I was asked to post this so here goes:

    Jane,

I can post to classifieds but not to anything else....tried multiple times to get help....nothing.

Please post this for me under- E-Mods for Orlando and New Smyrna - who is building one (asked by Shain Held)

I am currently having a brand new modified built to run the E-mod class. It will be my first asphalt circle track car. The engine rule being affordable is what attracted me to the FASCAR Series E-Mod class. I'm racing for fun....not looking to get rich off my winnings or get that ride with Hendricks. I've raced for years in the SCCA where a plaque is all you get for winning. I'm looking forward to doing my part in helping the class grow and attracting some fans to the racetrack.

see you at the track, Jeff Bailey

Finally we have a winner. Someone who has understood the meaning of the word: HOBBY, Bcuz, Saturday Night Racing is a HOBBY, nothing to get rich out of, and any award at the end of the night should be considered a plus, not a necessity.

        crate motors??

I don't think crate motors should be allowed unless a claimer rule is in effect. They're easy to cheat up.

Easier to "cheat up" than a superstock motor? I always hated tech myself, tried to find rules that minimized the need for motor teardowns and such. My answer would be to limit the breathing (350 carb) and limit the rpm (limiter chip or gear). Easy to police and who cares what's inside the motor if you can't use it?

This class sounds great on paper. Problem is, now we have ANOTHER class and the emods started OUT here to begin with and they were allowed to evolve to where they are now. Same old story, over and over again! Why should you think it's gonna be any different THIS time around????

            wait a minute ---- hobby --- hobby

there ain't no way that a hobby can cost this much money

fishing would be a hobby like with a 12 000 dollar boat . or playing golf . with 2.000 dollar set of golf clubs . jogging . or riding a bycycle

you better find a nother name for racing besize hobby because when we went from 1964 to 2010 the hobby horse ran away

there is a claim rule according to the rulebook . and sure sat . nite racin is a hobby if you race a strictly stock for a trophy . higher classes need to make a little back each nite to be able to afford to race next week . not everybody has a rich daddy . as you can see the tracks with higher payouts have bigger car counts and packed grandstands .this hobby mentality is a huge part of whats killing short track racing in florida . back when the payouts in florida were double what they are now , packed grandstands and huge car counts was the norm . saturday nite racin was built on the backyard racer not the rich daddys who spend their way to a win , not work for it .

If I raced for money, I would have quit loooong ago. I have just adjusted to the payouts and the change in the class (thus the different engines). I do it because I like it. But I want to be competative also. Sure I gripe about it, and do many others, but I'm back every week like the drunk at the local bar every Friday to drink his money away. I'm not backing up to basically a Street Stock with no fenders. If they wanted a true E-Mod class then they should have went back on the chassis rules like they use to be. Didn't need a floater or Quick change, full frames(all the way back), stock upper control arms, stock suspension on rear(no 3 link, heim joints, etc.) big clutch and flywheel, stock mount sway bar,and so on. If you use a crate engine with a small clutch, then you have to buy a $250.00 flywheel to use your old one. Cannot even use your headers because the ports have been raised or the bolt holes lowered because the header will cover almost half the port on the 602 heads, No fun being a rolling road block. I will just save me a LOT of money this year since I only have to buy 3 sets of tires and maybe 30 gallons of gas (3 nights, that's all they have us scheduled for at Speedworld). Or I could go to N.S.S. and get 4 nights. But who wants to go there and get their ass kicked by that Jet Jason Boyd drives.

Like the word or not, this is still a hobby, since this is not your living.

