I'd pick Jack Duffy or Freddie Stutz. They have each raced for nearly 60 years and are still active in the midgets. At this stage in life, they would not be scared of anything and could always be counted on to speak their mind

aww c'mon, go for the 'youth' market. Ron has only been driving for 30 years.

David Wilson ummm NO! Is he even racing this year?

Pollen is good but I would go with Jeff hands down. Too bad getting a shot in Nascar is about the look as much as it is talent.

Carol, That is a loaded question coming from you. We know you are in love with Jeffery. LOL Just a little tid bit of info. The first lap Jeffery every did in competition he had to do it against defending champion of the track. That was Dustin Dunn. And do you want me to tell you who won that race and won the championship that year too. That is why my vote goes for Dustin Dunn.

So Please vote for Dustin Dunn at the link listed below under ASA South. It is for most popular driver and the award is a new ABC body and God knows we could use it. We are probabily the most under funded team in ASA. WE don't have the $400,000 to $500,000 budget a year like your favorate driver does Carol, that is why I am asking ALL of you to vote for Dustin Dunn Under ASA South everyday at this site.

                  http://www.speed51.com/2007_stories/MPD/SLM_PLM.html

Please vote for Dustin. He really needs it.
Thank you, thank you, thank you

Here is a good pic of him and his ASA car.

Shameless. Does Dustin read this board? He must be saying enough already. He's going to need more than the dozen people that post on this board to win most popular driver.
Just let him keep doing what he's doing and earn whatever he gets. If he's as good and dedicated as you think, he'll get his just rewards. I'm convinced of this. I've seen him race. But you have to remember there are thousands of fathers that think the same as you do about their kid. But only a couple of those kids will ever make it to the top. Heck, more kids will buy their way than earn their way. But what would make you prouder? Seeing him earn his way or buying it for him?
The shameless bragging is getting old though.

Winger, Did you know that this voting on the link I posted was even going on? I will bet a lot of other people didn't either. I am pretty sure that this thread is "Who would you pick?" I made my pick. I noticed you did not.

And Winger beleive me, He already made it way ferther than he should of with a father that works for a construction Co. But, If and when my son make it's higher up the racing ladder it won't be from buying his way. We can't even afford the body they are giving away as the award. That is why I finaly told the people on this board. The voting has been going on since Nov 7 but I knew that if I put this on this board that there would be _ _ _ _ _ like you with a negitive additude. I have posted many many post on several track, karting and motorsports boards and "Winger" was the very first negitive poster. Grow up. He is getting Over 100 votes a day. You want to know why? Well I will tell you. Because I got on the net and email and let people know that there was voting going on. So if you don't want to vote, DON"T. But if nobody even knows voting is going on than you tell me what will happen.

And were just having a little on this dead message board. And if you need to complain there is another section for that. Maybe you will have more fun over there. If you don't have anything to say than...........

                      See ya

To clarify your first question. Dustin is 17. He has much better things to do than to see what a bunch of old farts like you and me are talking about on a message board. Apparently you don't have anything better to do either.

I just went over on 4cycle.com and my post "Dustin Dunn needs your vote". 718 views. Everybody is voting everyday and everyone is very positive and not ONE negitave post. I post on here and in less that 30 min Winger is bashing. Winger, you are the one that should be ashamed of yourself. What is wrong with some of the people on this board. Don't you have ANY class? You probabily say the same thing about the Presidental campain don't ya. I was just trying to let the people that want to vote for Dustin where to do it at. You got a problem with that?

I just looked on my link and gues what. There was no Winger even on the list for most popular driver but there was a DUSTIN DUNN. I guess he is doing something right.

Whoa there Mr. South. You need to learn how to read. I didn't post anything negative about Dustin. Matter of fact I said I was convinced he would reap his rewards for his hard work. I had seen him race. That was a compliment. I was trying to offer you a little advice so you won't be too disappointed if he doesn't make it. Like I said, there are thousands of fathers across this country that feel as passionate about their kids as you do. The only negative thing I said was I thought the shameless bragging was getting old. I still do. I didn't say I thought you was buying his way into the sport. I didn't even insinuate that. I said that more kids would buy their way into the sport than earn it. I believe Dustin is earning his way in. I asked if you would be prouder if you bought your way or earned your way. I assumed it would be if you earned your way. I didn't call you any names. You didn't call me any either but you chose to use ------, which is the same thing to me. FYI, I do use the other forum for complaining since I don't have anything better to do.

Just for your information, in the past I have made positive posts about Dustin. I have put him on the short list of possible future stars in this sport. Surprisingly, I've never heard you mention anything about those posts.

