You laugh but believe it or not that is where it starts. If everyone does their part it will turn around. It can't be just two sides of the triangle. It has to be all three!

I've known Tony quite awhile and he does a great job... The only bad thing about announcing at Citrus is the tower faces West... right into the sunset...

You need to have all the facts before you make statements as such. The problem is not one sided and needs to be addressed on everyone's part including the fan,or it will never get better. In these economic times just as in any small business the track needs to cover their basic nut ( no extra plush features) the drivers/owners need to show support ( with support shown to them by the purses) and the fan can't expect everything for free. With ticket prices down the lowest in years, they need to show support and buy that extra hotdog, beer soda, ect, ect. That is what makes things work. When it becomes one dimensional it fails fast. So to hit on one individual it is not fair to anyone involved. Just my opinion!!!
FREE? Which track have you been at and got anything for free? I didn't think so, none of us has gotten anything for free. Well free gas fumes and smoke from the cars somethimes.

Deuces also mentioned ticket prices being "lower than they have been in years"..... Not sure what you are referring to. Every track has gone up in the last few years, other than Punta Gorda, which was far too high to begin with.

Too many places want more for admission than the quality you get for it. $10 per adult for a NORMAL show is about right. Not a watered down, support class only show. $15 is acceptable for a traveling series with extended laps. Anything in the $20 range is a tough sell. It better be something pretty special for people to feel they got $20 worth of excitement.

A 6 car 50 lap "featured" division does NOT make it worth $15. More laps doesn't mean more value to the paying fan, nor is it worth extra admission costs to the racers in the other divisions. Many times it actually hurts the car count In other classes. Why would a Street Stock guy want to pay $30 to get in, instead of $20, just because the Mini Stocks are running for a larger purse? He isn't getting more value, he's getting LESS.

Gotta keep things in line at both the front and back gates.

I know for a fact because I have seen it and would have never believed unless I had not seen it with my own two eyes. That some tracks have let on an average of 50 to 125 people thru the back gate free every night. That is what I am talking about in expecting something for free. They should pay their way just like everyone else. If a track decides to let someone in for free that is all fine and well but the competitors should not suffer because of their decision.

                  Fasson

Every track but Desoto has dropped their prices. You are correct in saying about the support classes not drawing the fans. That is why I said in the first post they need to run less support classes and more traveling classes per night to draw the fan. The support classes would not be paying the entry fee of a dollar per lap like the travel classes. So with that said the difference in the purse and the entry to race would be justified. You really are not getting less you are getting real close to equal if not maybe a little more. You have to look at the big picture from all sides, Tracks, Drivers/Owners, Fans.

Dueces.... I know Punta Gorda dropped their prices, and I think Lake City did also. Other than those 2, I don't recall ANY other track lowering theirs. Not sure where you got your info, but I believe it to be untrue.

If I'm wrong on this, I'd like to know who else has lowered admission costs.

As for Desoto, the pricing to me is irrelevant, as that is not the reason I stay away from there. It's a track policy that does that. They have a "no re-entry" policy. If I'm expected to RE-pay to get back in, I won't be paying in the first place. Lousy policy (and a very cheesy explanation of why it was enacted) keeps me from considering a trip there again. If that policy gets changed, let me know. It's the only reason I avoid the place.

I understand what you are saying and you are right in that is not good business! I don't blame you for not going back. This is why I said it has to not be one sided. The tracks have to work with the drivers and fans just as the drivers and fans have to work with the tracks for it to get better. Can't be hard headed here. This is the big problem! To many hard heads! The thing everyone has to remember is without one side of the triangle ( tracks, drivers , fans) the other two sides don't have success. Just simple good business practice. It is tough times now and people need to work together more than ever. That's my whole point. Whether it happens or not remains to be seen. I hope it does. I know I am trying to do my part.

                                Not naming where

Dont know about that mamy but I have heard of several every week a couple yrs ago. It involved a couple differant teams. Seems they did work or somethin in return. Funny thing, one team is dissolved now, the other seldom shows up.
