    Investment

And to top all that off, the initial investment for my 21 ft. boat new was about the same as a decent Sportsman with LOTS less chances of getting wrecked. Heck, now that I think of it, I can even buy insurance on the boat. Now I understand why I bought a boat instead of a race car.

I think someone might be cornfused. i know why atleast one class (sportsman) has low car count. and it aint payout ist because some guy in samsula bought every sportsman in centeral florida and hoards them in his garage. if he would find drivers and bring hic cars to the track we could double the carcount in one week.
Maybe he would bring them out if the pay was there!!!

        Huh?

You're gonna compare fishing to driving a race car? I don't think so.

I live on a very big lake in S. Marion county. Nice dock and swimming area.
I own 3 race cars......no boats (unless you count the canoe for the grand-kids).

Mikey said "I quit fishing when they quit paying out money at the docks' I was simply saying it's why LOTS of people are not driving race cars anymore. There are other fun things to do that are lots of fun , less expensive, and lots less BS to go with it! Ever notice the # of boats at the New Smyrna launch these days? I wonder how many of these people own race cars and cant afford to run them any more, or WOULD own a race car instead of a boat if the $ made sense?? Many, I'm one.

                hey flounderman.
what track do you go to where you are not allowed th bring your own food and the ruled are dependant on how much money you have? I race at Nss and im by no means rich but i still go by the same rules as the "rich" people. and YES I can race a weekend for the amount it will cost to go out 35 miles off shore all day

as for puting dirt on it, that will not make the races getter or bring more cars. infact the only thing it will do is make me not come back

I quit fishing because there was no one handing out money at the docks when i got back. Why did you quit racing?

8 classes?? Who decides what classes to run at this track? The owner? Promoter? Anyone who's got a car behind the barn and wants to turn some laps? This doesn't sound like a business. This sounds like something you'd do on the "back 40" with a few of your relatives and neighbors.

I would imagine only relatives and close friends would make up the grandstand "crowd". It may be fun to run in a 3 car race but who wants to watch it. I'm not poking fun at guys for wanting to race and I've been around it enough, over the years, to know how much they put into it in both time and money, but you can't realistically sell this to the general public as an event they have to pay to watch. 41 cars in 8 classes is club event. Better to just rent the track, have a good time and don't bother to consider fans or purses.