The reason I haven't picked anyone in this thread is because the class was for SLM drivers. I can't really say there are any Florida drivers that really jump out at me and say I'm a future Nascar star. Jeff Choquett maybe, but he had a chance. I think Wayne Anderson is a driver that had potential but unfortunately his age is against him. I didn't realize Dustin raced SLM's. As I said, I think he's someone to watch but is he ready for a driver development program? No, I don't think he is yet. There are other kids I have watched and think have potential also. Cody Pitts comes to mind. Is he a SLM driver? No. Is he ready for a development deal? No. IMO, the best thing for your son is to keep doing what he is doing. Maybe get a job with a top Nascar team.

As for you I have some suggestions for you but I guess I should keep them to myself. However, learning to read and write would be good first steps. Then learning a little diplomacy would be a good second.

Personally, I hope I don't see you. BTW, these are only my views and not necessarily the views of anyone else. But they may be!!

                            my dear friend Andrew...

i know what a dedicated father and promoter you are. i also know how hard you work for Dustin. I know about your pride... there is no doubt in my mind that Dustin is an awesome driver. i too am very proud of him. it does bother me that you seem to be begging and i dont think you need to. begging makes it seem like you are desperate...being confident makes people take notice.
i love jeff? well this is a fact andrew because i love all the drivers. i think jeff is one of the best racers ive ever met in short track racing. i also think he has a wonderful personality and treats his fans very special. it does not mean that he is the only one i think that of. i am also very very close to Travis Kittleson and Jay Middleton...BJ McLeod... lots of them. How in the world could i chose. i am way too emotionally involved to be fair and impartial....i dont want to EVER have to make choices like that. its just me andrew. i dont know if its a fault but it is me and i cant be any other way.
if you will notice.... i did NOT vote! i will NOT vote. i would have a very hard time doing that. i am not able to because i dont have enough experience.
someone wrote Ross Chastains name as a pick... i adore the kid. he is a very good driver...he is a happy, wonderful kid who is always smiling and never too busy for his fans.however i cannot even imagine him as a NASCAR Sprint cup driver yet...that is my opinion but a scout might feel different. i am crazy about dustin and i think he can drive the wheels off a car... would he be picked for a NASCAR ride? heck andrew...i dont know. there are so many factors in being a pick for NASCAR....for one thing $$$$$$$$ and lots of it. driving ability, personality, the ability to sell products which also means appearances on tv, radio, and live audiences...they have to appeal to the audience. i think now and in the future that is a criteria. years ago it was different.
i asked the question in a specific way and some people have gone off the path. does anyone think a NASCAR scout would consider Josh Williams for a cup ride. maybe i am really uneducated and if i am i hope someone will explain to me why and how i am wrong. Josh races great in a legends car. is this what NASCAR is looking at. i truly have no idea. Joshes name was mentioned.
Earl Pearson, an awesome dirt late model driver... would they look at him...im thinking yes on Earl.
i went way beyond what i wanted to say... i am crazy about you and dustin and your whole family so i hope you understand my post. it was really just supposed to be a kind of fun post to break the monotony during off season. a chance for people to talk about their favorite driver. i sure as heck NEVER meant to hurt anyone.

mr south, I've decided to take this off board. I've sent you a PM and email. You will know what I think of you when you read that. If you feel an apology is in order, I will accept it. If not, you will still know how I feel about you.

Carol, you know i luv ya to death. That is why I can joke with you like that about Jeffery. It was a joke. But really, where do you and Winger see in my post #23 any begging. Do you mean when I said "Please vote for Dustin". That's crazy. Did any of you even know about the voting. We have contacted over 300 people that will vote for Dustin that didn't even know the voting was going on. I don't think either of you knew it was going on either. Know what is wrong with that? You don't have to vote. I was just letting you know it was going on.

Winger, You think I need to learn how to read. Well you better read my post again and show me where I said that you said anything negitive about Dustin. What I said was "I knew that if I put this on this board that there would be _ _ _ _ _ like you with a negitive additude". And there was. Your first word was negitive. Your whole post was negitive. And I assure you that if you ever posted a kind word about Dustin and I read it than I posted a very kind thank you back at that time. That is the way I am. Again, since you are such a world class reader, were was I begging. I post 1 post on here and ask "please vote for Dunstin Dunn and you say "The shameless bragging is getting old though". If I said "please pass the milk" would you think I was begging. It is called being polite. Maybe you should read a book on how to be polite. Maybe you are the one at needs to the attend the reading class.
