancrdave View Post1) Tom Pistone... se photo
2) Daytona International Speedway hosted Bethune-Cookman College and high school football games in the grass of the tri-oval during the early-1960s... Not sure if that's what you are looking for, but it's a fact!
Also, didnt Daytona also have a football field that hosted high school football games, back when the race track opened?

Yep.Originally posted by steadysteve View PostWas this the same Tiger Tom Pistone that was featured on a episode of "American Pickers"?
That episode, though...was kinda....misleading. From what I understand (from guys that I "know" through model-car building message boards that were *there* back in the day), a LOT of that stuff was "planted"...and/or fake. Like that so-called "Petty door". It doesn't even look like a Plymouth door, and the font of the number never matched anything that the Pettys ran.
