Even I was a little surprised today when my Danica pick won me a few bucks in the NASCAR pool. The Danica haters, at least the honest ones, have to realize that she hung in there, drove pretty smart, and got a good rookie finish.

Also, her presence in the series has re-ignited my interest in NASCAR after several seasons of nothing what-so-ever. My kids kind of got me watching it again too!

She was a rolling road block all day. Bounced off Schrader (of course DW blamed him), bounced off several others, got Lucky Dogs & wave-arounds.... and somehow got a top 15 after not a drop of talent all day.

Sorry Rex... She was a hell of a lot more 'lucky' than 'good' today.

If she won, some of you guys would find a conspiracy theory. Of course, at this point, I may believe it too. A lot of males have tried and failed, with her being a girl, she is under a microscope. I think she will do better in time.

I don't care if she got wave-arounds. She followed the rules as written, and she had to out-run other guys who really wanted that spot.

So she ran 500 laps and finished 5 seconds behind the winner, but did it "without a drop of talent"? I don't think so!

I think she did a great job and made a decent finish as most others on a difficult track. She is proving to be a good 'short track' racer. Where were the other big name 'male' drivers in that finish? Oh I know, behind her...
Sorry to you negative commenters who have a problem with a woman doing good in a male dominated sport. I like the attention she brings to what has been a boring sport till now maybe..

I have NO problem with women being in this sport. I believe that it does bring in a whole new audience that Danica brought into it.

What I have a problem with is mainly the perpetual 'free pass' she is given no matter what her involvement was. She got into several cars with over-aggressive (dumb) moves that sent other cars around, yet it is ALWAYS the other drivers fault. DW is the WORST when it comes to this.

She's still learning. She will make mistakes. I just hate that she has the whole broadcast crew making her excuses for her, and never pays any kind of price for her mistakes.

Johanna Long doesn't get the same attention, even though she has actually ACCOMPLISHED something in racing.... but I'm betting she would if she looked great in a bikini....
