Fastlanefan, you make some good points.

They also, welcome you and ask you to come back and race again.
The FASCAR staff is very welcoming to the racers. They are friendly, helpful and I hear a few "thank you"s every week. This is something the staff has clearly taken to heart. Now I am also sure that if you treat them like dirt, yell and cuss, then you can expect a different response from them.

they don't have rules for some and not for their track/race sponsors or rich daddys.
This was a real problem for years, and seemed especially pronounced at NSS. I know they have made a lot of progress on this front. Based on my experience, and in my class, I don't think there is much of this going on anymore.

How many of you have showed up at the track to volunteer to help clean up or paint?
You have got to be kidding on this one. Years ago at Hialeah, I did some volunteer work because the track was owned by the club, but certainly you can't expect us to maintain the place too. Its all I can do to get a car there every week.

Fastlane and Boneman: I don't have a car but one way I did show my support was to not only weed, paint and trim bushes but shoot video for use on tv to get the word out last summer when the track was "re-opening" after all the rain. I did what I could. I wasn't trying to say that those of you that bring the show should also be working at the track but I don't see how if the track doesn't have any front gate action, they can pay big purses to pack teh pits. I think it has to be a team effort.
If I had a car I would be out there every Friday I could, like I used to. Didn't have a crew and thank goodness for my one sponsor, but I was out there.

Sorry, maybe I am just way off base. Who knows. Have a good rest of your weekend all.

        Gentleman, Guys, Gals----

This thread wasn't about more ideas.............just the opposite.
I had thought that this steam-engine like the FASCAR sancioning body, would not really have to resort to lowly asking a small-time message board on how to promote wealth for themselves...their Raceway...or get fans in the stands.

The Bristol, Browns and Keelor get the pass, as they have nothing to do with this thread. They are good people.

FASCAR is the Party that has had the controlling hand for all these years. My question was somewhat like as, "Why, after all these years of FASCAR control, isn't there a formula/recipe' for success?"

It had been achieved many times before, but why not now?

(again we pass on Bristol, Keelor, and Browns) they are good!

I ought to know better, but I'll bite on this one. At the risk of being labeled one of those "negative" posters that we're always hearing about I'm gonna give you my opinion and it ain't something that you're gonna want to hear. The "good old days" that everyone is pining for are over and I am really afraid that they ain't never coming back for a myriad of reasons. Believe me, there's NOBODY out there who mourns their passing more than I do, but if you think about what MADE the good old days so good, you can see that it's just not gonna happen that way in the world that we live in today. When I say "the good old days" I'm talking about a front gate show where you had a strong enough fan base that you could pay the bills and the purses with the front gate and still make a few bucks at the end of the day. Back in the day, what drew the fans back week after week was a solid field of one or two top level classes made up of PERSONALITIES that people knew and recognized. You had weekly drama, story lines, heroes and villains..... You simply aren't going to have that with today's "division of the week" mentality. Racing has become far too fractionated, or diluted if you will. There are still isolated markets in pockets of the country where you still have that kind of a show, witness "Madhouse" i.e. Bowman Gray Stadium, Williams Grove and the Central Pa circuit, and a few more areas, but it takes YEARS to build up that kind of a situation if it's possible at all. I'm afraid that we're stuck with a participant driven, back gate show type of deal and not many of us want to hear that answer. So I guess we just have to make the best of it and change our focus on what it will take to maximize that kind of an operation. Me, I'm too old and set in my ways to get on board for that dog and pony show, but if you guys want short track racing to survive, you'd best stop wasting time on trying to figure out how to turn back the clock and deal with the world that we're living in TODAY.

Hey Tuna, we do not need that on here. Why don't you go fishing like you said you were gonna and if you truly have given up on racing like it sounds, then move on.

Boneman is entitled to his opinion just like you are but he has never threatened anyone and doesn't need that from you or anyone else.

Thanks and good luck in your next hobby.

Go fishing and leave racing to the people that participate.

                          a serious question here:
how the hell do you keep dragging me into this stuff?

i never asked for that information. i never replied to your post. i haven't previously commented about you or to you in this thread.

all i did was explain to racnphotos what was actually being suggested by telling the track to talk to the racers in the pits.

Let me say i tried to take this Boneman , Tuna thingv out of this forum many times. Personal e-mails etc. He wants nothing to do with it, he thinks he's the big comedian everyone loves and waits for. I have asked him on more than one occasion to stop it, I've asked in a nice way, in personal e-mails. He has stated on the other web page he was done with KARNAC, refused to post on here, refused to race at FASCAR tracks, and now he comes on here again saying if I make a crazy statement about my friend in Orlando getting DQ'D for nothing I should back it up. This person has been around and involved in racing than most of you. He's in the NASCAR Hall Of Mechanics for MEchanics. Does that make him any better than anyone else? No! But my point was when he got shafted it cost FASCAR dearly!! He won't admit it but I know all it would of taken was a phone call to of got him back. Everyone that knows him loves him, but its too late now, he's done with FASCAR for ever. I simoly suggested to Rick maybe if he tried contacting some of the drivers that are no longer there some of them might come back. HE agreed, is going to try, I believe him. BONEMAN was the one that stuck his nose in here, as usual, and racinphoto to some extent. So sorry, I WILL go back at him and anyone else that thinks its cool to intentionally make fun of, poke at, be a general A-- H--- at someone elses expense!!!! Hes an idiot!!