How much it costs has nothing to do with it, and like everything else, it can be adjusted to your need. There are golf courses in Japan and Germany that cost hundreds of thousands of dollars to be member.... Or you can play here and there for 50$ to 100$ in your own area. Did you ever ride a speed boat for a full day full blast!!!!! How much fuel will you use for that??? Or you can take a small fishing boat and cruise the intra costal for pretty cheap and have as much enjoyment. Bike riding...Ever bought a custom bike from real custom shop????? They will get you for hundred grands without even cracking a smile.....Or you can get yourself a used Honda Shadow for a handfull of dollars... And through all of those, nobody will be waiting for you with a trophy or a purse when you come back home at the end of the day. And those are facts of life...If a class seems out of reach for some, they should just join another cheaper one and have as much fun.

what your not getting is the track owners greed for huge profits off the backs of the racer is what has killed the car counts and drove away the fans due to a 3 to 5 car race in all classes . this snowballs down to the local race shops , fabricators and part suppliers who do this for a living . not a hobby for them . its how they feed their families . now take a look at say , bowman-grey or other sucessfull tracks who have packed grandstands and huge car counts . why are they sucessfull ? lower grandstand admission , double the payoffs in all classes , real rules and fair consistant tech . it works very well for them and it could work in florida as well . but as long as greed and pay to play mentality is in force , short track racing in florida is only going to get worse .

now this is just a thought only a thought

i like racing kinda like a wino but worse no what i mean ,,, and i like fast cars and competition . but you got to spend to win no matter what class you race .

and this protesting or policing your class and having rules to go by and having a class were three different motor builders build motors or class with crate motor then you cheat up crate motor .. now you got a rocket crate motor .

and i have seen were they have a rule were they buy your motor

well is this stupid or what think about it they have horse races claimer race

how about car claimer race it don't matter if it's a bomber - a sportsman - open wheel - late model or super late model or figure eight

have to aggree on price whole car when you agree to race in that class and who ever runs in top five only cash only say you run the claimer race and race just finished top five cars pull up front straight a way and we are talking about whole car you step out with your helment only

and when you agreed to race in that class you have no option and you can't buy that car back . and that car can not be sold for four weeks to any one else

so who is going to soak say 5000 dollars in a car that is going to be sold for ?? what ever they agree upon sat 1500.00 how about a street stock claimer 3500.00 or sportsman for 4500.00 . open wheel 6000.00 late model

9000.00 super late model 15.000 would the racing be better would have to worry about them hendrick - or rousch or gauerte motors would solve all whinning about who's cheating .

see i would think there would be more cars more racing and better racing i even think that racers would be happier

they would not have to wonder if well i got out ran cause he had a 50.000 dollar engine or 65.000 dollar roller

i don't think racing can continue with just a few of same people winning all time or just having few cars show up

If you want to equalize competition, hard tires, solid links rear suspension, cheap shocks will get you in the ball park.

Claimer rule(s) are fine until some mega team(s) take over the pit area and everybody don't want to mess with those guys!!!!

crazy hooked on racing . chasing that car in front of line

and if we can't out run him we'll spend more work more and say wait till next week racing ain't ever going to change it ain't never going to be simple and easy cheap motors ain't gonna go fast and fast motors ain't going last

and if you turn em they gonna break

Agree to a certain point. For certain places, it would be very hard to turn around.

But, if somebody would take the bull by the horns, establish a solid program with rules making sense, up to 4 classes, a viable purses structure for both sides, an affordable pricing for gates and concessions and so the owner can make a profit, and make sure to present entertaining events, there are ways to make it work, but not overnight

                                Bgs

                                --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
No way the guys running at BGS pay the bills...Its all about pride and winning at bgs... Modifieds pay 650 to win and a little more on bigger shows. If your gonna have a chance to win you will need 4 new tires everyweek...thats over 500.00 just for that... so you figure the guys are spending a min..700.00 a nite just to show up with entry fees.. I think the mods pay 75-100 dollars to start..
The tv shows the place packed full and its been like that for years...You would think some the dirt tracks around this area would get the hint but they do not..BGs is always having ladies nite, kids nite, and so on and no matter how big of a race there having general admission is 10 bucks...

What they dont show on the tv show are the other classes...Modifieds are the smallest class there....The 4 cyclinder divison has between 30-50 cars everyweek they have to run 2 and sometimes 3 races a nite for them...the sportsman and limited divisons have 20-30 or more cars everyweek...And i dont see how they do it for what they pay.. But it has been like that everysince i remember going for the first time 15 years ago...
