The reason I asked is I saw something on Facebook and wondered if it had been announced at the banquet like I had seen, I would hope they would announce it to everyone. I have been going there for a long time and don't want to see anything happen like has happened at many other tracks so when I heard it was sold, I got scared. I had also seen where Barbara said they were going to Sat nights but nothing in those announcements said anything about new owners or operators.
Maybe Rick didn't get it 100% right but I thank him for trying. Dave D as well.
I am now excited to hear what the new changes will be. Mark is very good with the social media and I sure it will come out soon.

You guys already know more than the drag racers. My crystal ball says a press release may be out very soon about Orlando Speedworld. It's more than a asphalt circle track boys.

Ozzy certainly put a lot of time and money into renovating Lakeland Dragstrip, so i would expect him to do the same at Orlando. I would be very surprised if he leased the circle track too, i don't think he has any experience at all with oval track racing. I'll just wait for the official announcement.
As for lease vs sale, i've heard that the owner is only leasing both tracks, not selling. Although i guess a big enough check would probably be a deciding factor.

EZ, I know it is more than an oval track, there are the guys that can only handle 8 seconds at a time and then you have the stock car crowd!! J/K. I have been to the drag strip before and will continue to go, just not into it as much as the circle track.

Yes, an announcement was made. Ozzy and his wife were introduced at the banquet as the lease holders of Orlando Speedworld. No announcement has been made about the drag strip operations yet. Is tomorrow the 15th ?

The track has been leased to ozzy and his wife it is a long term lease and he will release all the info very soon just very busy getting everything in order looking forward to a great 2013

If it was just leased, why is he going to sink a bunch of money into it? It will take a loooong time to re-coup any investment only to lose it at the end of the lease. Just wait about 30 days and the county will have it on the web after they file if it is sold. Public record.

I guess for the same reason Yoho leased sunshine KNOWING its temp. And sunk in thousands. Write off?

Not going to be a walmart or close down. New people bring in some hope that the track will have some great racing in the future. Every one that races or likes going to speedword should be happy also i am sure a press release will be out soon.

I love that track, and I'm so pleased that it is getting a new lease on life.

Hmmm... In the past year I sold my 3 FASCAR cars, and bought one that they don't race around here. It looks like I'll just be a fan for a while.

That is what I am saying Moe. That is why I am looking forward to hearing about what they are changing / upgrading and what new ideas they are going to try other than Saturday night.
