I agree scott, there is no entry fees, fuel purchase or tire purchase so like you said even if fund are low pull out some used tires and come out and watch a great late model race and run your sportsman. Scott are you going to be there? and if so do you know of any others, I am trying to get an idea of car count as it gets closer.

Remember guys, we gotta support this FUPS Sportsman Series Preview race at Auburndale on Dec. 8th if we want a Series in 2013. Load up that car one last time in 2012 and head to A-Dale. Even if you have to use old tires, borrowed parts and duct tape, do your best to make your presence known. If you're just too balled up or broke at least come out to A-Dale and introduce yourself to Rick Williams (FUPS Director) and let him know if you're gonna be a part of the Series in 2013.

Yes, Virginia there is a Santa Claus (and his name is Rick Williams). I want to personally thank Rick Williams for his hard work and effort in creating the Florida United Promoters Sportsman Series. Rick officially announced that there will be a 12 race Series for Sportsman cars to be held at the various FUPS allianced tracks in 2013, at the Sportsman drivers meeting at Auburndale yesterday. The Series will have a common set of rules and be overseen by the FUPS Late Model officiating team. The first date for the Series will be Saturday (YES, SATURDAY) March 9th at Orlando Speedworld. Details about the newly formed Series as well as a complete schedule will be available soon at www.floridaunitedpromoterslatemodelseries.com . I also want to thank Barbara Pierce, Critter, John Sarppraicone and Rex Guy for believing in Rick Williams and the Sportsman division. Most importantly I want to thank all of my fellow Sportsman competitiors who have sounded off on this thread and then "put their money where their mouth is" by showing up in large numbers at all of the 50 Lap Sportsman events that were held after I put this thread up. It was you guys who showed everybody that a Series like this could be a success. Now let's get ready to race and put on a hell of a show for the fans!

Great car count tonight..... BUT.... someone has to get control over all the cheap shots I saw today. Far too many cautions to keep the fans interest up.

On the flip side, the racing itself was very good. James Wright III came from pretty deep in the field to win. Didn't see many 'Tour' type racers I thought I'd see. Mostly locals from what I could tell.

I Finally Left Thinking This Is Never Going To Get Better!

Sure Enough I Am Not Even To My Truck And Another Caution!

              Dont Think I Missed Anything!

I'm hearing that the series promoters want to make all the built motors 9to1 comp. which will pretty much make them non competitive with the crates.
Tossing out half your cars while just trying to get this thing going sounds like a setup for failure. How many Sportsman guys do you think have $7000 or $8000 dollars to change motors, carbs access, gears. If this is the plan I hope it gets re-thought.

Rick Williams said at the Auburndale drivers meeting that Rules for the FUPS Sportsman Series will be available shortly after the Press Release announcing the Series (which was just released) and will be available at www.floridaunitedpromoterslatemodelseries.com . It will be a 12 race Series with races at Orlando, Citrus, Auburndale, Desoto and New Smyrna from March to November. First race is Saturday March 9th at Orlando Speedworld. Stay tuned to this thread and I will announce when the rules are up. Bill you should be proud, you laid the groundwork for this Series...
