  • Gov Cup - helluva race!

Not sure where to start - but I will go with a congratulations to David Rogers, he drove a smart raced and capitalized when it mattered. You could tell when that caution came out for Choquette that it was going to be a bloodbath with the top three. Nasse had the car to beat all night - only Rogers challenged him at the halfway mark.

My take on the Russell/Nasse deal is that Russell dive bombed him on the first restart and drove him up the track. Nasse gave him a shot going into one - probably an escalation over what russell did, but figured they were about even. Good news for me was that Rogers was there to take over the lead.

Tons of individual battles all night. I was impressed with Rebecca Kastens first half of the race - real quick and smart - then the wheels fell off. Weller was solid too. Choquette emptied everything that car had all night.

The other thing I was impressed with was the crowd - it was the largest crowd i have seen since they put in the new grandstand and resembled the crowds from back in the All Pro/Cracker 200 days. All of the sections were pretty full. The parking lot was full several hours ahead of time with people parking along 44. You could tell the concessions were overwhelemed long lines all night.

Attrition was hell only around 10 left and no idea why you guys pissed around and started qualifying so late - but i saw alot of people leaving before the race was over with small kids.

Overall though - Great Job NSS!! Next year ought to be awesome.

KNOT right and knot allowed in

Don't know much about race cars but if the car is not within the rules after the race that's o.k. What if they changed the car after they went through tech. Again don't know much about race cars but i do know most of them push the line. Also good job DAVID ROGERS WAY TO GO.

Good summary. Best event I've seen in a long time.

                  Entertaining, to say the least.

Wow Don, that don't sound like Florida racing at all! Even of i was mad at you i would still have sold you a ticket with a $5 additional fee and required you to buy a minimum of 10 beers and 2 hot dogs.
Normalcy is a myth. what is perfectly normal for the Cheetah, Becomes absolute chaos for the Antelope.

The race started at 8:55 and ended around 11:30. Qualifying was about two hours late due to, according the track, slow response to pre-qualifying tech.

Nasse was on a rail and on a mission. Too bad he got DQ'ed for a nose infraction. Entertaining race and it was cool to listen to Speed 51's coverage live. Those guy's got it going on.

                          Started at 8:55?

And did someone say 10 cars finished and 3-4 d'qd? Glad i stayed home, probably wouldn't of been let in either Don! Been banned from better places.HAHAHAHA
Gotta admit, I do wish I'd been there to watch David Rodgers win. Somebody said he saved it till it counted, he ALWAYS saves it till it counted. For some reason he learned long ago the race is not won till the end. He's one of the best if not the best I've seen at staying in the hunt and saving it till it counts. I've always said lots of drivers need to watch him and learn from him. Good going David, I really screwed up not being there!!

You shouldn't have stayed home. Regardless of how many cars finished or failed tech, it was about the best late model race I've seen in a long, long time! Only complaint would be the amount of caution laps! MOVE THE SHOW ALONG!

David isent thefastest car most of the time but in the end he has been smarter than most. Fast time dont pay enough.the fastest car never wins a long distance race. a good car and a smart driver does.
Rember who said.. To finish first u must first finish.40 started 10 finished. david had 10 cars to race the rest beat themself.
