    Good Idea!

We are working on the race car to come back but family does come first and our son just had his second surgery in less than year. I have gone back to work and only have weekends to try and work on car but usually someone calls wanting something done so they come first (especially if it is to make more money to get the car going again).
You know Cara, yrs ago before I even got remotely interested in local racing I occasionally went by OSW and would see that big sign, I'd say, "I bet thats fun, I need to go someday. I'm sure the billboards are expensive but I bet they would draw new fans. I guarantee there are people sitting home weekends wishing there ws something interesting to do. Again, good idea.

Tuna, just curious. When was the last race you went to? Did you like it? If you didn't have fun, when and where was the last race that you did have fun at?

...and that's part of the problem; that sign is probably the only billboard for Orlando Speed World, and it's out in the middle of beautiful downtown Bithlo. What about other highways - 408, 417, US 192, SR 50, SR 520, I-4, or even I-95? There's NO advertising that I know of. No print (newspaper), no radio, nothing that I can think of. Again, I understand it takes money to advertise, but if no one (or very few people) know what's out there (as far as local short tracks), then how do you expect people to know about your track/facility?

The Orange Blossom 100 this week resembles the original race in name only. The glory of what was once the last race of the season is long gone. What does this race pay to win? What's it pay to even just take the green flag? There's no quality field of cars any more; maybe three or four *good* cars, a few that might get lucky, and some that probably end up parking. I betcha the field'll start just about straight up, with the winner coming from the first two rows. I bet there'll be no inversion or racing up through the field from the back. Why? No one (driver-wise) outside of central Florida probably knows tis race even still exists. Remember when at least half the field was from out of town, or even out of state? The Allisons, Red Farmer, Trickle, Detjens, and quite a few other great cars and drivers used to make the trip down. Why? Because this race was advertised at the end of the regular racing season in publications like National Speed Sport News. I bet there won't be anyone there outside of the central Florida area (with the exception of Steve Weaver, who I saw in the other thread that he's towing up here, and I believe he's out of south Florida).

it's a waste of time to spend money promoting when you have no show for the fans that do show up.

they must fix the show, then they can worry about an advertising blitz. they can try doing both at the same time, but they'd have to demonstrate that they actually have some conception of what's wrong on the back gate and track sides.
