PGS and AIRPORT
The one thng that most of you are forgetting, was when the federal gov't and Charotte co. and the state of Florida, expanded Piper rd. from a two lane to a four lane road,it cut the speedway's parking in half.It also made the area and the parking lot a virtual soup bowl.
Doesn't anybody remember how many cancelled shows there's been in the last year? I do.The thing was when Williams took over PGS,Piper rd. was still a two-lane road.I'm sure that te Airport authority NEvER told him that when they had plans to expand the highway to the airport, that they were not going to add drainage to and from the property.
I don't know about you,but if I were to construct ANYTHING, I guarantee you that the state or county would make me buy permit's,and make sure that my property was up to code and have proper drainage.
The Airport didn't do that,or neglected to do anything about it.No matter who does re-open the speedway, you better make SURE the county and state put drainage in,or you'll only be able to run, when there's no rain,so your parking lot doesn't flood. If the county and Airport want to keep raising my lease every few months, without a BINDING AGREEMENT,I'd tell them to piss off!
I still stand by what I said with certain polital forces wanting to tear up the speedway,so the Airport can build another runway and a private hanger for a family's name that rhymes with push. When one of their family member's keep making speeches from the Airport,it makes me scratch my head and go hmmmmmm.
Too bad for them when OBAMA is threatening budget cuts at Charlotte county airport. All best made plans, have a tedency to get screwed up.
