25 cars at OSW?

Here's my 2 cents worth. I believe that honestly Rick's hands are tied just like I believe Rusty's were. I believe that Robert is not going to pay more money to any class. I don't understand why OSW has 6 or 7 classes that only drawl 5 or 6 cars. Instead of just trying to run 4 or 5 and build them? I can remember when OSW had full pits. I hate to see OSW close but how long can Robert keep putting out money and not get anything in return? I don't know what the answer is. I wonder why the most exspensive class to run normally drawl the most cars on a regular Friday night? I don't know what A-Dale is doing or Citrus but whatever it is it's working. I would take some time and go over there and talk to the driver's to see what bring's them back each week. Is it the payout or whatever the reason is and apply that to OSW and NSS. I believe that the people that run the FASCAR tracks are trying hard but something not working.

The competing tracks people and racers that don't get their way
*sigh*
yeah. because class champions "didn't get their way" ... for an entire season.
If a stranger to SpeedWorld read this thread, why would they even want to come and race at the track?
get serious, Jane.
how many weeks are they going to have to come to the track to before they figure it out?
better:
how many times are they going to have to check the weeks racing results before they ever decide to make the trip?
trying to sweep the flagrantly obvious under the rug doesn't accomplish anything. just like the two die-hard fans that Dave talked about, if they come out of ignorance they're just going to leave PO'd.Racers Supporting Racers - for all your Vero Beach area automotive repair needs:

Obviously the mods are still there since you could see that from Larry's race at Citrus and I see alot of familiar names in the mod results at Auburndale. So they are still there just not going to a FASCAR Mod race for some reason.
As for Tunaman, I am sure if he knew Cara, he would help her since he has helped quite a few drivers. He really isn't a bad person just been burned some and alittle bitter because of that but he is NOT a bad person. Maybe if he would get her two new tires, someone else could help her get the other two since you are talking some money here and not sure just how much anyone has right now.
I still get race results from alot of tracks, both asphalt and dirt, and always look at the names when I post the results. I have seen some asphalt drivers now in dirt results and some just plain missing from any results. It is the ones who are just missing from any results that you need to talk to and find out why they aren't racing anymore. And there are quite a few of them really.
Personally, I just don't want to see another track go down because we have already lost enough since I have worked for karnac. I remember going to Bronson when Mike first bought it and taking photos of all the improvements he was doing to open that track. He had all good intentions and so did the people who worked there but now it sits empty. Putnam is trying to do something but they sit empty. Hialeah is gone, Jacksonville is gone, St. Augustine is gone, USA International (our Daytona for short track racers), it is gone. Just don't want to see another one GONE.
Hope everyone has a great week and if you can, support your local track this weekend.Last edited by Jane; 07-21-2010, 12:06 AM.

Think back over the last five years. When has OSW been the most packed, outside of PRI?
When Rusty did things like boat trailer races.
Why?
It was different and this town has lots of entertainment options.
Albert Einstein defined insanity as doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different outcome.
At least Rusty did something different and the track had a prayer of making money.www.FloridaSprintCarFans.com - because Florida sprint car racing needs all the help it can get...

Don't think they are going to let me race on street tires for my Super Stock.
DOT treaded tires? why wouldn't they?
that's less tire than the rule specifies. never heard of throwing somebody out for doing way LESS than the rule book allowed before.
anyways, it don't take much to pick up the phone and call the tech man....Racers Supporting Racers - for all your Vero Beach area automotive repair needs:

I would be more than happy to bring my car to race but I don't have the Hoosier grooved tires. Don't think they are going to let me race on street tires for my Super Stock.
i think they would since they let me bring out my "mini stock" with grooved goodyears and my dads "mini stock" with mcrearyslets all take a long ride on a short bus.
I quit fishing because no one was standing at the docks handing out money when i got back, why did you quit racing?

The good news: You're pretty much guaranteed a top 10 no matter what you bring.
a year ago Ron finished in the top 5 in a Sportman race at OSW. with an enduro prepped Camaro and a stock engine.

urez2pass- I don't even know Tunaman and in no way do I expect him to buy me tires.
Jane= Thanks for the kind word and it would be nice if someone purchased me tires so I could race but in no way did I get on the board expecting someone to. There are a lot of other racers in worst shape financially than we are and right now we are doing fine since I am back to work after not having a job for two years.
Todd- I wouldn't stand a chance on the street tires. They are not in good shape. I did contact the techman a few years ago over something and got the biggest run around. Had another racer do it recently and went through the same thing and was told we had to race on Hoosier grooved.
al-tere-go-05 = OSW is letting you race other brands of tires? I was told there was no excuse because all drivers were given plenty of time to get the new Hoosier grooved.
Now, I know some people are going to say I am complaining which I am not. I just don't want to waste money on new tires that only last for a few weeks of racing or to find out after purchasing them, the track is changing tires again. My challenge was to the track to let us run whatever brand and style of tires we had just to get cars out there. This included inviting drivers from other tracks but I do realize there might be a problem with that since other tracks have different rules for their cars and classes than what FASCAR has.
In no way am I putting down the track. The track itself has done nothing wrong but be there for us to race on.
I would be interested in purchasing some Hoosier grooved takeoffs if there are any out there.
Hope everyone has a great day!!!Last edited by Cara; 07-21-2010, 07:22 AM.

Cara,
sshhhhhush - I'm trying to get Tuna off his wallet - It's his opportunity to do something positive for the racing community - If I had not busted his chops so much, I would be asking him to buy me tires.
I don't expect him to pony up - hes only full of hot air.

Yes, Tuna does have a wallet but also has problems just like the rest of us do but you never know. He has helped other racers so who knows what or if he can do anything right now. You may not like this but whether he buys some tires for Cara or not, I still have respect for the man. He is NOT a bad person but yes, he has some bitterness about some things but he still goes to the race tracks and pays his good money to get in and watch.
And I have known Cara for many, many years when she was at the track every weekend with her friend Homer and she did race. But times got hard for her and it was more important to take care of her family than to race every weekend. But I do know that Cara wants to race again and she is trying everything she can to do so. And I know if at all possible, Tuna would help her if he can.
But Cara is only one of the racers missing from the line-ups, there are alot more out there still.
