  • Is it time to pull the plug?

First, let me say I hope not. But Friday night, the weather was perfect, Ocala was rained out, it wasn't a holiday weekend, there was no NASCAR race on TV, and Orlando Speed World had 41 cars in eight classes, and that includes Bandoleros. There wasn't much of a crowd, but there never is unless something is exploding.

Part of this low count I genuinely don't understand: There are what, 50 Legends cars out there? 75? But only four show up. Once you buy the car, the Legends are probably the cheapest car to run, but still they aren't coming out.

I don't know at what point Robert Hart says, OK, I give up. But 41 cars in 8 classes has to be pretty close to that point.

    8 Classes?

Are you shi!!ing me? 8 classes? Why on earth would there be 8 classes? With that many classes, some should be alternating weekends.

That's only a car a class. Almost! Way to many classes. Again this point has been talked over onhere too many times for it to keep happening.

sounds like the racers are making a point . with no decent payout eventually they run out of money . either have to quit or race elsewhere .theres not enough rich daddys to support the track . most other tracks pay double what fascar pays out . most racers are hard working guys struggling to get by in todays economy . they cant continue to lose money on a weekly basis . it costs more just to get in the gate , fuel ,tires than it pays to win . common sense tells you that sooner or later ,all you have left is the rich daddys ! catering to them for the last few years , allowing the rules and costs to get out of hand has brought us to this point . the only way the wounds going to heal is to find ways to cut costs for the racer and fans and up the payouts to what the competing tracks are paying . not to mention if you moved speedworld to sunday afternoon racing would help due to the traffic issues .

I think someone might be cornfused. i know why atleast one class (sportsman) has low car count. and it aint payout ist because some guy in samsula bought every sportsman in centeral florida and hoards them in his garage. if he would find drivers and bring hic cars to the track we could double the carcount in one week.

I quit fishing because there was no one handing out money at the docks when i got back. Why did you quit racing?

            missed the drivers meeting but....

...I heard FASCAR may be going to a treaded Hoosier. I know they need to make a buck or two on tires but these slicks are good for about three races. It would sure help alot of us out.

                  Tires

Rick stated in the drivers meeting that FASCAR is still testing tires and that they have found one that they like but they are trying to get them with a little stiffer sidewall. Hopefully they will decide on something soon. We've had 4 races this season and I have to buy a new set of right sides for my Pure Stock before I can race again.

yes , tires that last would be nice . i spoke to the hoosier tire distributor 2 weeks ago and he said the treaded tires they tested were found unsafe for use . didnt seem to think we will see anything different anytime soon . the currant tire we are running is the most paper thin tire ive ever seen . you would think they could double the thickness of the tread patch and sidewall and we would have a better tire . hopefully the change is made for next season not in the middle of this season . not everyone can afford to buy new tires .

and now for m. seay . mikey i wish it was that simple . now you know that theres plenty of space on the quarter panels and hood anytime your ready to be a sponsor ! unfortunatly just cant justify racin at nss . to have to buy 4 tires [ $500 ] , 10 gal fuel , [$85 ] ,pit entry , food , etc . , [ $100 ] to have a slight chance to win $ 50 ? i dont think so . starting this saturday if all goes according to plan , we will be racing the rest of the season at cmp [ lake city ] . where theres a level playing field , [ 8 inch tires ] , and more than double the payout .

If i sponsor do i get to drive? if so i call dibs on that camaro lookin one and ill come up with the tires and i uy fuel by the 55 gal drum so its cheaper. Nss has a level playing field even though they run 10" tires if a crate motor can win at nss i dont see why anyone with a decent car and who works on their car doesnt have a chance at wining.

I can go 35 miles off shore, fish all day, 3-4 people and spend MAX $100, can you race for 1/2 an hr for that?? And best part, the rules ARE the same for everyone, rich or poor.
