Does anyone really think Childress hired Paul Menard because of driving talent? Of course not. But he did bring one of the richest guys in the country in to pay the bills.

Danica brought $$$. If Go Daddy dumped her tomorrow, she would be srambling for a ride for next year.

If go daddy dumped her she would have other sponsors knocking at her door. She is a marketing mega superstar. As long as she can wheel a Racecar, she will be racing. She's here for the long haul.

Actually Childress did hire Menard for his driving skill. Menard also brought along his father's sponsor dollars of course, but Paul has a pretty impressive road racing background and didn't do too badly in the lower NASCAR series races he was in.
If Go Daddy dropped Danica tomorrow, any one of 20 corporations would be on the phone to her instantly. Can you name any corporation involved in NASCAR that would be stupid enough to miss out on the marketing opportunity afforded by attaching their name to Danica's car?
Steve Kinser, about as good a racer as has ever been, had nowhere near the success in NASCAR that she's already had. Same goes for Sammy Swindell. Both came from an open wheel background, both failed at racing in NASCAR. Give the lady a break, she's a good racer and she's good for the sport.

No one has mentioned the obvious about our little race pool. Why on earth didn't someone pick the Jimmy Johnson, who happened to set fast time and has multiple wins? Any better with a brain would have picked 48, but this is a friendly game and everyone goes for their sentimental favorite. That is why I'm betting on the 10 again this week!

Yep, that's exactly what i'd call it. SUCCESS. Some very good finishes in Nationwide, and in Cup she's got a pole position and an 8th in the Daytona 500, and a 12th in her first trip to Martinsville.

                That's just too funny....

You seem to think that Tony Stewart and Jr. are all about finding the best driver to put in their cars....and lo and behold!....It's Danica!....(along with millions of GoDaddy's dollars to pay for the carnage she leaves in her wake)

I'm sorry but I don't share the same pie in the sky attitude that would make me a believer that NASCAR is an actual competitive sport anymore.

Childress hired Menard for his talent? Give me a break! Why didn't he snap him up years ago? He's been in Nationwide and Cup since 2003....9 years to showcase all the talent and wheelmanship he brought to the series with him...I'm sure it was stuffed somewhere in that suitcase full of million dollar checks his daddy gave him. Well played, RCR....well played. You got that money, er, that TALENT in one of your cars before anybody else could scooped him up.

And someone please....PLEASE tell me why they think going 185mph with 40 other cars going the exact same speed around a track that is 120 ft wide and 2 1/2 miles long is any different than driving in a pack of vehicles at 80mph on any given interstate in the country? Superspeedway racing is the biggest joke in the world. It was stupid in the 1960's and downright idiotic here in the 21rst century. Superspeedways are the reason no one in NASCAR needs to be drivers anymore. Any joe schmoe can hold his foot to the floor and ride around in a pack of cars going exactly the same speed. OH NO, DW! There's a big crash! Just how much skill does it take to close your eyes and ride out a crash at 185 mph? Because that's about all your gonna do when one of them starts. Which, of course, NASCAR just loves because as we all know, what do the fans like to see? CARNAGE! And more CARNAGE!!!
More crashes = more excitement for the fans!
"We can't really tell you guys to fight with each other but.....if you could act like it on pit road and then let your pit crews pull you apart, before any actual punches get thrown, WITH the cameras rolling of course, we'll make sure each of you gets to win a couple of races this year."
"Oh...and no telling the media any of our little secrets....just like Fight Club."

Lastly....can't blame Danica for her perceived image?.....

How is she responsible for getting too much attention? She shows up at the track and drives the race car. If you want to hate someone for the publicity she gets, blame the writers and the tv networks that follow her around every moment of every day.

Maybe it's all the photo sessions in sexy bikinis and stupid commercials that only serve to undermine any reasoning that she may really be a driver and not just a novelty. And the media? Please....the media just feeds the stupid, hungry mongrels what they want to eat.....and lots of it, too.

NASCAR is not about true racing anymore. Hasn't been for a long time now. It's all about the green. There isn't anything that isn't fixed or controlled by spending enough $$$. Danica is just this years Flavor of the Week.
                Every week.

Sponsors really don't care if you've never won. They don't care if you don't even have a lengthy resume explaining how you've worked so very hard to arrive at this point in your racing career. All you need is the right amount on the check, a GQ look and a few weeks of classes on how to give an interview for TV and radio without letting on that your a no-talent, hack who had never sat in a race car until last year when your daddy went out and bought the track champion's car, paid him another 50K to work on it for a few months and then decided to set out for a career in the big leagues where it doesn't matter if you win or lose.

And you can't be over 23.
                Preferably 18, if possible.
Would you consider lying on the application?

Hired him because he could drive....

Tony Stewart already has a back up plan

Should Go Daddy ever wan't to bail as Danicant's primary sponsor. He will try to keep them on as an associate sponsor while bringing on Hoosier tire as the primary sponsor. The new collaboration will be known as the HOOSIERDADDY special.

About finding the best driver to put in their cars? No, the best drivers are already taken. But finding someone competent, marketable, and acceptable to sponsors is always important. And why wouldn't it be. A team owner has to make money to survive. That means bringing in sponsor dollars, it also means bringing in drivers who can help get and keep sponsors. Neither you or i would be much help in that respect, so if you or I showed up looking for a driving job at SHR with millions of dollars in our hand, the answer would be no.
We'll skip over the Menard resume for now, you apparently didn't research it beyond the NASCAR stats page. Paul Menard brought everything an owner could hope for, a racing resume, not horrible communication and interview skills, and a wheelbarrow full of money. Think the wheelbarrow of money is all it takes to get a ride in Cup? Ask John Wes Townley how a never ending stream of dad's money can further your NASCAR Cup career.
You hate NASCAR. We get it. We all hate NASCAR.
Now as for Danica making money off her looks by posing for photo shoots and appearing in those stupid GO Daddy commercials, why wouldn't she. Even the pretty boys on the Hendrick teams do that. She'd be an idiot not too.

                          While were on this subject....

NASCAR have went to great length's with their diversification program. Not only the inclusion of women like Danica, but you have NASCAR Mexico series to develope latino drivers like Miguel
                          Peludo.

NASCAR is looking to develope drivers in other parts of the world.NASCAR is hoping to develope former MC champ Darrell Wallace, because he is a key to bring African-Americans to the sport.A whole coass of people with income to spend on racing.

Baseball is celebrating Jackie Robuinson week, with the release of the movie 42,and all teams wear the number 42 to honor Robinson's contribution to the sport of BASEBALL on the15th of April.

I don't need to hear guys like the commentators on Speed,or drivers like Jeff Gordon or Jimmie Johnson talking the importance of Jackie Robinson to NASCAR.What? Yet,they still havent included Wendell Scott into the NASCAR Hall of Fame, yet they wanna talk about Robinson's importance.

They just voted in Maurice Petty,Dale Jarrett jr,Bruton Smith and Rex White into the HOF,and all are deserving.

But before aneone else on FOX goes on this weekend about thev importance of Robinson to NASCAR,they had better vote in Wendell Scott. His importance to racing is equal to Jackie Robinson and what he has meant to baseball.

When Jackie Robinson broke the color barrier it opened the flood gates and baseball was changed forever.
Wendell Scott got his foot in the door , squeezed his way in, made his mark, left the sport , and the door slammed shut for another 40 years .
I agree though. Wendell should be in the H.O.F.
P.S. I don't agree with diversity programs . I admire Wendell for doing it without "ANY" help and against all odds.
