      Who Got The Better Cars?

Or even who had the better race, for that matter. If Deman and Gary J. are correct with their report on who was at Desoto, I'll say Desoto had the better of the two. And this is from someone who just came back home from Citrus Co. Speedways' FAST opener.

Don't get me wrong, Ocala76 was right on with his comment, and it really was a neat little race, some stories will follow, I'm sure. But, whilst in the grandstands looking over the FAST field, it was still missing the heavy hitters/names that were actually racing at Desoto.

I'll say Desoto Super Speedway probably had the better race, with a whole bunch more of big-named racers and teams at their Raceway instead.

What is really neat, though...... Citrus Speedway presented a full super show program of heats and features for several more classes with huge fields in each, on top of everything else. And in the $13.00 dollar admission price, and that's a deal and a half.

          Me Thinks...

if you had to split this race up then big hitters were at both tracks in the SLM race. 2 Andersons,Grossenbacker,Jeramie Gershner(finished 3rd with a crate motor) and his brother, and others.
Of course we had duds too, like Kirkpatric running 3rd in the opening laps and trying to win early. Got too aggressive and spun the 2nd place car in turn four. Sent to the rear and finished 8th.

Also kudos to Citrus for running the FAST race first so we all did not have to freeze our butts off if it had run as the last event.

(Oops another race report. But I ain't no stinkin' media dude.. )

            Big names?

Sounds to me like the "big" names were at Desoto. Jim, Grossnebacker(?) and the Gersheners(?)? Good one!LOL!

I still not agree that having these two races on the same night and going aginst each other was a good idea. But when you look at 27 cars at one track and 18 at another I think the real winner here was the fans of both Citrus and Desoto. It sounds like they both got to see great race's. We could argue forever who had bigger names or better cars but from what was read above the fans at both tracks got to see great race's and had a great evening and that right there is what is important to keeping racing alive.

While it would have been great for the race's to be on differnt days, I am not sure the outcome at either would have been much differnt. And as far as fan count realisticly other than maybe 100 at top's of us die hard karnacian race fans the fan count would probably have been the same at both place's even if they were on differnt days.

so congrats to the fans that were at both tracks and seen some great racing.

The biggest difference between the two races, PASSING!

Tim Russell dominated the Ice Breaker. Wayne passed everybody in 80 of 100 laps. Which race would you have rather seen? I'am really interested in your answers.

It looks to me like that handicap system to make all the cars equal needs a little tweaking. The only real good SLM in attendance qualifies head and shoulders ahead of most of the field then passes everyone if they were equal he shouldn't have been so superior to the field. I heard from a little birdy all those others weren.t invited to Citrus.

I'd love to know who your "birdy" is since this was not an invitational race. It was open to all...

First race ever in a Super late model and first race ever at Citrus County buddy. Qualified 2nd out of 27. Then in the race, 2nd place hacked the crap out of me, so I returned the favor going through 3+4. Then drove all the way back up through the field. How did you do in your first super late model race?

Was "returning the favor" really the smart thing to do on lap 3 of a 100 lap race?

I hate to ask but what about Phil Morrison. I had someone write me today about Phil. If you don't want to put it on the board, please email me at racingjls@aol.com so I can pass the information on to someone who cares about Phil and took the time to write me about him.

Sounds to me like both tracks did well and I am happy for both. And no, your recaps were really good and NOT a story. I should be getting stories and photos from both tracks soon and as soon as I do, I will post them for everyone. Just hope everyone had a great time last night.

Also heard that Zephyrhills were great also. I would have loved to have gone there but just couldn't. But glad everyone had such a great weekend and the weather was really, really nice for a change.

I expected that responce from a young driver who gets everything handed to him. If 'you' had to pay for all that stuff, perhaps you would have waited to 'return the favor' as you say.
No I don't drive SLM. Been a sportsman driver for several years as a 'hobby'. When there is a driver blocking me I am patient enough to let him screw up with 97 laps to go, or let someone else take him out.
I don't drive as much anymore though. Funds are short, just ask your daddy, he knows me and knows WHY. Enjoy your racin', because most of it has been paid for by ME.

Yup, you had a fast car last night, and with a little more finess you could have finished 2nd.
