    Oh-Boy

    I rarely hear of 'No Rules' for the sportsman bodies, but I would like to see some wild stuff, like;

--84" inch extended shovel-scoop wedge noses-
--12' foot high clear plexi-glass sideboards and kites-
--extended wheel wells, and raised rear decking-
--72" inch rear spoilers and extra wings on top-
    --chopped and lowered roof tops-
--open cockpit with a sprint car wing on top-

    This could get interesting.

12' foot high clear plexi-glass sideboards and kites-

we have those. i put a side board on the 27 that is so tall it scrapes the top of the trailer.
lets all take a long ride on a short bus.

I quit fishing because no one was standing at the docks handing out money when i got back, why did you quit racing?

        missing something??

Forgive me if i am, but it sounds like if my track approves 10" tires I can run them but maybe have to add 50lbs? How many would not GLADLY add 50lbs and run 10"tires?? Sorry, seems kinda unfair to me. Plus the switch to 8" tires is to save the competitor $? Dont forget you have to buy all new wheels too. Should have a MIN of 6 @ what about $70 each? That is for mid line light weight. So lets see, thats $420 wheels plus maybe $500 or so for tires the first week? Thats almost a grand the 1st. week. Plus lots of guys have several runable used 10" tires. I wonder how many will just give up and quit?? If saving money for the racer was the REAL motive there would be a tire rule, THAT would create "An even playing field"

last week i heard that they were going to allow 10" wheels with 8" tires mounted on them. But now your saying 8" wheels only?

Rims and wheels are cool, and all that, but what about the non-existant sheet metal body rule? Let that sheet metal go wild!!!! Why not let it go all the way toward hell and back again?

Sorry, I wasn't aware of that. STILL is a big expense in the middle of the yr thats all. i personally know of 2 locals who are selling their cars, just cant come up with the $1000 to switch over.I still say if "they" wanted to make it more affordable for the owners there would be a tire rule. Then if you have a million dollars and i have 5 hundred we have the same number of new tires, THAT would level the field. But then again I guess this new rule levels the field also, the owners with low budget will quit and it will become all big budget teams. We now watch 5-6 Sportsman when they race so maybe it will be 3-4, but a level field. I don't know, just doesnt make sense to me but then again it doesn't have to. I'm going fishing!!

We have all been whining about NSS/OSW and the 10" sportsman tire rule for years. If you want to draw new cars to the track this rule had to be changed, you can't be the only track's in the state on that combination.

The new 8" tire rule will now put the race back into the driver's/Crew chief's hand's, because the 10" tire was used as a crutch to help car's that didn't handle. This will improve racing in this class, watch and see.

The only problem I have with this class now is the use of side board's, That is completely stupid. You will pickup a good 2 to 3 tenth's with side board's done correctly. The problem is they are expensive, ugly, unpractical, and another crutch to fix a chassis handling problem.

While I like the no body rule's, I dislike the sideboard's, and think it should just have a 6" spoiler rule and be done with it. Run the car topless if you want but no sideboard's.

Just my opinion, not that it matter's I don't even own a car right now, I will again one day and if sideboard's are allowed you better raise the flagstand and the tech shed roof, because they will be sky scraper's!!!!!!

First, I love the idea of 8" tires and as far as the side boards go, I could care less one way or another. If the competitions has it and its an advantage I guess I better have it too.

Here is my problem with switching to 8" tires. I just bought 4 new 10" tires raced them once (15 LAPS) and was planning on using them for the 50 lapper at Nss. I have 4 new wheels plus a couple of newer used ones. Thats over $1000 that is basically wasted. A new set of 8" tires is the rest of my racing budget for the summer.

I feel the first set of 8" tires that we are now forced to buy if we want to race should be given to us at cost. I am in the retail business and if I screwed somebody I would feel pretty bad about it and do everything I could to help them out.

This kind of Bullshit should be figured out BEFORE the season starts, NOT IN THE MIDDLE OF IT.

You are absolutely right!! Now lets see if you get called retarded for saying so like I did!! Funny that all cost you $1000. That is EXACTLY what I said was wrong with changing rules in the middle of the yr. I don't care what size tires they run, it still costs lots of guys lots of money in the middle of the yrf. If this has been such a pressing issue for so long why did it have to change in the middle of the yr??? Tires at cost, for any reason? Never happen!
